We will definitely have more powerful lasers in the future, but they won't be like light sabers. A lightsaber offers resistance when you are cutting somethin, a laser doesn't. The lightsaber also goes out and stops at a certain length, the laser goes off into infinity.

the laser just burn in the focal point.

thats why if you want to burn someting, yiu have to adjunst the focus to get a very small dot that concentrates the energy.

if the ligth is not focused to a point, does not produce heat al all.
