really really good demo. very helpful and thorough. i've been wondering if to invest in one and.. i love its sounds but i wish it had some punchhy phat bass abilities. 16:33 to the end were all really awesome sounding settings!
**** SELLING ***** one of these amazing Moog synthesizer. Really deep sound for amazing results. If you are interested visit my channel. By the way nice video
@ultimatenerd22 If you like the sound then buy it... I love the OpusIII and it's great for Prog or Krautrock if that's your thing... not so great on basses but it is fully polyphonic so could work in a more modern dance music environment. Nice, unique sound.
I thought this "pointless noodling" was fantastic !!! As a proud owner of a Moog Opus III I think we should start a revival movement for this unique synthesiser. I've used it for many years, both recording and playing live and really enjoyed playing it. Mine is in worse shape than the one in the video (but so's my noodling !!!). LONG LIVE THE MOOG OPUS III - Ian c
beautiful demo! i loved the little bit at the end. im hoping to aquire one of these very soon, and your video made me very excited to do some pointless noodling of my own ;o)
What a fantastic sounding keyboard! It reminds me a bit of the music from 2001 Space Odyessey. Didn't they used to sell these at Radio Shack under a different brand name?
@audiotrax2000 They sold a Moog synth at Radio Shack but it wasn't the same as tthis one. It was a monophonic synth known as the Realistic Concertmate MG-1. I used to go to Radio Shack at the mall an dnoodle around with it until my mom dragged me out of there.
@audiotrax2000 Close. The Concertmate MG1 sold at Radio Shack was a slightly altered Moog Rogue, not an Opus 3. The changes were mostly made at the insistence of Radio Shack to shift the focus from a professional to a consumer product. That's why it had oddities like RCA outputs.
I always think the Opus3 is kinda unique among Moog synths. It really doesnt have what most people think of as the Moog sound and almost sounds more Korg-ish. Not that that's a complaint. Variety is good!
A combination of discreet components, resistors, capacitors, transistors etc and I'm sure some simple chips, such as op amps etc... I had this one rebuilt from the ground up... I received it with little or no cabinetry and most of the circuits failed... so yes, it can be fixed with off the shelf components.
I've got several effects pedals running from my Opus3 and it is making some amazing sounds. Try a distortion and delay combo. One sustained note can be manipulated for 10-15 minutes.
I really like this video, mee3d. Definitely make it sound very user friendly. And, your chops are also excellent (particularly in C minor). I really want one of my own!
One of the reasons I want one has nothing to do with its sound or its features. I want it because it came from the mind of Herbert A. Deutsch, who was Dr. Robert Moog's first synthesizer collaborator in 1964.
Lovely! I'd like to get one but my band always plays a tone below concert pitch - is it possible to transpose the keyboard on this?

There's a song somewhere in between 20:08-20:42. It resumes between 20:58-21:12.

I love the very quick change of timbre at 0:12-0:13 seconds. Also the effect at 0:39-0:40.
These are the kinds of things that you'd really need a delay unit for.
Set the repeat to infinity and change the final output by manipulating the knobs on a tube screamer.
3:09-3:38 was nice but there might have been a little bit too much tinniness to it.
