  • Doctors have strayed from their central mission, and Dr. Berwick calls for us once more to focus on the fundamental reason most of us chose to become physicians comforting and improving the health of our patients. Should all patients be in control?

  • Dr. Berwick's speech touches the core of the many challenges we face as patients. I also appreciate his personal stories which we can all relate. The Top Hospitals for Patient Experience by WomenCertified is working on raising the bar for patient experience. We are eager to support Dr. Berwick's vision!

  • We need to do what they do in South America......Storm the damn white house and capitol bld and throw out these traitors

  • HC going NHS/UK style - over my dead body - and thats the point of the mass-murderer Berwick.

  • Laws are in place for a reason. HIPPA is the defining force for the safety and well being of both patients and doctors/facilities...there is obviously a rhyme to every reason and I would be willing to bet that he would choose power over money any day. This man should move to Britian where his communist radical views would be appreciated.

  • Just another radical communist thug of the Obama Administration. We take it all back starting in November.

  • @AtlasObjectivist You watch the above video and that is what you have to say? Do you just parrot every conservative thing you see and hear? Do you have any original ideas of your own?

  • @AramNai I know how painful the truth and facts are for liberals, but don't worry the adults will be coming to take back the government soon.

  • @AtlasObjectivist The guy above is supporting "evidence-based care," making decisions on treating patients based on available medical tests rather than money.

And your response is to call him a "radical thug"? How about some "truth and facts" to support that claim.

  • @AramNai Um.... let's see, how about the fact he now works for the radical socialist thug Obama administration. What else do you want to know? More to the point what else is there to know?

  • @AtlasObjectivist Ironic that you referred to "the adults" coming. Clearly you don't have a clue about the subject at hand and are simply regurgitating insults without context.

Berwick has been a doctor and healthcare expert for decades and is highly respected by both Democrats and Republicans alike.

  • @AramNai note to aramnai - he is no longer respected by anyone except the radical socialists seeking to destroy this country. Why do you think Obama had to sneak him in?

  • @AtlasObjectivist You could not be more wrong. He has the support of three former CMS heads under Republican presidents. One of those, Thomas Scully, said this:

"(Don is) universally regarded and a thoughtful guy who is not partisan."

Berwick is also supported by the American Association of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association, and the American Hospital Association.

  • @AtlasObjectivist If suggesting better patient care is counted as 'radical,' then you should despair for America.

  • @Nassmagic101 LOL, you're from the U.K. - what the hell do you know about patient care!? Worry about your own country and we will deal with eliminating the radical communist thugs from our current government.

  • @Nassmagic101 I just fell out of my chair laughing - yesterday the NY Times reported the U.K is moving away from socialist health care and decentralizing much of the process. Looks like Obama only stands with Cuba, China and Venezuela with his health care plan.

  • @AtlasObjectivist 'Decentralising' meaning giving local authorities more say in how the budget is spent at a regional level, and using the private sector for management etc. But guess what? Still free at the point of entry, still 19 places above the US in the WHO HC world rankings... and was recently placed 3rd out of 7 countries on 'quality care' by the Commonwealth Fund... whereas the US came in at 6th.

Overall rankings: UK- 2, US- 7/7

I was born in the US, but thank God I live in the UK.

  • Is this guy a real doctor? I doubt.

  • @twoworldsasone No, not really. He went to some school named Harvard (probably an online diploma factory in Central America) where he got an MD in pediatrics. I've never even heard of pediatrics. Probably something to do with fish.

  • "The decision is not whether or not we will ration care — the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open.”

  • This guy is a sick criminal.

  • LOL! Since when does the government treat anyone as an individual?

I work with insurance and I have to say things like "I'm sorry Medicare/caid doesn't cover that." or "I see you need it but Medicare/caid will not cover." More fun is they cover if you have this diagnosis but not that. we need all Dr's notes and a legible Dr's. signature. Wait...the Dr missed one thing. We have to start over.

Most insurances follow Medicare. The government was dictating your healthcare before the bill.

  • How exactly will his fears be ameliorated under government run heath care? It seems to me an act of faith to believe that his litany of indignities will be swept away if the government is in charge. 100,000 years of human history strongly asserts the opposite of what he hopes.

  • I love Don Berwick. Too bad we don't have more officials like him.

  • Many Many Thanks! You nailed it -A Patient

  • Brilliant man. A hero.
