  • My E6600 is @ 3.4Ghz (378 x 9) with 1.3 vCore. It won't go any quicker than that without more power, would it be safe to give it more power? It only has the standard heat sync, 2 extractors and no water cooling. At the min I'm getting about 50-60 *C running win 7. Is that cool enough?

  • @applehelpification You're probably fine so long as you're giving it 1.45V or less and your temps are < 70C under extended load (say 15 mins at 100%).

  • and they he boots....and then it crashes.

  • @boldswede That's not a core dump, that's a DOS CPU info screen. There was no OS.

  • lol nice vid

  • I have my E6600 B2 @ 3,6 GHz and get 65° in Prime95 max. Load

Cooler is Mugen 2 with good Case-Cooling,

    Vcore is 1,525-1,5 Volt

Mainboard is Asus P5W DH Deluxe Wifi-AP,

    Ram is PNY 2GB 667 and MDT 2GB 667 @ DDR2-600 CL4

    I get 15760 Points in 3D Mark 06 with my GTX 260 @ 729/1458/1296

  • phenom II 4X 3,56

  • My Q6600 runs 3.4 Ghz on Air 24/7 on 1.437 Vcore...Idle's at 38c and max load at 60c...But im runin it almost 48 hrs and does a pretty good job,my cooling is a Xigmatek S1283...

  • e6600 @ 3.5GHZ with a vcore of 1.320

  • how did u get the mobo to boot on 400FSB??

My limit is about 355, want to get my q6600 up to 3.2 but it just wont boot

  • Nice! I've got an old e2160 that's not fast enough. Can only get it to 2.5 GHz from stock speed of 1.80ghz.

I'll have to get one of those bad boys, for my PC's next birthday :D

  • i got an E6600 @ 3.4ghz... what cpu volts you using for 3.6ghz man? thanks :)

  • ICFX3200 is a intel chipset with crossfire... AMD has never made an chipset compatible with intel processors... they only do AMD/ATI with their chipsets... others like the Nforce boards etc is made by nvidia just with amd processors or intel... etc

  • Ok, perhaps you weren't paying attention. This is a DFI ICFX3200-T2R/G. That board uses an ATI RD600 chipset. AMD acquired ATI before the RD600 chipset was finished (by a couple months). As such, the RD600 northbridge is an AMD product under ATI branding. AMD has no further plans to develop chipsets for Intel processors--the RD600 only came to be because the product was so close to market already. It's a shame--the ICFX was the best motherboard I've ever had.

  • maybe it was a one thing only :F

  • Yeah, but mines 65nm :p... I win!

  • Later 65nm steppings were a lot more overclocking friendly. The chip I used for this video was first-run silicon.

  • This is kinda amusing to me. I have a 4ghz q6600 on air that's 24/7 stable. I lapped the q6600, alon gwith the zalman 9700 and it's on a 790i ultra SLi motherboard. (DDR3 allows for higher clocks) Theres also the 130cfm fans exhausting hot air less than an inch from the zaloman 9700. Loud as hell, but that speed combined with nice headphones is soooo worth it.

  • The Core 2 line has really matured since I made this video a year and a half ago. 4GHz at that time was an absurd expectation and 4.4GHz was completely nuts. Now, John Q. Anybody can hit 4GHz with their 45nm gear. Good work, Intel.

  • did u have any problems between 3.4 and 4 ghz?instability?did it dissapear after u passed 4ghz?thanx mate

  • This was a first generation E6600. Most of them wouldn't even do 3.4GHz. If you have a modern E6600, you've got a good chance at 3.6-3.8, but don't expect >4GHz. This chip maxed out at 3.6GHz for general work. I just thought it would be fun for the video to see what my max "suicide run" would be.

  • yeah but i cant juge this you have a very good pc

  • you dont have core 2 duo you have some kind id oentium pro II III wtf??

  • sorry but on the second part on your bios screen i saw pentium pro

    wtf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It says Pentium Pro/II/III/etc family. The Core 2 architecture is closely related to that lineage as opposed to the Netburst (P4) one.

  • oh i see because they are based on pentium ms which were based on p3 p2 etc thanks for reminding me

  • Good job man but its not realy much work :)

  • On a first-batch E6600, even getting 4.0GHz to POST is nearly impossible on air. I don't think your comment is being fair.

  • WOW!!!!, useless thought, a nice 2.4 to 3.33 ghz or a little more is a very GOOD OC, no need of more horsepower, i know that very well cuz i have a Q6600 and OC to 3.33ghz and thats it, i dont need more (the 4 cores do the job) and perfect 24/7 stable

  • 'What a fuck man !!!

HOW THE HELL YOU CAN RUN AT 4.40GHz

    is your system stable?

    you are an fucking professional

    5/5 man love it !!!

  • read the description, it crash if you work with the pc

  • everybody can do that. But it won't be able to run 24/7 stable

  • No, not everybody can. Without this particular chipset, you'd be lucky to even get video at 4.0GHz. Also, it's right in the description that it isn't stable at 4.4GHz. Does anybody even bother to read the description?!

  • if it makes you feel anybetter, i read the descriptions :D

  • In some strange way, yes.

  • get a girl friend XD

  • Believe it or not, they're more expensive than computers. It's all about economics. :)

  • no seriously man, there's been a huge price drop. got one from ebay, twenty freakin bucks! good for hours of entertainment....

  • a girlfriend has periods where she could either turn nasty, have nasty attitude, nasty actions...leading to end of relationship..or cheating...A computer at it's worst needs reformating...but it's never ever going to let you down for good...even in bed.

  • FR33M4N01 you noob. LN2 is common for serious overclocking, it's nothing new.

