we did a micheal jackson tribute.... as every marching band did... on halloween.... we had to do the thriller dance... and it only seemed necessary to do the dance as cymbal monster
i was watching some lines in the lot at this past DCI show at stanford and it went like this.Drumline warms-up people are entertained,cymbal-line shows up and the whole focus moves to them and incredible amazement follows
i know most people wanna go on bass or snairs i wanted to go on snairs but they putt me on cymbols but im good at snairs but sometimes i have problems one of my hand is faster then the other so it takes practice to make the beat flow
Uhhh....Okay? Every part in the drumline is important and it's not about who gets what but who can play what well with others....I got put on Bass 4 from my freshman to junior year because I had the best timing I didn't have a choice of what I want it was the drumline leader's/director's choice.
now as far as having a faster/slower hand I never heard of that I heard of one hand being stronger than the other. And you probaly wern't put on the snare was b/c you were'nt playing clean with the line
I didn't get snare for Minnesota Brass Inc. and they want me back for cymbals. and for once im happy i didn't get what i wanted because i think ill do good in cymbals. its my new passion, thats why im watching all these cymbal lines video to learn. its like what you said its not about what we want, its whats best for the whole drumline.
Well I'm personaly not a really big follower of a SCV, I'm more towards the BD and Phantom. But it would be awesome if the top bands had sym. lines, that sooooo very much widens drill and coreography. Plus the tonal crashes sound good.
yes duh should be cymbal, but there probably is some symbolisem in there, with the few cymbal lines there are in DCI. Unless you are just referring to the physical cymbal. Then in that case there may also be an interperated symbol.
You're trying the cheapest trick in the "Desperate For Attention" book, namely: putting down the best, and gambling that it'll make you sound authoritative.
News flash: It doesn't make you sound authoritative.
And yes: go Colts! I like them too.
(I know you wrote this 9 months ago, but it's an irresistible target.)
Man I would really like to join the SCV but I live in Texas and are you guys in California? Not many Corps have a cymbal line and I have never seen any like you guys. I feel your pain though for heavier cymbals, I am marching 20 inch HHX, i think Viennese(the second heaviest under Germanic). At our school we played so intense and we have such old cymbals we have cracked and almost shattered 2 pairs of cymbals. Thats why we got new HHX, four of us marching 20 inch heaving pairs.
i dont see how they do it without cutting each others heads off lol...but for i agree completely, the most intense and by far the most dazzling, the BEST combination to have in a line
damn straight SC V! my instructor marched there (89), I ended up marching Cadets... (go figure? the non-cymbal years..) LOVE the tradition! Keep it alive!

try having a your friend do a handstand on his cymbals and then place his legs on your shoulders and pull him up with your cymbals
me and my bud used to always do that when we were messing around at practice looking for fun visual stuff to do
and yes we most definitely did steal that from music city mystique's indoor show in 2006
