when i was hunting i came across an old mine that hadnt been tuched now that was a treat to see the only reson i found it was something looked "off" i found some neat stuff in there o plan on going back with a torch to cut the door off the blast storege area thats inside the mine and take the plunger thats back there.
This mine is located on the border of Death Valley National Park. The other track leads to the main haulage shaft (which is inclined and collapsed part way along it's length).
Oh, I thought this vid was from an cart in a mine in Death Valley. I was checking out some pics on Google Maps and decided to look for videos and this one is posted in Death Valley. ???
Just rode an ore cart in the Wyoming upper adit in the Panamint City area. I just posted up my video of it
Oh btw, the cart in the Columbia #2 isn't an ore cart, its a timber transport cart, that's why there are no sides on it, just those U-shaped arm pieces. Ours was considerably heavier, took more time to build up speed. Go check it out bro =P

Thanks for all the nice comments. Riding this cart was really a treat. It's inaccessibility is probably the only reason it's still possible. The lights in this video were not actually not that bright. Just a LED headlamp and LED tactical flashlight. The camera did a good job of amplifying the light.
Nice find!! And still rolling, that's rare. Say, what kind of lights/ camera are you guys using? 600 + lumens? That is a great picture for being in a mine.
I've lived my entire life to explore old mines, and that right there is a rare privilege! I've been in 100s of them and I've never found one with an ore car intact, thank you for sharing the video! Cheers
I use to love exploring Speary/Western Talc area 13-15 years ago. Glad to see not much has change down in there and free E ticket rides. Thanks for the ride and flash back.
I've always wanted to go into those old mines, the thing is that with some abandon mines there are puddles of ground water. It traps dangerous gasses inside and if you break the surface of the water, those gasses are released and then you're screwed.
Western mines don't usually have this problem but gases are always a concern. We use gas detectors and anyone that goes any distance into abandoned mines should as well.
The Columbia #2 has both. There is the main incline shaft that's collapsed about 1/3 of the way down and a ladderway accessed from an adit and short incline on the south side of the hill.

what was in those old wooden crates at the end of that rode in the mine?

They're mostly empty. One had some old blank time cards from when the mine was operating. Very cool.

Too cool! As Loneranger said I've found several carts but they wouldn't roll like this one did! Thanks for the fun! : )

"the one with the long incline"... Maybe he's talking about Grant or Noonday?
