@DurbBob ok this going to be pretty much impossible(definantly if you have an iphone 4,3gs or an ipod 4g) or a least very hard. Unless you were already jailbroken and set up your shsh and use tiny umbrella if not you have to downgrade to 3.1.2 by putting the iphone in recovery mode with an app called DFU Mode and installing the firmware next use blackra1n to jailbreak it then use snowbreeze or pwnagetool if your on a mac and create a custom 4.2.1 firmware then from the just install that firmware

For everyone who is asking how to fix a broken home button, I just fixed mine. All I used was a soldering gun and a screw driver.

Just search YouTube for home button repair to learn how to open it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.

I've had that once and yes it was jailbroken but I didn't have it right away when I did. But that was at the top. After a couple weeks I figured out how to do that since my lock button doesn't work. But then I update it and I need my lock button to work to update it ugh!!

You dont need the home button to jailbreak 3.1.2 , just go to blackra1n. com and dl, follow instructions, and it works like a champ. took maybe 15 seconds total. no home button needed!
