This case is going to be brilliant. I'm going to pick it up to replace my crappy ricer nzxt tempest evo. It seems to address everything I don't like about the normal shinobi such as rubber grommits for cables, usb 3 and perpendicular hdd mounts. However, it still keeps the great looks and pricing. Can't wait to get it!
Caseking lists this as 15. Febuary 2012 for release. So it's right around the corner. Since my PC died last week, I need a replacement (quick) and also look into replacing my 10year old case. This one looks like a very hot contender, since I like the clean style (and it's a lot cheaper than the 800D).
I actually cancelled my order of the Cosmos 2 because i heard this case was coming out. You can do so much with this in terms of modding plus its cheaper! You guys have probably already seen Toms vid of the mods u can do on the normal shinobi. Imagine what his gona do to this one! Cant wait till its released and Tom i can't wait to see wat you do with this! Fk yeh im gettin a bona just thinking about this case now damn it haha
I hope they release this in white and with a fanless windowed side panel. Any news on whether they'll sell the different coloured mesh strips for this?
Wait guys, it might SEEM short for TTL. But consider: It's a preview/announcement of a to be released product. In other words A FIVE MINUTE TRAILER. THAT'S LONG.
@xblackhawk91x why buy either . both look like a case that was released in the 90s . not very appealing to me at least . but im an over kill big box builder . so it would just be a huge head ach just to fit all my junk in there .. good showcase tho ! now just get better cases .
I dont understand the blinking placement of the front rad. it doesn't seem like the optical bays are removable. Does it have a hole underneath those bays to slip the rad in?
@TimeToLiveCustoms If you could check the max size of the rads and if you can do push/pull that would be awesome. if it could support like a full rad (55mm thick) on the top and with push/pull fans that would be amazing.
@PhatboyHD88 I had to ditch my Shinobi fans due to noise. I bought 4 Xilence Red Wing 120mm fans to replace them and noise levels fell off the edge of perception. All in all, by the time I'd made the Shinobi case quiet and added in a second 2'5" mount it had become quite an expensive case. Good looking, but not so low budget as I'd hoped it would be. It looks like they have addressed some shortcomings of the Shinobi with this XL just wish they'd given a tad more consideration to the original.
Looks nice , my questions would be is it available in white and does it come with a window like the NZXT switch810. Looking forward to seeing the videos , really hope you can do one for the NZXT as well, im pretty sure your videos will decide which i go for.
I swear to you, this was my idea! LOL go to the Bitfenix forums and look at "product suggestions". About half way down the page is a thread titled, "Shinobi XL" posted by me, psychedelnick aka BitfeNicks. LMAO
If they put a nice big window on the side that dosen't have any holes in it for fans I would most likly but this case. I currently have a haf x with a 360 rad in the top but I want another rad so I can watercool my graphics card and the only way I can do that with my haf x is by modding it but I don't have any of the tools I need to do that.
iv been looking for new cases recently and none of them have really tickled my fancy, but i think ive just found the cace i want :), just quick question will there be a windowed version?
well i googled a bit and the case looks great and its huge hope it doesn't cost to much, but it doesn't look like it can hold a 360 in the front imho thanks for the info btw
My only concern, which was a concern with the original Shinobi, is the mesh on the roof. Would love to know your thoughts of if the roof XL feels like it's of good quality or a general weakness. Commentary on modding support, specifically for the roof and side panel, would be cool too.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the case Tom
@blizlake awesome :D ty for info. Now I only wonder how much it will cost. But if its gonna be cheaper than fractal design define r3 than I think i'll grab it.
I still don't understand why they (and other case manufacturers) put the grommets for liquid cooling on the back when they've CLEARLY designed all the cooling to be internal. Just seems like an unnecessary added cost and/or potential for extra noise.
Looks interesting, Ill see whats the price here in Poland and I might even consider buying it for my new build.
One thing I don't like too much about this case is hdd rack. Id much prefer 2 separate racks, cuz then I'd remove one for better airflow, since I don't use lots of HDDs.
I wouldn't buy this case because I just bought a new one and don't really like the idea of a full tower monster on my desk but it still makes me drool.
A 360mm on the roof, a 360mm in the front and even a 240 at the bottom?! This seems to be like the ultimate watercooling case if you ask me. At first I thought I was going to buy the cosmos 2 for my next watercooling build, but now that I've seen this(or rather heard) I'm going to wait for this case to be released and have a look at some reviews about it when it does (TTL's review first ofc).
i hope they release a white version with a huge clear window sorta corsair 600t white style, i mean even if they dont im probably going to purchase this, it looks great!
Looks like a nice case with plenty of flexibility built in ... and i would imagine a LOT better value for money than the over priced, over engineered and flawed behemoth cooler master cosmos 2 .. in my opinion but i am sure the review will tell me more when it comes out ...
I already have a Shinobi, but this one looks epic... I mean 360 at the top, and 360 at the front, and 240 at the bottom?? At that price point of 150$, this case could take down a lot of its competitors.
Hmm..it's bigger...probably better...but, it's bigger. I was rather hoping Bitfenix would issue free USB3 connector panels to all Shinobi owners along with a free second 3.5/2.5" bay slot for SSD's as the price of the Shinobi gets quite high once you factor those parts in. Rather like Noctua issued free CPU mounts (which must be more expensive to make than the wee bit of plastic Bitfenix offer for 2.5" or SSD drives). We see there is quite a margin for them to improve the standard Shinobi case.
it would be really cool if you put a full size watercooling build in it with dual 360 rads :)
