my dad used to use this piece of music to test his speakers with in the 60's..he was a huge Al Stewart fan as I am since it's what I was brought up listening to!
The version i have on my record is diferent to the all the ones I can find on youtube - it has this fast descending picking bit about 20 seconds into it which is the best part..I dont why it's missing here.
Do you have something like guitar tabs or a lesson for this song? I'm dying to learn this song because it's great! However, I can't seem to find some good tabs...
@sunonthewindow Ok but i ain't payin' for the ammo. metal's not cheap these days! I say we wrap them with a vest of meat and let them run from LIONS. =)
The perfect blend of music and subtle lyrics. The guitars are breathtaking. I'd love to see more stuff from Al's early years here: Denise at 16, Electric Los Angeles Sunset.
But: I just figured out the chords and the progression on E low and guess what: it looks a hell of a lot like 'While my guitar gently weeps.' I treasure the song however, because I also heard it on 'Fill your head with rock. Remember 'Six days upon the road' on the same album?
Yessss, I knew the song from the wonderful LP 'llena tu cabeza de rock", spanish version of '"Fill your head with rock"'. Now, it is long available at the iTunes-Store. In my opinion, it is Al Stewart's best song, and Al being a wonderful singer.
You are lucky : Youtube just suppress the sound of my video with this song... problem of "author right", or somenthing like that... Did you have a special authorisation from All Stewart ?
The 1st time I heard this one was on an album called fill you're head with rock, I'm going back donkey's years. On this album were people like Taj Mahal.
Yes, I still have the extremely crackly double album version and, I, too heard this song for the first time on that. I fell in love with it like many others before me.
The song is on the ubiquitous "Fill your head with rock" that came out eons ago - and which I have a very crackly copy. It is one of my fav tracks. I wish I could find my own little apple.
i have the version you talk about with fast licks on guitar - i havent heard this one before but its virtually the same-cant remember where i got my version from now
You take one of my favourite songs, attach images which I appreciate almost 100% (not too keen on the silhouettes unless its a reference to Plato) and have an obvious French connection. Kind of spooky doppelganger feeling.
Chinese Man brought me here.

Close to me and kiss me to the core
Then you might know me like no other orange
Has ever done before"