  • woohoo you can oc past 4ghz i bet you bsod b4 you even login :P i can pump my x2 to past 4ghz an watch myself bsod lol and if you some how are running stable like that id like to see a video of some load temps and tests

  • Im getting an E6600 soon are they good and how well do thye over clock apparetnly really good at overclocking

  • They're quite good at overclocking. You can expect 3.4GHz pretty much guaranteed, but 3.6GHz isn't uncommon.

  • I know, got 3.4 easy on mine!

  • thats not even stable.

  • As stated in the video description...

  • Very nice, I love to see how far these chips go. I'm actually running the same board and chip! Go figure...

    System Specs for mine:

    Motherboard - DFI ICFX3200-T2R/G

    Processor - Intel C2D E6600 OC'ed @ 3.01GHz

    RAM - Crucial Ballistix DDR2 - 800

    HDD - WD Raptor 10kRPM 150GB and 74GB

    Graphics - 2900XT 1GB DDR4 x2 (Crossfire)

    Power - 1000 Watt Silverstone

    Monitor - Dual 22" LG LCD's

  • How do you like those 2900XTs? The drives have matured a lot and seem to deliver performance on par with an 8800GTX.

  • A single 2900XT w/ the 1GB DDR4 (standards have 512MB DDR3) is about 30-40ish points behind the 8800 Ultra on 3dBenchmark06! I can't prove this because I don't have an 8800 Ultra, but the test results are there. Having two of these is insane. The question isn't what games can my computer handle, its more of which games don't cap out at 300fps? lol GTA:SA caps out at 300FPS, and I have yet to see the computer drop from 299...

  • Motherboard ASUS- IPIBL-LA

Processor: Intel- Core 2 Quad @ 2.40 Ghz

    Random Access Memory- 3.00 GB DDR2 1033

    HDD- HP PMD 320GB

Graphics- XFX Geforce 8800 Ultra XXX 768 Mb GDDR3

    Power Supply- OCZ 850 Watt

    Moniter- HP W2007 (April) 2007 Widescreen 20"

  • wow, 2ghz OC and still able to boot, nice. Those C2D's really do kick some ass, cant wait to get my e6750

  • whats the point if you wont be able to boot into windows and not stable.

  • There is no point to this type of overclocking other than doing it to show you can. That's the entertaining part.

  • Mind booting into windows so we can see if it works? Also run orthos for several hours to see if its stable.

  • You might try reading the video's description to the side. People keep asking this question, but I answered it before this video was even published.

  • My bad man, sorry

  • It's Prime95 stable to about 3600-3700MHz.

  • can you run cpu over 4G into windows os??

see my vid "Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Overclock 4G ( Air Cool ) 3D Test"

  • I play css and a teamate of mine has phase change cooling. Not 100% sure what that does but it's better than water cooling I think.

  • i have a phase changer

What it does is takes a refridgerant, heats it up until it reaches the CPU, then pulls all the heat off (or as much as it is made to) so you can overclock to higher speeds with lower temperatures, which mean it will more likely run.

it is much better than water cooling

  • I got from 1.86 GHz to 2.2 GHz on my Dell XPS 700.

  • i have to say, that's not too much

but for a Dell, i'm impressed

i always thought that dells can not oc

because it's BIOS doesn't let you

  • i got my amd4200 x2 to 2.7ghz.....AMD aparently isnt as good to overclock anymore :(

  • hahah get an intel there pwning amd!!

  • amd sucks for games now. Bottem Line

  • i knew this guy who overclocked his processer to 5ghz with a water system but a few days later his processer exploded o it was 2 funny

  • My processor is still chugging along. It's been about seven months since I bought it. I normally run it at 3.6 or 3.7GHz--not what I show it doing here. This was just for presentation.

  • nice . i wanna overclock my e6600 too but i dunno how :(

  • HOLY $H1T DUDE THATS AWESOME!

  • r u kidding

intel core 2 duo over clocks like a beast

ive seen 4ghz stable with a zalman 7900 air cooler

one day im ganna liquid nitrogen cool an intel core 2 duo.........

    imagane

that running at like 10 ghz

  • lol 10GHz? good luck pal. Them things can freeze your damn processor / motherboard and anything around it. I have a liquid nitrogen cooling system but i can't use it because My stuff won't run hot enough for it not to freeze.

  • ... so what ur saying is that if you run your ln2 system, them your computer doesn't run...

send your cpu back and get another

    you have a cold bug.

  • LOL liquid nitrogen, some nut will probably try that soon!!

  • man im gonna try and overclock mine at that speed one day.

  • what is your vcore? how many voltage should i set if im going to run my e6600 @ 3.8ghz?

  • E6600s often won't do 3.8GHz stable without exotic cooling regardless of voltage.

  • ill be building my core 2 soon.I appreciate you video.thanks

  • im all dizzy hold the camera still.ns work...a bit over the top though.can u say bluescreen..

  • Sorry for the camera jitter, but I was busy using the keyboard while the video was shooting so I could show it all happening (less chance of people yelling FAKE! FAKE! FAKE!).

  • this board is sexy man... i am playing with one of those right now ^^

  • does anyone know where i can find out how to overclock my e6600 to 3.08 ghz on a evga 680i mobo and also the programs to make sure everything is running right and testing it?

  • Go to EVGA Bios Menu. Select 3rd item from List "FSB xxx" Unselect Auto and select either Link or Unlink. Adjust your FSB speed to see the CPU speed changes. Reload windows to see if it runs. If not, lower the FSB speed until it gets stable. You can use "Prime95" to stress test your CPU stability and use "SpeedFan4.32" to check your CPU temp.

    Hope this help.

  • what's next on the list AMD CPU with intel chip set ? lol

  • what cooling are you using?

  • Arctic Cooling "Freezer 7 Pro"
