If only those people would have known back then what would happen to Michael! But, as it were, no one knew. I was just as surprised as everyone else when Off the Wall hit the charts. @rumbapassion The crowd wasn't ready for this shit. They were mesmerized by The Jackson's stellar dance moves and funky sound. Michael was doing things 30-40 years ago that 95% of artists today try to mock. He could dance circles around anyone. Check out "Shake your body" or "Dancing machine." Absolutely brilliant!

@bigazzpimp407 Yes I have checked out nearly every video and song of Michael's. I have every CD, nearly every DVD and am still looking. I can't get enough of him. He was so diversified in his music. No-one even comes close these days. We won't get another like Michael, song and dance was in him from an early age, and he perfected it over the years. You can't get 45 years of singing in dancing in artists of today, it is just not going to happen.

Back then most everyone sounded good live. But now?? When I first saw Avril Lavigne sing "Complicated" live on TV, I gasped in disbelief. I didn't expect her to sound so horrible! Good question. I think he paid the ultimate price of success. He wouldn't have been so abnormal if he wasn't so famous and so driven. It was the price he paid.

So if you could find a happy medium, then that is what we would strive for. I'm sure MJ only knew music and at some pt, the only thing he could equate with success is record sales...not even money. Cuz that was his life calling by the time he was 9.

If you ever watch Marlon spin or Jackie do the robot versus the mechanics that Michael displays in these hard dance routines you would see that they just don't possess Mike's natural abilities.

MIke is the man, no doubt about it. But I do agree, Michael wouldn't have accomplished what he did without his brothers by his side AND without his father pushing all of them towards greatness. Now don't get me wrong NONE of them had a solo career like Michael, primarily because Mike was the lead singer of the group, but he was for a reason; and Joe may have pushed them a litle too hard at times, but he did for a reason. So yes the GROUP is what changed music, but then MICHAEL changed the world.

I think this audience mistakenly thought they were going to a taping of Lawrence Welk. Did you see the women in the front? One of them kept looking around like "when is THIS going to be OVER?!"
