  • Maniak88R1- Your uncle Charlie was my boss out at Dryden Flight Research Center a few years back. He too told me a few of his stories as the pilot in this video is my Grandfather.

  • 4duncanm... where did you get your date from?

  • My uncle Charlie Baker was the crew chief on the x-15. Back in February I went to his 85th birthday party and he was telling us about this crash. From what I remember him saying, the pilot ejected the canopy just as it rolled over. I guess if he hadn't, he would have ran out of oxygen and died before the safety crew got there. The x-15 is made out of some serious composite material to survive that crash. I believed my uncle's story but this video just confirmed it.

  • Skills to pay the bills..

  • So -.-, we meet again 240p.

  • The rescue crew had to dig a hole under the cockpit to get the pilot out.

  • lol i thought it was a bomb

  • I'm so glad the plane survived!!!

  • I think the pilot died years later from complications.. of that crash.

  • You can really see the extreme landing speeds these things endured in this film.

  • @TV843 we was going way to fast for a stable landing that´s why he crashed

  • better than those aliaen crop circles , iI'll tell you! hm hmmm.

  • wow he survived?

  • LOL 30 PERCENT!!!

  • mud lake i've been there! :) theres still bullets from WWII

  • love that hd quality

  • @Reid1Reid1 Its 240p, far from HD

  • @ArshavinatorTheTres It was that thing known as sarcasm.

  • @Reid1Reid1 From 1962, and you are still bitching?

  • awful quality, awesome crash

  • @sebianoti It's from 1962! what do you want!

  • @sebianoti IT WAS 1962

  • @sebianoti no duh its shitty quality loser, its from 1964

  • Wow

  • seeing this video, it struck me how similar the cockpit, fuselage and front cowl look to the SR-71. It has the same spare, elegant lines built for pure speed. Both built by Lockheed, but they were developed at about the same time so they must have a common origin. I imagine the X-15 must have been scaled down compared to the SR in dimensions, as it didn't have the camera gear -- or ecm/radar electronics though I don't know if the SR was so equipped.

  • @haggis0breath that is why the x-15 was built, to provide data and systems for the following aircraft[sr71 and x-70) so thus the similarity]. the xl5 built by north american, the sr 71 by lockheed. kelly johnson worked for north american in 40's and he is the one who designed the sr7l , but had nothing to do with the xl5 that i know of. jin the 50's northamerican was the fighter company producing among others the p51, f86, fl00, fl04, fl07 that i know of. the fl04 looked alot like x-l5
