  • wth? 9 year bermese against 2 year dogs? thats just wrong

  • I think the puggle is going to win

  • This seems like an awful way to gauge your dogs intelligence.

  • you can't compare two two year olds to a nine year old wth, our bernese would blow those two out of the water- especially when theres food involved

  • These tests have almost nothing to do with a dog's intelligence... it takes a PhD to come up with this? It's like taking a hearing test, psychological evaluation and physical fitness test to determine your IQ... clearly the beautiful old Bernese is a bit senile...

  • So So So CUTE! I have a brindle puggle! He is such a stud he's on YouTube under "cutest brindle puggle" and cutest Brindle puggle play's in snow! We're super proud of him! It shows u love Puggles too!!!!

  • wow... they act like they made this test -.- this test was developed by Dr. Stanley Coren and they quoted it line for line without giving him credit

  • I've got a twelve-year-old border collie/Samoyed mix who's scary smart. She gets pissy with us if she sees our suitcases out because usually if we're going on a trip, she's going to the kennel! She won't get into the car but will get into the truck, because she only needs to get into the truck when we're going to the beach. The only thing about smart dogs is keeping them occupied. Thankfully, we have a bunch of geese she can herd!

  • did any one els notice that the last dog may have taken longer but it was also a lot older then the other two dogs!!!!!!

  • I agree. A 9-year old Bernese is like a 95-year old human. Many Bernese never make it to age 10.

  • It also depends on how much they want treats.

My previous dog would have done anything to get a treat. The one i have now just doesn't care as much. I can imagine he would 'give up' just because he doesn't care.

    Both of them labradors.

  • my golden retriever got 25 points total

  • Although you Youtubers must understand that even if they are the same breed they might be a little less or more smart then the dogs on youtube, So even though most Bernese Mountain Dogs are REALLY smart, this one might just be a little less, and yours might be alot more...

    (JUST MY OPINION)

  • My Bernese isn't the smartest either. XD Love her though<3

  • Bernese is funniest and cutest!

  • do they want to show that a bernese mountain dog has alow iq? thats stupid....

  • my english bulldog took the test he got the treat for under the can in 2sec he got the treat from under the table in 2sec and removed his head from the towel in 4sec and he didn't come when I said refrigerator or movie and he came on his name he had 20pts witch surprised me a lot I did not know hw was that smart

  • The problem with this test is that it is biased to being dependent on the personality or comforts and discomforts of a dog. For example, a dog such as a Bulldog is much more likely to sniff out food than a Bernese Mountain dog. This is simply due to the inherent tendencies of the breed or specific animal. It is a fun thing to try, however you cannot make overarching statements without precise and unbiased studies.

  • LOL the bernese just left at the first one haha I have one and it is true that they r little slow, but they are adorable

  • Really BAD test.

as you allmost all have told, that Bernese Mountain Dogs are very smart, is true.. I know the World Champion Dog in rescuing, and that is a Bernese Mountain Dog :D

And again I agree it is not fair to compare two 2 year old, with a 9 year old...

  • badest test i ever see :) LOL

  • 3:12....BMD is so funny!!!

  • My dog, Bernese, never shows any interests to dog treats. And I think most of Bernese so far I have met are in the same way. They only want attention from people.

  • @wgyves1

    agree, my BMD too!

  • worst test ever..

  • Other dogs are linked more in searching of prey. Bernese Mountain dog is a dog of the mountains ,a teamster of cattle, a dog rescuer. That means that you wont attract him by food. By the way. Bernese IQ is actually one of the highest. Real IQ is established by obedience, dogs friendliness, by understanding commands, behavior. This dog is very intelligent.

P.S its not fair to compare a nine year old

  • That is not a real IQ test there, Dogs can not be segmented by how much they are eating and what energy levels do they have. It makes me angry to look at these Bernese Mountain Dog. This dog isn't greedy for eating. If a dog owner is eating then he is eating too because of the friendship instinct. Moreover this dog is slow, but he has a very sweet heart. He is called a "Good Nanny" Because of the kindness and loveliness for kids for a permission from him to lacerate, and rumple him.

  • my gsd got 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

  • my german shepherd is much smarter

  • That Bernese made my day, haha, look at the expression on his face in the introduction, and then he doesn`t find the treat. Haha made my day.

  • My puggle is smarter than that one!!!

  • I have 2 berneses, mother and daughter, and they're alot smarter than the berenes in the video.

  • Bernese dog the best....

  • I have a bernese mountain dog, but she will do a lot better on these test.. if there is food in the house she will know straight away, even if its hidden in a pocket or bag...

