@lordofthestrings02 Yes, we do. We have arrangements with publishers and artists for hundreds of Billboard hits. We produce lessons on that basis. You must have rights to make these kinds of lessons and sell or even broadcast them for free. We don't understand how others can do this "free" on the web, but we believe in paying the artists for their genius -- while teaching you how they play their songs more accurately than any sources might do. We're not perfect, but that's the mission.
I have been learning so much from everyone on youtube, ultimate guitar and the computer on general from everyone. I am going to start to contribute myself, It should be free, when I teach or have taught in the past the most I have ever asked is that you want to learn and that you try. Okay you can buy me pint although its not required < id already have one. ROCK ON
Yes, you're right. I've decided to keep my acoustic in DADGAD, and I like to capo it on the second fret to make it open E. Both DADGAD and "open E" have such great sounds.
Ace! can anyone tell me (using this tuning) some minor chords? Are minor chords possible? And is there a reference tab list somewhere for the open E tuning ... like, the finger positions for the most common chords, A, E, C, F, G.. etc? Cheers!
Minor chords are possible, but quite challenging as essentially (from E to E) you'd need to play 222122, if you think about the difference between E major and E minor in standard tuning.
For an easier way, try tuning to E sus 2 (lower the G string instead of raising it, so it sounds a B on fifth fret), then you can use a single 222222 bar for sus 2's, you use your middle finger to play 222322 for minors, and your ring finger to play 222422 for majors :)
yeah this tuning part really helped because I wanted to play this song called Say It To Me Now by Glen Hansard an I needed an Open E Tunign to play it.
I cannot tell you how much this video means to me. 30 years and counting playing in open E. Rediculed and mocked. Yet I smoke most of them within moments after we begain playing any given song. Please see my open E performances if you would like at my Youtube site.
Beautiful indeed. Open E has been my standard tunning for most of my career. It has taken me all over the world in my 30 years of playing guitar. Now I have an education in music theory and playing in standard which has mad e me into quite the player. A double threat if you will. P.S. It takes time to get there but if you want it and you put in the time. Almost anyone can play music and make a living with their art. From: Cosio Galko.
@cosiogalko I'm a bass player who has started playing acoustic and electric strictly in open e and d. I love the tone. How did you learn the more expansive techniques in this tuning (for example playing 7th chords)?
Look at those nails! Dude must be a serious nylon string player.

Why not tune it down to open D? Then you can just capo it and you don't run the risk of breaking a string.
JackG994 10 months ago 2
@JackG994 Exactly! I use Open D normally anyway, so the capo is a simple adaptation and I never break any strings that way.

So heavier guage (guage?) strings exert more tension on the guitar?

@RomeroDelgado Better for your instrument to tune DOWN, not up. If you want to play in a higher key, put a capo on!

what would you call this tuning if the third string was tuned to an F# instead of a G#. and then the high E was tuned to a D#!

the headmaster ritual by the smiths uses this tuning, a really cool song, and beutiful to play on guitar.

if u dont want to break you strings if your using electric use rotosound 10 regular strings

You can also use Open D tuning, and just capo at the second fret, if your strings are a little old.

This is a fun tuning. Personally I prefer open D. Has a deeper more resonant tone and it's not as stressful on your strings or the neck.
Thanks for posting. This is some good info.
