A lot of what the older generation is saying is true, I was born in 1972 and grew up during the rise of Hip Hop, but there is a great difference between the hip hop I grew up on and the music today, and I hate to say not for the better. I've now discovered the Jazz world Miles, Coltrane , Brubeck, and the music from the 40s, 50s, and 60s. So it's been good taking a giant step back and discovering the new oldies.
He was my pre-teen idol, nobody else came close. He is still georgeous to this day, but it's wonderful seeing him at his prime, a very special time of awakening for me & all his fans:)
One of the best songs of any era. I believe this video is taken from Dick Clarks old Saturday night show from back in the late 50's. He did American Bandstand during the week and this show every Saturday night with all the rock n roll greats of the late 50's.
Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!
Grandfather passed away. This 8 track was laying next to his old Zenith. We were going to throw out but cannot after hearing this. Born in 1980 here but holy cow did music really go to hell these days. Great tune.
Oh!! I miss this type of music, and this time of my life, yes I was only 7 years old, but with the crap & shit that is played nowadays which they called muisc, I am so glad I got to live through the music of yesterday and can listen to it nowadays with u-tube. Such great music from the 50's 60's 70's, which I love the most. To hell with what they so call music nowadays.
Does anyone know the name of the song that recently came out with the same background chorus to "Hey Venus". Its by a female singer (possibly Beyonce or Erkyah Badu). Any info would be great!
it is wonderful to know that we have lived that period and looking back it is a meaningful experience ..thank you to all who made those kind of melody
I love this song Venus by Frankie Avalon and I met thanks to a good remix that makes a Peruvian artist named Lujan: soundcloud com/lujan/frankie-avalon-venus-lujan-remix . Thanks for uploading
It was surely a time of drive-ins...driving to a hillside after the dance to somewhere hidden from the world and kissing like lovers without your parents realizing that's what you were actually doing. I can still feel the wet lips on my lips and the smell of perfume...GOD! What a beautiful time in life it was. I feel very lucky to lived in those times. The fantasy of love and the reality of heartbreak.
omg omg frankie, I'm so in love with him. I remember all the neighborhood girls useto chase my brother up and down the street yelling frankie, frankie, frankie. yes i started it. what fun i had as a kid in the 60's watching all the beach movies him and annette were in. ahhhhhhhhhhh the good old days when life was simple. we never had computers or cell phones, i pods, etc. wow times are a changing. I'm glad i was born in 1960
It is like this now. It just has a scratchy record effect, a thumping drum, and nonsensical gibberish in the background. Of course I'm being cynical. I was ten when this was on the radio. I've noticed that styles of music were pushed to the front then replaced with something new, over and over. But when 'Rap' arrived the industry seemed to want to keep in front forever.
One of the reasons is because the kids of these people didn't raise their kids properly. That's just my opinion of course. I would give anything to have been born in like 1940 not knowing about all this technology we have today.
I was but 2 years old during the taping of this video, but the song has lasted and is still played in 2010. The timing is a testament to the lasting of Rock & Roll. Girls were screaming because Frankie Avalon was so cute. He got his start playing a trumpet on the Jackie Gleason show as a skit.
I remember " She's Out of Control". Well, starred Amy Dolenz the daughter of Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees! That was the first time I ever heard this song.
@Joejam2845 holy crap! thats the only reason i knew this song. i used to watch that flick when i was a kid. i heard it on the radio the other day an googld the lyrics and here i am
I remember first listening to this song when I was a little girl. It was in a movie. And though my memory of the film is vague, I remember one part was of a girl walking down some stairs after she receives a makeover, or something along those lines. While she's walking down this song is playing. I have been driving myself crazy trying to find the title of this film. If anyone has any clue I would appreciate it. I really want to find this movie.
Man this song is the best. Right now, I'm only 19 and yet I still love this type of music too. It sounds so romantic and it seems so beautiful too. My Mom really likes doo-wop music including this type of music released back from the 50's and 60's so that may have been how I came to know this type of music. This music is the best though and I do like this type of music as well as many other different types of music. This song here sounds so beautiful and it'll always remain as a great song. :)
i'm 19 years old and just heard this song for the first time yesterday on one of those late-night infomercials about a collection of 40s and 50s music. nothing else is better. the guys back then were so much more attractive, dapper, charming, and sang about things that actually matter. young frankie avalon makes me think i was born about 50 years too late <3 haha
1:16 - 1:19 *melts! Its so weird that in the days between 1920-1970s, everyone looked so unique and you couldnt find anyone like that person. Even their voices were unique! Young Frankie Avalon <<3
@fehks323 they should have replaced the "might ol man" song, i HATED that song, was making a deal with a scavanger and excidentally gave him some good stuff for free but knowing i made the mistake i let him live until that song came on, it was so annoying i killed the guy and his bear
Love this song. My mom introduced it to me years ago. A timeless classic. Is it me or is there a startling resemblance between Frankie Avalon and Frank Sinatra during his 40's idol years?
Frankie just did a concert with Fabian and Bobby Rydell and it was fabulous!! Never knew he was such a genuine nice man. He has eight chhildren, one of whom was his drummer. He pulled a man out of the row in front of us and he went on stage and sang, it was Johnny Maestro. They did at least 35 minutes of encores, impromptu. What a great show, we were lucky!!
