  • Chinese Man brought me here.

  • pure brilliance

  • sorry, meant Davy Graham ~ but made famous by BJ

  • I absolutely love this piece.

  • my dad used to use this piece of music to test his speakers with in the 60's..he was a huge Al Stewart fan as I am since it's what I was brought up listening to!

  • is it me or it sounds like "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" by George Harrison

  • @nunchaku1992 Or even Anji by the great departed Bert Jansch

  • The version i have on my record is diferent to the all the ones I can find on youtube - it has this fast descending picking bit about 20 seconds into it which is the best part..I dont why it's missing here.

  • Do you have something like guitar tabs or a lesson for this song? I'm dying to learn this song because it's great! However, I can't seem to find some good tabs...

  • @dezoveelstemarc yes !!! Some who I am in an agreement with I would love the tabs to On The Boarder!

  • I'm not going to make a clever joke about the people who disliked this video. They are just twats and should be shot at dawn

  • @sunonthewindow Ok but i ain't payin' for the ammo. metal's not cheap these days! I say we wrap them with a vest of meat and let them run from LIONS. =)

  • al is the best!!!

  • the version is low quality and the images are a little, um, random, but okay great song +++

  • did a cover of this song with my band love it :).

  • Love this song, it's so simple but so pure..

  • I'm almost there,, I 've loved her for 30 years ,,, from a distance,, only time and distance kept us apart ....and now,

at the turning of the tides,,, I finally have one last chance to claim my Lovely Julie san. To be my own..

Its a good deal......... I'll take it.

  • Well said Denise..

    Crowds gathered round....

  • The perfect blend of music and subtle lyrics. The guitars are breathtaking. I'd love to see more stuff from Al's early years here: Denise at 16, Electric Los Angeles Sunset.

  • "Fill Your Head With Rock" was one of the first albums I bought and it did a lot to help shape my musical tastes.

  • What a memories in 1969..

    The guitar is Amazing...!!!

    Thank you...

    Lauder64.-

    Caracas, Venezuela.

  • I have to say that this is one clever little song. Al Stewart is a brilliant musician always, but I really like this little gem.

  • But: I just figured out the chords and the progression on E low and guess what: it looks a hell of a lot like 'While my guitar gently weeps.' I treasure the song however, because I also heard it on 'Fill your head with rock. Remember 'Six days upon the road' on the same album?

  • That's what i tought when i listened this song the first time!

  • Pure excellence..

    and thank you...

  • Yessss, I knew the song from the wonderful LP 'llena tu cabeza de rock", spanish version of '"Fill your head with rock"'. Now, it is long available at the iTunes-Store. In my opinion, it is Al Stewart's best song, and Al being a wonderful singer.

  • You are lucky : Youtube just suppress the sound of my video with this song... problem of "author right", or somenthing like that... Did you have a special authorisation from All Stewart ?

It's one of my favorite songs !!!

  • Love at first bite..

  • The guitar in this song is AMAZING.

  • Said the apple to the orange:

"Oh I wanted you to come

Close to me and kiss me to the core

Then you might know me like no other orange

    Has ever done before"

  • With the words of this song I declared my love to a girl long time a go. 23 years later we're still married. sam

  • Congratulations. A lovely story and a lovely tune.

  • @samlettuce Cool story, Sam. Congrats!

  • @samlettuce

If ever you feel like breaking up (god forbid) you know what to do:

"said the apple to the orange, make like a banana and split"

  • The 1st time I heard this one was on an album called fill you're head with rock, I'm going back donkey's years. On this album were people like Taj Mahal.

    Anyone listened to this?

  • Yep, I've still got it though I haven't listened to it for some years.

There are some great tracks on there.

  • Yes, I still have the extremely crackly double album version and, I, too heard this song for the first time on that. I fell in love with it like many others before me.

  • classic al stewart lovely same as daveys anjie

    timeless

  • dude, finally ppl hu know this song! no one knows it here! thanx for posting.

  • Beautiful love song. The lead guitar is speeded up.

  • Lovely

  • Does any other song describe love as good as this one?

  • Not since the Smurfs split up.....

  • The song is on the ubiquitous "Fill your head with rock" that came out eons ago - and which I have a very crackly copy. It is one of my fav tracks. I wish I could find my own little apple.

  • top track - Al Stewart using very few words unusually.

  • Brilliant, simple and profound. I was once an orange and found someone to rhyme with me, we're still together 23 years later.

  • Grazzie babe from England....when you come in Sac let me know...I will pick U up at the airport...Love,Eugenia

  • This song kills me, in a good way....I love it.

  • As far as i can remember Jimmy Page plays guitar on this track!

  • I read somewhere that Stewart taught Page guitar at some point.

  • i remember hearing a very fast licks in it, but its absent here!Is there a different version?

  • i have the version you talk about with fast licks on guitar - i havent heard this one before but its virtually the same-cant remember where i got my version from now

  • Who are you?

You take one of my favourite songs, attach images which I appreciate almost 100% (not too keen on the silhouettes unless its a reference to Plato) and have an obvious French connection. Kind of spooky doppelganger feeling.

    But nice work

  • awsome

  • I've always loved this - a little gem

  • played this album to death.....

  • this song is pretty even tho its weird !! lol

  • This beautifull piece inspired me to learn guitar picking 32 years ago!

  • This beautifull guitar piece inspired me to learn guitar picking about 32 years ago!

  • What a sweet little tune, I love it. Thanks for sharing such good vibes.

  • This is a beautiful song. I totally love the LP 'zero she flies!'

  • thanks for sharing; very simple but beautiful with a classic ending that still makes me smile!

  • It's over 30 years since I have heard this , thanks for posting, it's still as fresh as it was then.
