The Fed increased interest rates causing mortgage rates to increase. I mostly place blame on the Fed for this. Not Obama or Bush.

Unemployment is at 8.5% (grant it, it's gone down from 9.2%), however, Obama did NOT cut the deficit in half like he so promised....

The only reason Obama hasn't cut the deficit in half is that Congress is doing all it can to block Obama every chance they get. There were ARTIFICIAL boom times on Wall Street alright, but why? Blame the Federal Reserve. They artificially lowered interest rates and that caused mortgage rates to be low. Greed also took place also with Government enterprises such as Freddie and Fannie Mae and the Department of Housing and Development. Can't just blame Wall Street. Banks giving loans to people who don't have a way to pay them back isn't something that any real bank would invest in. And what happened to common sense? It was caused by the Federal Reserve lowering interest rates while inflating the money supply, allowing easy credit, and the government/state meddling in the housing market, encouraging high risk loans to almost anyone. This was the result of both the Clinton and the Bush administrations, but most importantly, the blame falls on the folks behind the Federal Reserve, as they also control the biggest policy-making think tanks.

Secondly, although Obama did indeed inherit a weak economy and a large deficit, under the Obama administration, our deficit increased by 4 trillion dollars. Those numbers aren't small. Unemployment is at 8.5% (grant it, it's gone down from 9.2%), however, Obama did NOT cut the deficit in half like he so promised....

The only reason Obama hasn't cut the deficit in half is that Congress is doing all it can to block Obama every chance they get. It actually will get cut in half by 2013, because the Bush Tax Cuts expire and we'll have pulled out of Afghanistan, by then. You'll hear more in the coming months.

How do you protect consumers by bailing out these companies that ruined the economy in the first place? Regulators intervening early? Since when do bureaucrats do anything on time?
