I was 11 when this was on I had a big thing about Lynn then and looking at it again I not surprised she was beautiful oh and the singing was pretty good too!!!!!!!
that was the good... they didn't have to bring with them super dancers and a team with great lightning techincs projects and so on as today... it was enough to sing well... everything is more complicated today
One of my best favourite 70's pop songs. Unfortunately enough, this song was flopped in Japan while "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing" became the ORICON #1 hit.
This was an excellent Eurovision entry but it was up against seriously heavy opposition in Apres Toi for Luxembourg which many including me regard as the best Eurovision song ever. That's why it didn't win.
politics got in the way of this certain winner, i believe the seakers were top of the charts pre contest, usual great harmonising, lyn paul did it for me, a confused 10 yr old....
sitting in front of tv cheering n hoping that we win, fuck i was only 10 years old...........................such a long time ago,but at least i have the memories, aint no government can take that away from me!!!!!!
I remember that night- clutching my Radio Times on the floor in front of the TV....ah memories! Peter Doyle and Eve Graham were iconic talents. RIP Peter-you were a legendary performer...and Eve please come back.
Ahhh the happy days of Eurovsion when there were dodgy line to the voting countries, Norway got nil points and Greece and Turkey never voted for each other! Good song too!
@carefreesteve That's right! I forgot, the Greek contigent never voted for the Turkish artists and the Turkish judge never voted for the Greek artists... (And they STILL seem to be rather antagonistic toward each other. Can't they forge peace over a pieve of baklava and strong coffe?)
Very talented band. The girls didn't need to have ultra short skirts and tops with it all hanging out to help sell their records. Shame the same can't be said of many female singers today. Unfortunately it has got to a stage where sex sells rather than talent in many cases which is a shame.
@naturegirl130 Apparently not! They still sang quite well in their granny dress. (What's kind of amusing is that LONG adfter this look was considered "hip", country music artists were STILL dressing like this - glittery suits and all
I can hear an electric guitar but the chaps on stage are playing bass and 2 acoustics. You can see the bass player plugging in, in pre-radio mics and connection days. I presume there's a guitarist in the orchestra pit.
Great performance and a super song, way above Eurovision standards, and I actually think a better song than Waterloo!
This was definitely the best song of the night. But the group's heavy publicity campain didn't go down very well with all the judges (who were present at Edinburgh), and that probably cost the UK the victory.
They should have won for the hairstyles alone, absolutely brilliant.

This is one of the songs, where I like the live version better than the studio version! Simply brilliant and exhilarating!
