  • The playing starts at 2:28

  • @Will137 yeah sorry it was early days of my videos on youtube, this video is crap I wouldn't mind doing it again properly, if I could dig one of these pedals up.

  • why not just get duncan blackouts?

  • @khiane00 ...its probably meant for single coil pick ups....seems you dont know much about guitars

  • @jameschoi999 well I sincerely apologize for my existence on this earth cause of my lack of knowledge of guitars and questions that are deemed stupid. I should never assume that musicians are willing to share their knowledge and info. on youtube. which is one of the things that I thought was great about musicians is that they're always willing and open to sharing their knowledge and passion of music to others. No matter how stupid the question. Guess every once in a while u run into an asshole.

  • @khiane00 dude chill! all i said was you dont know much about guitars and i explained it that its for SINGLE COIL PICK UPS... just chill im assuming ur in a bad mood

  • @jameschoi999 didn't at all mean to be defensive so my apologies. Im also merely researching on here to see if anything on here that i dont know about that can improve the sound of my guitars.

  • @khiane00 alright alright chill, but yeah if your looking for NU metal this is the type of pedal u wanna get if ur not gonna use seymours as pick ups or having standard shit stock ones from epi or sqiuer.

  • Comment removed

  • @khiane00 not everyone wants a low range of tonality...but its fucking good....i wanna get a pair for my bc rich :P

  • why did you decide to get rid of this pedal?

  • Kind of makes the Strat singles sound like P90s or Jazzmaster pickups. I don't really hear it approaching humbucker thickness - only double coils or stackers can really go there.

  • i use a fender telecaster and when im using a high gain clean sound for my rhythem, i want a pedal that i can press to boost up the volume and fatten my sound, even if i have gain turned up on my amp (vox valvetronix, its quite a clean sound even with the gain up). is this the pedal for me ? someone please help me out !

  • Gawd I want every pedal in the world I should just stop looking and buy tehm all.

  • Really mate showing it on an overdrive channel would be most impressive .... you would go from light od to heavy od into a tube od just with volume boost and would get compression too.

Also you used your vid cam mic yeah? Bad eq for comparisons plus you let the input overload when you got louder.

  • @AlienSexDog I don't have this pedal anymore but you are right. It was the best I could do at the time. My newer pedal demos are much cooler! :) It was just a camera mic

  • Thanks for posting, I was looking for a way to boost the pickups on my tele to match the rest of my humbucking guitars, very informative, i think i'll get one of these pedals :-)

  • Buy a TUNER!

  • Sounds great for solos, but I'm mainly rhythm. How is it for rhythm work?

  • bd is Typonese for dB. Peace...

  • Single coil (Strat style) pickups have that annoying 60 cycle hum. The best after market pickup I've found for my Strat is the DiMarzio HS-3 which is hum canceling. Single coil pickups by nature are weak. The DiMarzio HS-3's put out only 93mV so if you want to compete with a Les Paul (humbucking style) you do need to do a few mods and the Hs-3's and a decent booster pedal like this is a good place to start. This pedal may be a bit hot (6db) at its minimum setting for solos. 3bd is plenty.

  • question: what happens to the 60 cycle hum if im using a single coil? will the hum get louder when i crank this pedal up?

  • Hi,

It's a volume boost so if you have that problem it might do that yes. Try noiseless pickups man, I've never missed that buzz since :)

  • @kuringmundo the hum would be louder, but i dont recommend the noiseless pickups, to me they sound dead. i'd just get a hood noise gate and it would help out a lot

  • what if im using a Telecaster?

    still good for blues?

  • if you want some booster yes, i use it with semihollows les pauls telecaster and stratocasters and its good. and plz intheblues TUNE your guitar before making a video

  • Does someone knows if this pedal is the same as a compressor pedal? can I use this pedal and a distortion at the same time? or it will give me too much feedback? If somebody know please let me know ,thanks!

  • its different. Compressors flatten out your volume this just is a volume boost pedal :)

  • hi

    quick question

is this pedal good for blues?

i mean is it good for doin' blues solos and riffs?

    would you recommended for blues?

  • yeah its great dude, if u play a strat or gibson you'll enjoy it if I got a good tone on my amp i just his this thing for solos

  • i play hard rock with a 5150 im hoping this will give the amp a little more punch and sustain for solos

  • Thanks for taking the time to film & produce this. I am looking at boosting my signal, and was wondering about these things. Really appreciate the information. Thanks.

  • you're welcome mate, thanks for the nice comments

  • hi..i have the fender blues deluxe, and i dont want my tone to be colored by distortion pedals..do you think this booster will give me enough crunch and saturation as a distortion pedal give..thanks

  • it wont give that much sustain, and it does tamper with the sounds a minute amount anyway, but if you want to get the crunch and sustain, i advise you to look at some overdrive pedals instead, such as the bluesbreaker 2 from marshall. and although the boss-DS1 is quite rubbish, a keeley modded DS1 does produce a very good crunch and sustain, so ya here are two possible solutions. good luck.

  • has anyone tried this pedal on a little humbucker like jeff beck jr?

does it still make a difference in tone or would it be a waste of money?

  • If you used a active humbucker could you get some heavy metal distortion from it?

  • Not really sure mate, sorry. I could give it a try and let you know

  • so if i plug my telecaster into this PU booster then into a distortion and an amp. would it provide a humbucker, hardrock kind of sound?

  • yes, there are 2 different settings Hot Humbucker/Vintage Humbucker (and neither 3)

  • I wanted a pedal that can make my mexican strat, sound like a american in the neck position could this pedal do this?

  • never noticed the difference

  • might be time to get some good speakers ;)

  • ohh a lefty

  • your low e sounds out of tune, oh well. but man that pedal sounds niiice, theres one on craigslist now for $40.

  • sounds like a great pedal for hendrixifying your strat

  • how about overdrive? does it color your tone in overdrive??

  • Not really unless you use either 1 or 2 on the pedal selection. gives the strat a different vibe

  • ok thx, i also want my jag to have a more humbucker kind of sound cause now it sounds really thin and not very rock :/

  • i'm playing a fender jaguar and i'm searching a pedal to make my bridge pickup a bit fatter since it has a lot of trebble, is this a good pedal to choose??

  • replace the pickups!

    try "tonerider"

    ;)

  • I have this in my chain. I play Ibanez RG series guitars and my amp is a Hughes & Kettner Trilogy. On the crunch channel with this unit at about 16db it kicks ass! FAIR WARNING THOUGH.....If you love super heavy gain like I do when you play metal, you really have to tweak your noise gate. I use a rack mounted 2 channel Decimator from ISP and in order to cancel out the feedback, you'll sacrafice some sustain. All in all this is an awesome choice to get that "hotter" sound from your guitar!

  • does this thing also reduce hum?

  • it's not a noise gate. It basically makes your input signal louder so it's louder on the output.

  • I find most pedals on the market today to be poor values and overpriced. However, this Duncan pick-up boost pedal is EXCELLENT. I bought one for $75usd because I was playing single coil pick-ups on a Strat with an underpowered amp in a bar with bass and guitars using bigger amps. Once engaged, I was able to be heard as well as the rest of the players. Thanks Duncan, and thanks for this promo clip! ~ Jonny O

  • That's great! Yeah they do the job quite nice! I just got a new 30 watt combo I might break it out to use with :)

  • nice demo..your strat sounds really fat without the booster and even fatter with booster

  • Good demo dude!

  • Thanks! I ran out of time or I would have added an overdrive section to the video as well.
