hey man how are you? I have a S/C 04 GT with a v1 t-trim and comp cams. Somebody showed me this video. My 1/4 mile times suck, but I am goign through the traps at 111-115 mph some times (4.10's). My best time is a 12.9 with a 2.1 60'. Do you have the stock rear-end (other then gears?) What about transmission? Drive shaft? do you not have problems with the stock stuff? Sorry for all the questions man! Take care!
@swooshonln w/ a T-trim and cams, you should be near 500 rwhp and 125 mph. This vid is 3 years old. At that time, the diff, tranny and axles were stock, but not anymore. Driveshaft was and still is stock. If you dragrace a lot with slicks, everything will break. But of those things, only the T45 gave me problems. The other stuff never broke, but I did occassionally need to replace the clutches in the diff. You should worry more about the 114 mph. You're about 100 rwhp down.
@TGarzarel I am keeping the boost down real low because I am on the stock motor still. 7.5 PSI making around 430 to the wheels. ( around 400 rwtq) . I dont drag race much, only been out a few times. Would love to see low 12's though.
@swooshonln Unless your car weighs 4000lbs, your probably making a lot less than 430 rwhp. Dunno, maybe something happened since you dynoed your car. 111-114 trap speeds are more consistent with 340-350 rwhp, which is typically the power level one makes at 8 psi with a centrifugal. Go intercooled and crank that boost up. I was making 500 rwhp with my stock shortblock at 15 psi. It'll hold, if the tune is good. Having a race gas tune would be further insurance.
@TGarzarel well that is as fast as my gears will let me go.. even with 500 rwhp I would still only be doing 115 top in 4th.... it would just get there quicker. if I added a bigger tire in the back I would be able to increase my MPH im sure to close to what you think I should be getting.
@swooshonln I have several sets of street tires. The tallest is 28" (255/55/17), you won't run out of gear with those. I have 4.10s too, and with 26" slicks, I cross the traps at over 130 mph, still in 4th gear. Slicks swell up at the top end, so the the rpms aren't that high, around 6500 +/-
It all depends on what your goals are....a fun street car or fast car on the strip. A Kenne Bell or Whipple with do both but is expensive. A centrifugal will give you a fast car on the strip, but won't be as fun on the street.
id prolly want a fun/fast street car. Did you put different cams in your Mustang or are they stock? i was considering putting a set of cams maybe porting the heads too... would cams + a KB supercharger work well together?
i have a question...i have an 04GT and am wondering if i should do a forced induction setup but am also a little worried that the 2valve heads will not be able to handle the boost...i know u said u have over 200 passes on your motor but is your motor all stock besides the supercharger and if so do u hit boost regularly when driving it on the street, or do u try and keep it out of boost as much as possible...thanks
I don't try to keep out of boost at all, but centri blowers build boost more gradually then roots or twin screws. So its a lot easier on the engine, and the power's there whenever you need it.
About 40k miles on the car. Yes, there was some weight reduction: slicks/skinnies (-50lbs), racing seats (-65 lbs), swaybar/bumper removal (-40 lbs), tubular k-member (-35lbs), Al flywheel (-10 lbs). Thats all I could think of off the top of my head.
I strongly recommend getting a 3-core front mount intercooler with your Vortech. Its safer and you'll get more power. You're going to look for more power eventually, so might as well get it done now.
Nice run I have just about the same setup but only was able to run a 12.2 @ 112 with a 1.66 60'. I have 4:10's what gears are you running?

@67mustang97 That's a good ET for that MPH. In this video I was using 4.10s with 28" slicks.

how much boost are you running on stock internals to make those numbers?
v1 t-trim right? Intercooled?
swooshonln 2 years ago
V1 S-trim, intercooled. It was tuned out to 6400rpms, where it makes 14 psi. This is an old video, I added blower cams and I'm making 50+ rwhp now.

I usually get 60 ft times in the 1.5-1.6s range. The other (in car) video I just posted was a 1.511.
TGarzarel 2 years ago
sick and fast car, you should put more suspension upgrade to help you out on the launch.

-470 rwhp on race gas
-440 rwhp with a safe pump gas tune
-stock shortblock
