SCIENCE SHOWS THAT THE UNIVERSE, because of entropy, could not have sustained itself eternally. Einstein confirmed that space, matter, and time had a beginning! That beginning had to be supernatural because natural laws have no ability to bring the universe into existence from nothing. The supernatural cannot be proved by science but science points to a supernatural intelligence for the origin and order of the universe ~ HOW FORENSIC SCIENCE REFUTES ATHEISM (Article)
@Mogley52 In fact, the laws of physics predict that entropy will increase both forwards in time AND backwards in time. Therefore, to attempt to highlight the glory and awe pointed to by modern science, with that example, is perhaps not the best choice.
NATURAL LIMITS TO EVOLUTION: Only evolution within "kinds" is genetically possible (i.e. varieties of dogs, cats, etc.), but not evolution across "kinds" (i.e. from worm to human). How were species living, reproducing if their reproductive system, vital structures, and organs hadn't evolved yet? Read my Pravda Internet article: WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS! I discuss: Punctuated Equilibrium, "Junk DNA," genetics, mutations, natural selection, fossils, genetic/biological similarities between species.
BLIND WATCHMAKER NO ARGUMENT. Natural selection is no "blind watchmaker" because it can only "select" from traits having survival value. It doesn't produce those traits. It only operates once there is life and reproduction, not before, so it couldn't be involved in life's origins. A partially-evolved cell (an oxymoron) would quickly disintegrate. It couldn't wait ("survive") millions of years for chance to complete it and then make it living! Read: HOW FORENSIC SCIENCE REFUTES ATHEISM
DAWKINS, HITCHENS, AND HAWKING REFUSE TO DEBATE with creationists who are SCIENTISTS, such as the scientists at The Institute for Creation (ICR) Research. Dawkins and his friends only debate non-scientist creationists. ICR scientists have written excellent articles on "Vestigial" Structures, Fossils, Genetics, Mutations, "Junk DNA," Natural Selection, Age of The Earth, Emergence of New Species (but not new genes), etc., etc. Just peruse their articles archive.
DEBATE IS NOT OVER. In Darwin's time not enough science was known to refute macro-evolution. There was no understanding of genetics. Darwin thought the cell was just a simple glob. No one knew about DNA, RNA, proteins. Modern evolutionists now know, but the theory is entrenched as gospel and a lot of personal motives are at stake as well. Just saying that something evolved doesn't make it so! Schools should present both sides! Read my article WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS!
IMAGINE A FISH WITH PART FINS, part feet with the fins evolving (transitioning) into feet. What survival benefit would there be? There are no true transitional forms, either living or fossilized. Evolutionists realize this fact! Read my Internet article: WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS!
APES ARE QUITE COMFORTABLE IN HOW THEY WALK, just as humans are quite comfortable in how they walk. Even a slight change in the position of a muscle or bone, for either, would be excruciatingly painful and would not be an advantage for survival. This is how the ABC works. They have their own agenda, they're on a mission and rig debates in favour of the view they want the public to adopt. That is why they did not have any one on Dawkins level to debate him properly so that he being witty and a good orotor, could walk all over them. They are in effect promoting his beliefs. They could have at least had a creation scientist and a Bible scholar to answer questions properly.
@germanicelt They had Rabbi Jackie Ninio who is quite the scholar. He walked all over Steve Fielding, but that's hardly the ABC's fault. He is a christian and a senator, one would hope that he has some wit. I don't believe there is an ABC conspiracy where they're trying to trick the public into believing what they want.
@germanicelt Aw diddums, you mean there's still a media outlet in this country that doesn't spout dumbed down, right-wing bullshit that is essentially a vehicle for advertisers!
@germanicelt Good luck finding any creationists who are on Dawkin's level. This panel was made up of some of the most influential people from both sides of the debate, what more can you expect from the ABC? Steve Fielding's stupidity is just representative of the intelligence of most religious fundamentalist christians anyway.
@germanicelt lol! sorry maybe I should have mentioned what the "topic" actually was - my mistake for assuming you had actually watched the show. The issue of religion's place in schools was discussed in quite some depth, and as a religious senator who holds the balance of power Steve Fielding is quite obviously influential when it comes to Government policy.
It's pretty easy to walk all over your opposition in debate when your opposition believes in fairytales and has absolutely no evidence supporting their position.
There's no such thing as a creation scientist, scientists do science, creationists don't, the two positions are mutually exclusive.
@germanicelt would you also opt for an astrologist when an astronomer comes on. or possibly and alchemist when a chemist does. and of course you need a witch doctor when you have a medical one.
Creationism isn't a position that should even be granted equal footing.
Having a creation "scientist" or scholar on the program would have only made the difference in making nonsense arguments APPEAR as though they are legitimate in the same way many politicans do given they are good speakers. However, one can be a great oratory all they want but in relation to creationism the evidence just isn't there. There lies a mountain of evidence behind the theory of evolution and if one suggests otherwise - without proving so - is ignorant and deluded.
@galapagos68... So funny how you atheist communist control freaks call any opposition to you "right wing". I suppose being so far on the left , any conservative view is right of yours, but doesn't mean it's right wing. Secondly, a creation scientist is simply a scientist who believes the origin of the universe was created. These people do exist. Evolution is an assumption, don't try and make out it's anything more. Last, the issues here were not political, they were philosophical.
@germanicelt Funny how you call anything to the left of you Communism. "Conservative" and "right wing" are synonyms. A "creation scientist" is a creationist, "creation science" is as much science as the DPRK is a democracy. There are plenty of real scientists who believe God created the universe. Evolution isn't an assumption, it is a rigorous scientific theory with a giant body of supporting evidence.Fielding's shitty belief system IS his politics. How does it feel to be wrong about everything?

@germanicelt Wow blind right-wing voter much? First of all asking for a "creation scientist" is the biggest oxymoron I've heard in quite some time, that's like asking a dog breeder for a vegan Alsatian. Secondly, if a parliamentary senator hasn't got the brain capacity to hold his own on a political question and answer television program then quite frankly being made a fool of is in the natural order of things.
You raise an interesting point, but the notion of an ABC conspiracy seems to sideline the fact that all beliefs and opinions should be held to account. This setting creationists against athiests is designed to challenge the beliefs of viewers, and look, even if the end result was Creationism being annihlated, you can't feasibly prove that this was the intention. He's a politician: He should be answerable to the beliefs that permeate through his policy.

"That is why they did not have any one on Dawkins level."
There is no creationist out there on Dawkin's level. In fact I am yet to come across a Creationist who actually even knows what evolution is and the mechanisms behind it and the basic scientific education to understand it.
Creationism has no basis in reality, nor science, so of course they're not going to waste their time telling the audience Bronze Age fairy tales.
He's too gutless to admit it. This guy is a prize idiot. Religious beliefs aside, he holds the balance of power in the Senate and has made some utterly brain-dead decisions. He got his senate seat in 2004 because of the stupidity of the Labor apparatchiks who directed voting preferences away from the Greens. He himself received less than 2% of the votes.
urgh, he's making Australia seem so stupid in front of such an awesome man, but I love that Richard Dawkins is making him look stupid aswell :)

Moron.

did Stephen Fielding died?
[I've never understood that phrase after a keyboard cat video either]

Maybe Dawkins knows.
He did invent the word "meme" after all.

'Brain-dead' is apt.

Wow. The phrase "brain-dead politician" really doesn't do this guy justice.

Well deserving of keyboard cat.
Although that cat would have to be ready to play for the whole hour, because Fielding wasn't the only moron on the panel.
