Well to heveneternity28, the reason they thought they were thought to be more primitive and uneducated is because they practiced human scarifice and supposedly intelects know the value of human life. Glaciers were as far south as California 10,000 years ago. In the 1500's there is a "little Ice Age". As for Atlantis. It never really existed. Plato invented that story after having heard how the island of Thera (Santorini) blew up.

your confused with the late glacial maximum c 13-10 ka. Last glacial maximum occured approx 20 ka. Plato may have gotten the idea of Atlantis from ancient Egyptian text about a land sunk during an earthquake or possible pole shift- Plato tarnsfered the ancient knowledge into his own version

The galactic center is entirely obscured by cosmic dust and gases, that's why scientists can only see it in the infrared. So, could the Maya see in infrared? Come on, do some research.

i wont start talking about the end of the world.....however even nasa has said that we are going to experience this planet allignment for the first time in 26,000 years and there are litraly thousands of scientists who say this will be turbulant. i must admit i am not a mr doom and gloom guy, but i do also try to remember that we take alot for granted and science is making a very strong argument that this transition will be rough for several years.
