I don't think most of your cars struggle to go that fast. Almost NONE of them can get past 112 mph. Most of them are speed limited to that speed. Back in the 80s and 90s they were lucky to hit 110 if you put them on a 5 mile stretch 4 lane road with no one else around.
You can buy a 20 year old Tercel with a 1.5 litre engine with 200,000 miles on it that could still hit 110 no problem.

stock, no the L67 can't. modded, an L67 could easily keep up with or beat a stock LS4. as far as other comments about putting the LS4 in a RWD car that will most likely not happen. the LS4 most likely won't see life in any vehicles anymore since they dropped the SS from the Impala lineup for 2010 and that was the last car still using the LS4. nice little engine though although with the LS3 there's really no reason have the LS4 in a RWD vehicle.

the reason is because theyre not a high volume seller most of the sales come in the form of fleet sales and old people who dont care whats under the hood. for enthusiasts it sucks, but in reality the car sells in the platform it is. besides, comparing the new camaro SS(which i hate) and the impala ss is comparing apples and oranges. youre talking a FWD family sedan built on a 20 year old platform vs. a RWD coupe. the imp SS was fast for what it was.

THe LT1 is an old iron block engine, heavy and unreliable. This is the new LS1, LS4, a 5.3 Liter V8, 303 HP, about the same power, put that in a rear wheel drive car and it'll be faster than any old LT1.
Well said, but the key is putting it in rear wheel drive. I can't imagine what kind of torque steer you're getting mating a V8 to a front-wheel drive car....
But yes, a 5.3L V8 in a rear wheel drive car would make a badass ride (and definitely could be a better cop car, too...the current Impala 9C1 is in the 200 hp range...)
The current cop cars are like an Impala LTZ, with carry a 3.9 Liter 240 HP engine. Not bad for a V6, but they use Mustangs or Chargers for their V8 interceptor cars. I remember back in the 90's or early 00's they used a few Camaros with the LS1, there's a video on here of a 2002 Camaro Z28 cop car chasing down a BMW, and the BMW's engine finally blows up, lol.

I did 100mph in my very own Impala base 3.4 V6. at that speed it was still pulling pretty hard, but I knew I will hit the limiter at 108mph, and I didn't want a speeding ticket. So I stopped throttling.
I agree, I have 2002 Mitsubishi Galant 4cyl 2.4L and it does about 122, and my roommate's 2000 Hyundai Tiburon is a 2.5L 4cyl it goes about 125 (but it is also attached to a 5spd, but either way, its still 4 cyl)
Rule of thumb...you never run fast when there's something up with your tires. 2psi or not--why was it down? Was it leaking because of a puncture? Leaky valve stem? Existing plug not holding air? Those kinds of things can be murder at 60mph, let alone 125. It's why GM now puts an "idiot" light on the dash to warn you...see...for idiots, so they check the tires before driving fast and don't risk a blowout at speed, potentially injuring others lives or property. That is all.
For one, the light has always been on, tire full or not...this "idiot light" therefore would probably be speaking about GM who made it, for they are idiots because it doesnt not turn off.

I couldn't agree more. European cars are known for there effcient use of diplacment to achieve power. This car though is a sedan and is rather heavy (not sure how much your VW weighs). This scary thing is though Chevy is on of the domestic companies that can actually built half-decent motors compared to other domestics.

Well, for one we can see more than 20 feet, that's just the camera. For two, we are all experienced at driving fast, and have NEVER caused an accident. It handles like a dream at 220 km\h - but I'm not comfortable taking it beyond that.
Great car but GM could've done a lot better in other aspects. IE - a light in the glove box, better interior quality, better paint, in-dash GPS.

That's almost 122mph (imperial FTL) which is good, but not all that impressive. My friend could easily do 120mph in his '98 C280, and that was a sixer.
I did 100mph in my very own Impala base 3.4 V6. at that speed it was still pulling pretty hard, but I knew I will hit the limiter at 108mph, and I didn't want a speeding ticket. So I stopped throttling.

I agree, I have 2002 Mitsubishi Galant 4cyl 2.4L and it does about 122, and my roommate's 2000 Hyundai Tiburon is a 2.5L 4cyl it goes about 125 (but it is also attached to a 5spd, but either way, its still 4 cyl)

Rule of thumb...you never run fast when there's something up with your tires. 2psi or not--why was it down? Was it leaking because of a puncture? Leaky valve stem? Existing plug not holding air? Those kinds of things can be murder at 60mph, let alone 125. It's why GM now puts an "idiot" light on the dash to warn you...see...for idiots, so they check the tires before driving fast and don't risk a blowout at speed, potentially injuring others lives or property. That is all.

omg, thats amercian bullshit. v8 5.3L with only 306 hp? in germany car builder need only 2.5L to get this hp and more. american car builder haven't any clou how to build motors, it's a chame.
my car is a vw jetta sportwagen with a 1.4L TSI and it goes quickly faster than this one with only 122 hp and a torque of 200 nm at 1500 RPM

I couldn't agree more. European cars are known for there effcient use of diplacment to achieve power. This car though is a sedan and is rather heavy (not sure how much your VW weighs). This scary thing is though Chevy is on of the domestic companies that can actually built half-decent motors compared to other domestics.

Its only a 303 hp V8..what do you expect? 303 hp is not that much. But yeah, I do wish they were RWD...FWD sucks w/ V8..Chevy did do horrible on the new Impala SS's with the FWD, and low power V8. Needs a 405hp V8, with RWD

Why would a CAR need 405 hp with fuel prices the way it is these days. I do agree with the need for RWD though (more fun), but 303 hp is plenty, especially because less power is lost to the FWD then if it were RWD.

people don't buy sports cars for fuel economy. the same thing with trucks. i hate when people ask me what i get for fuel mileage in my f350. You can never have too much power!

Oh I totally agree, but this isn't a sports car, it's a daily driver sedan. It needs to be well-rounded so that includes having power with moderate economy.

Well, for one we can see more than 20 feet, that's just the camera. For two, we are all experienced at driving fast, and have NEVER caused an accident. For three, I have not noticed a crack-down on speeding at all and I resent being called an idiot, for there are many accidents caused by people who are doing a number of other things than speeding.

I was like HOLY CRAP! that thing is seriously scooting to 100 but then I was like "oh geez that's metric". A lot less impressed after that. Reasonably quick to 120 MPH. V8 in a FWD is asking the front tires to do too much: support a V8's mass, steer, brake, and grab for traction when the weight shifts to the back of the car. Yikes in the twisties!

Take it easy. I love GM, their cars and the people who drive them. Obviously if you're diving an Impala SS, you're no idiot. Just be careful. I live in Ontario, and if you got caught, your vehicle would be impounded and your licence would suspended just for doing 50KMs over the limit.

Thats in KILOMETERS. 200 kilometers means he was only going 124 miles an hour. I don't know if they make them diferent elswhere but in the US the 06-08 SS Impalas would've passed the 124 mph mark a long time ago.