  • haha I have two bernese dogs and they are AWESOME! Mine are two and three years old and a ton more responsive. This was hilarious to watch ;)

  • haha Bulldog rulz! i know it ! I must buy it !

  • I love the Bernese Dog! :D

  • haha, I think the berner was smarter than the test. Either she tought it would be to much of an effort to get the treat. Or probably knowing were the treats came from, going to the source of the treats. besides people should not take this test so serious, one dog's behaviour doesn't say anything about the breed. For example berners should be kind to any animals, we used to have a berner who sure liked a bird for breakfast. And she was pure bred.

  • My dog had like 0.5... He's a lab\husky\collie mix big mashup... I found a little bit creepy how they are like:

"designer mutts are smart! Now get yourself one NOW!!!"

  • My chihuahua did surprisingly well at this test which impressed me because chihuahuas are notorious for not being particularly bright on canine scales of intelligence. Also she usually she just cries to get us to do something for her, and refuses or forgets how to do tricks she's been taught in the past.

  • Wow, it's amazing how many idiots ignored the disclaimer at the beginning that this is "just for fun."

  • too bad the small dogs had the blanket touching the ground causing friction making it easier to pull the blanket off. these are the stupidest test i have ever seen.

  • kind of an unfair test... take two small dogs who are lower to the ground and can easily get the treat vs. a dog as huge as the bernese. If anything, the bernese probably decided it was too much work for such a small treat. Also 9 is a pretty "ripe" age for a berner.

  • The Bernese Mountain dog made fun of the test...he was testing the tester...and he succeeded...good dog!!!

  • I have a Bernese Mountain Dog and They are very very smart so all of you that think differnet are wrong..

  • shut up.

  • ahahahah, bernese mountain dogs are very sweet, but not very bright

  • lol my mum has owned bernese for at least 20 years, and they have always been very stupid. Stupid, but still the most loveable!!

  • Bernese' are crazy smart. Just because he's trusting and doesn't get freaked out about the necessity to remove a towel from his head, or because he's a bit oversized, or more inclined to relax than freak out for a treat, doesn't mean he has a lower IQ. There are a lot of tools to measure your dog's learning capacity, sadly this is not one and likely to produce contrary results.

  • @davemonatron EXACTLY!!! Do you have a berner? You seem to be pretty educated about them. haha. :)

  • @welove665 I didn't when I posted my comment last year, but I had been studying the breed and met plenty of Berners. Currently, I do have a 6month old and she's wonderfully trained. Something worth noting is that there is 1 treat that she loves and the others she could take it or leave it. She's also rather calm so towels or random shirts over her head aren't a big deal, she just likes the attention from playing.

  • @davemonatron But its still a treat, and what dog doesnt like treats?

  • try same iq test on humans :D

  • bernese mountain dogs rules-he would win anyway because he's the smartest but the treats were so small

  • My 11 year old Sheltie/Pug mix got a 16. I was surprised, I thought he'd be lower!

  • I'm sure the S A R over the world konw why they do the job with Bernese Mountain Dog!!!!!!!!!

  • My Bernese wouldn't waste his time for that small treat. Dumb humans, give me a bigger treat.Give me a steak, give me a steak......

  • @Indepdude You got that wright ! My Bernese was spoiled and didn't even want to eat dog food at all. When we tried to give it to him he was like- Yo dickhead , i ain't eating this shit, you eat it and i'll have what u r eating! xD So in this test's he would look dumb , but in realty he was very smart dog who did't want to eat shit:) Still missing him......

  • My grandmothers Bernese was really smart. I miss that dog.

  • It was rigged..!!! The Berner was way smarter, he was just trying to be polite to the other contestants.!!

  • that host is smokin hot

  • not the smartest bernese but he also just didn't seem interested either.

  • puggles are kinda ugly. and i guess the bernese just was far tooo bored. and simply not hungry!

  • We have had a bernese mountain dog, a rotweiler mix and the third one is flat coat retriever mix. The bernese was the smartest of them.

  • i'm gonna try this with my Berner! Once he gets old enough, lol.

  • I LOVE THESE DOGS THEYRE LOVERSABLE!

  • My berner got 20 points!

  • bulldog owner cheated when she called Brody. Her voice was much more high pitched and enthusiastic.

  • yea I saw ur comment and listened for it and ur right, she did. XD

  • remember that the lady said to call the dog in the same tone that you would normally. Maybe that's just the way she calls it.

  • Cute video, cute dogs, you gotta love the Bernese Mountain Dog she is adorable.

  • "This is Dog Chow's finest hour." Now there's some bull, dog.
