  • This takes the prize for best Norditrack how-to video....maybe the only one of someone actually skiing and not clowning around or falling over...comments below are awesome too.

  • I bought this in the US 20 yrs ago

I loved this machine and now I can't find it...I had to settle for the nordic walking cross trainer..not the same :(

  • Out of business? Say what? NordicTrack isn't out of business.

  • Newbie tips: master the lower part, then the upper part, then combine them. Start with it level, much easier to learn, set strap to around 2 or and take short strokes holding on to the pad or handle, stay very vertical; gradually increase resistance, length and speed. When you ski without holding on to pad, work on just the arms.Adjust the cord length so when 1 hand is straight out, the other is 6 to 12 inches behind your butt. The trick is as 1 arm pulls downhard, the other arm resists it.

  • Newbie tips:

1.) Crank up the tension on the skis (pull the strap on the spring). This helps you stay standing up as your stride "ends."

2.) Tie new knots for the handles, to make the ropes shorter. This helps you stay standing up. Dig in, hold handles like ski poles

3.) Try just the legs at first.

4.) The machine is good for tall or short people, you may need to adjust it to fit YOUR arm and leg length.

5.) Amazing upper and lower body workout, no impact = no knee or hip pain.

  • They are not out of business -- maybe where this lady lives? They have a website.

  • Some people simply don't have the balance and coordination to use this machine. I own one. Love it. Saves my knees and the pounds just melt away. There's no shortage of people that can't even stand on it without injuring themselves, much less attempt a workout however.

  • got mine for free from a friend never been used...he is a fool! I love this machine!

  • I bought my first Classic Pro Skier model from the company in 1991. I lost weight and started building muscle tone almost immediately. I bought my 2nd. for $50 in 2003 from a co-worker who bought it, used it once and put it in storage (what a deal!). They're great. It's the only thing I've ever been able to stick with consistently. It is proof positive that you don't have to spend a fortune on some sophisticated piece of equipment to get something that produces real, lasting results.

  • not as easy as it looks. When i first started using mine in 94, i thought i could handle an hour on this thing- 20 minutes whipped my ass. Of course, i was overweight at the time, too.

  • I just bought a NordicTrack Elite built in 1993 for $40. It is mostly wood. I am excited to learn how to properly use the machine.

  • I am 57, I just got mine through Craigslist for $100. It works wonderfully. After 3 weeks, I've gotten the hang of it and I'm doing a kilometer 3 times a day. No knee impact as with running. No need to go to a gym and change into a swimsuit. No need to wait for good weather. It's wonderful!

My question: why is this marvellous machine out of stock at the company that makes them? You can't place an order, and it says it may not return to stock.

  • Yeah I can tell it's a finely made machine:)

Very well engineered and fun/comfortable to use.

If ANY other exercise device could be said to be as well made as your Nordictrack it's Tony Little's Gazelle:)

  • I am using one of my Nordic Track ski machines and I can tell you that it definitely works. It is an amazing piece of equipment. I bought both of my skiers at thrift stores for around $25 a piece and I can assure you they were worth every penny. Hope everyone gets to use one at least once in order to see how effective they really are.

  • I've been using my NT since 94. It is w/out a doubt the best piece of cardio equipment EVER! The only exercise I ever have to do other than this is minimal triceps and some crunches. It has whittled my waist, decreased belly fat, built amazing muscles everywhere, back, legs, butt, arms.

I love it! It burns more calories than an elliptical or any other cardio workout.

  • @linkpluss if you notice she straped a fan to the top more than lickly thats where all the noise is coming from

  • @linkpluss ...she's not on crack, she's on track with Nordic Track LOL;) Anyway, if you make sure the abdominal pad is adjusted high enough, it may not seem so uncomfortable...adjusting it properly can help keep you from tending to lean forward. Also, they only loud if you're lazy in the way you move your feet...I only allow my heels to barely raise up momentarily at the end of each stride, and mine's not loud at all...no clackity sounds, just the gentle sound of the belt around flywheel.

  • Outstanding exercise machine. Definitely one of the best fitness machines ever made. Recommend buying one used. Thanks for posting this video.

  • I have been using it since 1995. Recently, I am in a need of some parts. Unfortunatley, I cannot reach customer service. I wrote to many places, but to no avail. No answer from the States nor Europe. Now, I am staying in Poland, I have a qustion, too. Jus how reliable these readings concerning burnt calories are ? I step down from the machine dripping with sweat...... the meter shows tells me I skied away 800 cal..... is it true? Please respond, whoever.

  • @Ikar49 Ebay has many parts for these machines.

  • I just picked up a used Nordic Track, '92 vintage, still learning how to use it...

  • Is it normal for this machine to almost kill me on multiple occasions while trying to figure out how to use it? It's very flimsy...

  • @Zelduh Hilarious!! My grandpa found the Sequoia version of this and gave it to my mom to try if she can get any use out of it. I am 27 and tried it last night and almost broke my neck trying to figure it out, and fear for her safety lmao! I can't find a manual online anywhere, and if any of you can please let me know where I can find it for our Sequoia version.

  • @Zelduh there are steps to follow, first you turn the leg resistance way up so the ski 's wont move, then you get on the machine, and just use the upper body ropes, until you are comfortable, then you hold the handle bars, and slowly lower the leg resistance til you can start to ski. keep holding onto the bars until you feel more steady while skiing, then add the upper body movement. its a learned skill. its worth the effort. good luck.

  • been using mine since 96. It really is the best workout machine. Takes a while to get used to it in the beginning, but once you get a hang of it, nothing compares to it's ability to work the entire body.

  • Its sad to know that this is the greatest piece of calorie burner ever invented. Yet few people will ever know this!!

I got this by accident cause my mom bought it when she was in the states. I have never used anything that burns calories and builds a bruce lee type of defined sculpted muscles as this ski machine.

This is without a doubt the greatest fitness equipment ever made.

Funny how life is sometimes the best things are hidden.

  • @MMATSdreadnautLOVER I remember back in the 80s, when this machine, and the Soloflex were the hottest fitness machines on the market. I have been using the nortictrak for years, and it truly is a remarkable piece of fitness equipment. you can still find these on Craigslist for $100 or less. they are built to last. just yesterday someone put a Nortictrak excel model out on the curb for trash pickup, I scooped it up, and am now using it. it looks like it was hardly used.

  • of all the videos on here you look the most natural at exercising on this machine. I have a friend who wants to get rid of hers and I'm thinking about taking her up on the offer. Great job.

  • Very well done! It's obvious you're in terrific shape, and I can attest to how wonderful a workout the Nordic Track is. Can anyone recommend where to get the weighted hand grips? Thanks.

  • Finally someone who can do a good workout using the Nordic Track. Other Nordic Track Videos are just joking. Good for you.

  • thankyou

I just bought one and you make it look easy. Now i know i can do it!

  • Great job showing how you can talk while exercising on a Nordic Track and also showing with and without arm reel use. Plus elevation , computer, and other features well demonstrated. Seem to have fun and enjoy the machine.

  • We used to have this. We sold ours, but this is a good exercise equipment. We got ours around 1988.

    Thanks.

  • Thanks for demonstrating how this works! Great video.

  • I'm getting Gastric bipass surgery and bought this machine that I didn't know how to use, thanks to you, I know!

  • A terrific piece of equipment that lost popularity because there was a learning curve. Why work out on something that will work for years and years when you can own something from one of the carnival acts that will sell you something cheap, that requires no effort, offers little in the way of results, except for your wallet that they just helped lighten. YOU CAN DO IT!!
