Don't need the stand but the arms are great, thanks. I have had several of these types of arms replaced since their warranty is three years, the plastic handles used for tightening don't always hold up well. In my case neither at all, the company sent newer arms with far more adjustments. These companies are trying to make plastic do more than its capable of.
Thank you sir, I have seen them in Keyboard mag but they are so slow about answering questions. I really like the manner in which the stand puts your board where you need it. Many arms are not so versitile looking.
@PlayClubSoundZ I would use a digital synth for any electronic music (virtual analogue) things like tight fm, wavetables/format wavetables, tight envelopes, effects, sample accurate reproductions, being able to control wave phase properly etc will really help with those types of sound If you like the sound of analogues and want to try something new go for it, you could make dub step/electro with a microphone and your voice is you were so inclined
How does the P08 do in reproducing the classic OBX sound used so much in the early 80s? Does it pretty much pounce every other keyboard out there today? I know there is a OP-X software synth for OB but I hate software synths.
i'm buying a synth and im completely new to playing them - i really like the sound of phantom 08 would anyone reccomend it for beginning with or would it be too complex?
No internal effects means cheaper price and clean analogue signal path in maintained. I'm hopefully picking up a module version of this as soon as. Looks mint. Andromeda's are way too overpriced now.
Wow i love this synth! Great demo's! Im looking for a new synth. I've had a nord lead for a while. But....you know. It hasn't really got the analogue rawness, and magical, emotional tones. The 08 producers beautiful sound. But can ask you....what do you think? Is it the real thing, or not quite? If i was to go off your demo's alone, i would get one!
Well, it sounds just like it does in these videos. :) Keep in mind, however, that I have added external reverb and delay effects. I think it's "the real thing."
compare to my Roland JP800, can you give me an onest unbiased opinion please? or should I invest in Polar,Virus, Phantom or Nord Lead to increase a palette of sounds for IDM and electro-techno style of music? Thank you in advance for your response. God bless you with your work.
Sorry, I have never played a JP800. For electro/techno the Virus synths seem to be very popular. The TI's are expensive but used Virus A and B models go for "reasonable" prices on eBay. I have only played the Nord Lead in stores and have never really been impressed. I wish it had onboard delay and reverb effects.
I actually have a prophet 5, and I'm really not sure what kind of amp or monitors to get. I'm sure I'll need something to capture the full range of the synth. What do you recommend?
Synths put out a wide range of frequencies, so for live/band use you really need PA speaker(s) or an amp built for keyboards like the ones made by Roland. For home/studio use I like my Event monitors, but my particular model is discontinued. Monitors are a personal choice so you should go to a store and listen to some yourself.
dont underestimate cranking your favorite analog synth through an overdriven tube amp. *not recommended for bass settings unless you disconnect the speaker and just use a d.i.* certainly for best overall sound a full freq. speaker is best. i did blow my kc-550 with moog sub bass though. go figure.
Thankyou so much for taking your time to making these videos. I have already purchased an LP on the strength of your demos and soon a Prophet 08 will be mine.
You are brilliant, your synth demos are fantastic and they are really helping me decide what synth I am going to get (I have decided on the Prophet 08)
OK....i looked for a prophet one because i am a romantic one but it seems better to take a 08 - what a killer synth!! What a killer player! Great, boy!!!!!
there are some nice sounds coming out of this thing. The bass does get pretty thick. not as thick as the A6, though it does have alot more life to it due to the clearer top end. my only concern with the A6 is that it doesn't cut through the mix all that well. not a probelm with this baby. any thoughts?
Yea, I was impressed by that patch in one of your other videos as well (or it may have been the poly version). Dave managed to squeeze a lot of warmth and punch into the sound of this unit, it seems. Big selling points for me.
I appreciate you posting these with well recorded audio. It's hard to tell from some of the other demo vids how good the sound is but it's crystal clear and has full bass fidelity in yours so that helped immensely. This is clearly a serious instrument from a proven maker (and a very nice guy, it seems). :-)

@keysB3P Take a look at the ProLine PL-402 2 Tier Double X-Braced Keyboard Stand at Musicians Friend.

I am more interested in the extra stand arms that holding the other board over the Prophet 08, I'd like to get some. Very nice.

@keysB3P This stand (both tiers) was made by On-Stage Stands. I bought it at Guitar Center here in the US some years back.
