I'd love your solar panels...This is a great stove, I also made a candle in a can stove and put holes inside and it makes a great heater. I look forward to your next ninfty ideas.
i would like a solar panel man i have been attempting to create them by myself for yrs and your videos help so much you are helping save lives thank you much for helping me protect my family
@mixcatcom--Pete, what if I filled this up with the Citronella refill fluid? Wouldn't that act as a large citronella candle/torch and keep the annoying bugs away in the warm weather? I'm sure you could get use out of that purpose in FL, no?
I've seen it where one fella took a one gallon paint can. He drilled some air holes in it, put the one quart toilet paper stove inside the one gallon can. Then he put a couple thin metal rods in a cross pattern on the top of the one gallon to hold a pot. When he was done using it he put everything into the one gallon, put the lid on and it was all self contained. Btw can you get those empty unused cans at your local paint store?
Alcohol doesn't give off carbon dioxide, ever, and it burns cooler than most fuels and can be easily put out with plain water. I was way ahead of you on having the holes near the top. Been looking for a cheap way to heat garage in Michigan in the winter when I'm working. Great Great idea!
Try this with Vegitable oil as fuel. Might have to wrap some thing string wise around it that you can poor alcohol on.. (an outer wick). Colder it is the more string you might need around the can to heat more of the can. Light the alcohol soaked wick and let it burn out in a few minutes. This heats the oil in can to a thinner viscosity alowing for easier lighting of paper w/whicked up oil. My guess is veg oil will burn much much longer but a little more smokey?
I could use the solar panel to help keep my remote lighting batteries charged for lighting out in the field. lol i made something similar in boyscouts as far as the stove goes because sterno just wasn't cutting it
excellent video-- looks like a good idea for the power out and a quick meal out of my DIY dehydrated veggs or pre-soaked beans with a hand full of small jerky
Would love to have a panel but i'm in canada eh! Looking to buy an electric bike/mopped any day now and wanted to charge it with solar.
Great stove nfo, ty, maybe if you insulated the coal starter outter wall, ppl call them "rocket stoves", they say they are more efficient and if true should lower cooking time and fuel consumption ~ Maybe worth a try

Awesome bro, this is the easiest burner to build that I've seen on yt. are you gonna find a way to use the solar panels for a survival situation maybe a battery charger?
The solar panels were the first thing I noticed. Are those the ones you made out of the LCD? they would be good to charge a cell phone. or if they make more than 12 volts they would keep my truck that sits so much battery a trickle charge. stove works good what store did you find the high percentage of alcohol? probably best to set it on the stove in the house, so it wouldn't burn up any thing.
Great idea ....... I bet that charcoal chimney heats up and adds more heat .... I am looking to get in to solar at my farm that panel would be a great start.
a hobo stove I used to live in orlando 5 years ago, I still have my daughter living in oviedo, now in arizona, we have had a cold spell go threw here the last couple of days, everyone has sold out on space heaters here so this little stove will work good, i would put those solar panels to good use here, I have alot of videos on my garden solar panels, thinking about building a bigger panel out of all the little garden solar panels I have, I got them really cheap at a grocery store here.
@jjaayypp963 As long as the holes are not in the can as the alc will evaporate. In the wind screen, that was something I had kicking around and re-purposed; Thanks for the ideas!
@mixcatcom I was talking about putting the holes in the charcoal starter on the, (upside down), new bottom. That makes a pretty neat little portable cookstove. with the holes on both ends, you could burn small branches, for wood fuel also. I find natural charcoal around the hills where I live, could use that for fuel in the charcoal starter cookstove. A multi-fuel cookstove, Great Idea, I'll have to get one of those.

pause at @3:24 to see Pete ask himself, "What the hell gadget of mine is going off now??" lol
I love this video. I can't wait to try this living on Long Island and seeing how brutal this past winter was.

Hey pete, that is probably the cheapest and easiest stove to build ( ever )
Maybe its not your idea ( idk ) but you showed it to me and i think its great. thx for that.
And its also great you can close the stove perfectly off and bring it with you.
I would make a few extra cutouts right at the top to let the fumes from the stove get out better and then it will burn even stronger.
Cheers mate and regards to your wife
