He gave 5 because he potted the blue which is worth 5 points. In this case, potting the yellow and white doesn't affect the amount of points he gave up. Only the highest potted ball is taken into account.

Example: You're on the black, you pot the black and then for some reason you manage to fluke the pink in during the same shot. You therefore give out 7 points to your opponent.
