  • My favorite commercial was when that guy was ordering food and he said something about "got eggs?!" then he just drove off and hit a little kid on his bike LOL

  • all they have is negative news and inappropiate topics

  • yea cause heaven forbid any gay mindless children find comfort in hearing of happy gay futures. if u play by these rules why not just ban all tv programs?

  • we only watch it during homeroom here.

  • How is the gay marriage approval poll of students in any way relevant. High School students need to be able to form and question opinions about "Hot Button" topics on their own. Just because it differs from your views does not make it good or bad.

I had CH1 in middle school and high school. There are topics that I feel should not be in the middle school setting, but high school kids about to enter the world need to learn how to gather and process information to form rational conclusions.

  • Channel One...a poor excuse for Cable in the Classroom. Their focus is not on news, it is on selling, selling, selling, ads, ads, ads, more ads. It's important for youth to see the news, but these Channel One people aren't even showing the news as much as blatant corporate shilling in the schools.

  • we dont watch it for an hour we watch it for 10 minutes.

  • Oh god thank the lord an adult who shares our pain! We can do something now!

  • we show it our school sooo boring i don't pay attention to it lol

  • what is ur problem with ch1 ???? at my school we are not "forced" to watch it if we want to watch it is on for us to watch. so don' see what the big deal is but i personally have nothing against CH1 because i find somethings interesting. all they are trying to do is inform us students about important news !!! so once again don't see what is so wrong with CH1 !!!!

  • yup same here. its only for like 10 minets. if you dont want to watch it you can do your home work

  • i do homework while its on haha

  • I watched Channel One News while in school, and I had no problem with it. After hearing Jim talk about some issues he has with it, I can see how there are some problems (such as the promotion of movies with questionable content). However, I learned a lot by being "forced" to watch this news station. I think youth NEEDS to be exposed to what's going on in the world, and it is ultimately up to their PARENTS to teach them what is wrong/right--not Channel One. I think it should stick around.

  • channel one stinks. b/c they show slezzy movies and give kids tickets to the show. i personally thinks channel one needs to go.

  • channel 1 is good for students i watch for my self! i will give it a 4 star C1 is good for schools students need 2 learn some of the news at least some of it. so leave it alone.

  • C1N is sooooooooooooo stupid. It's old shoddy news, and we hardly pay attention to it in school. their incentive to the school was televisions and VCRs, but they're just as much pieces of crap as the program is.

Keep up the good work. The news is pretty filtered and one sided. Must be why it's called Channel One. AHAHAHAHAHA! I make a quip.

    ENDING!

  • You had me going, untill you brought in your own beliefs about homosexualism. Because your personal belief differes from that of what the station is trying to convey, you are attacking them. Granted all your other arguments are credible, and this may be too, however there is nothing wrong with exposing gay marrigae to youth, as opposed to the other practaces that CH1 employs. the 49 to 50 ratio is not evidence of CH1's 'brainwashing' but rather the sum of all the influences on american youth

  • I can appreciate your position. My point about the gay marriage stories on Channel One is that this is a very sensitive issue and local schools and their communities should be the ones to decide how this is discusses. At least Channel One should have given schools a "head's up" before broadcasting the stories. Also it makes no sense for the same content to be for 6th graders as seniors. It is hard to argue that age range is able to process information the same.

  • i used to watch channel one news when i was in middle school and i liked it and theres nothing wrong with it

  • i was with you until you said that gay marriage was bad. last i checked the point of a news cast was to get a point across and let children choose for themselves. if my community is overwhelmingly racist, does it make it wrong if i like blacks? just because children now are tolerant unlike your ignorant ass doesnt make CH1 a bad news program.

  • I worked w/ channel one a few years ago & had the privilege of producing 2 stories w/ public schools in Detroit & Cali. So, obviously this man is confused when he makes the incorrect statement that channel one has never been inside a public school to get the news. He is also incorrect in his assumption of their location. Someone that makes such remarks without getting the basic information correct is obviously not a very good source to get information from. There's no puzzle to solve here.

  • I have no idea what "swingdancer" is talking about. C1N regularly films in schools. I never said they didn't. As far as "location" I have no clue as to what this person is referring to. Producing a story for C1 is no big deal. The audience HAS to watch no matter if your story is good or bad. I hope this person's stories were less sloppy than this post.

  • But it's FIFTEEN MINUTES OF NEWS... that's it.

It's news, dude, youre NOT in highschool! you have NO IDEA. please, get a life.

  • Your a loser. Whats your problem with C1? We all make mistakes. You made one just now. LEAVE EM ALONE.

  • Plus, to ban it would be unconstitutional.

  • C1 ROCKS! I rely on it to know what's going on in the world every morning, and the ads haven't brainwashed me yet!

  • we watch channel one every day... it SUCKS! its so pointless and boring! also, theres so many ads trying to get us to buy stuff! channel one sucks!

  • You are 100% correct!

  • get a life

  • I'm in eighth grade and have been forced to watch it every day since sixth grade. it is incredible biased and a waste of money since no one likes it or pays attention. it talks about actual news very little and is mostly about kids volunteering (not that volunteering is bad); fifty percent of the broadcast is incredibly stupid public service announcements ("your mama's so free she has the right to live in america! ohhhh!" gag me).

  • I would rather watch news then commericals or moive previews.Schools have it for news but it mostly is trying to get kids to by products. Ig452 channel one stinks

  • what a loser! when was the last time this idiot was in a high school. He isn't looking through the view of students or the anchors. Channel 1 news has shown me critical NEWS every morning since I was in the 6th grade. Is showing kids information about Iraq bad? Is telling kids the same stuff the today show would bad? NO... I actually, because of channel one news, want to become a broadcast journalist.

  • I hope you don't want to be the type of journalist that uses his or her news reporter position to sell products. Channel One's idea of journalism is bizarre. I have seen their "news anchors" plugging WB TV shows and musical artists CDs. And of course they always help pitch Gatorade. Channel One has very little hard news. Hopefully it is about to go out of business anyhow. obligation org

  • Taking off channel one news isn't the answer. I can agree that they shouldn't plug CW tv shows or music cds but thats only a way to get the audiences attention. They should tweak c1 news to where they show more "actual news".

  • channel one is wrong and its teaching kids wrong things. And I think it stinks

  • I would watch Channel One every day when I was in high school. I only found it to be informative and interesting, not offensice. The polls only expressed the views of the viewers, not of Channel One. The program allowed high school and middle school students to be informed and gave a chance for interaction!

This man needs to do his research and find something important to get out of our corrupt society!

  • Thanks for your comments. The issue is that although you say you liked Channel One, the truth of the matter is you HAD to be shown C1N.

You were an indentured servant to Channel One. Your school sold your attention. Attention has economic value. A contract signed by your school board required you to be shown the program 90% of school days. Most students find that offensive. You should have too.

  • You are in no position to tell what I should and should not have found offensive.

Channel One's purpose is to inform students. Schools find it important for students to be informed about the world around them and important news topics.

  • mlewelly,

If you watched from 9th to 12th grade, C1 cost you four weeks of instructional time.

You shouldn't be upset with me. You should be upset with your school board and principal. Whether you are in a job or in college you are now competing against young people who didn't waste their time watching Lite News, movie commercials, and Plays of the Week. Channel One News is used mainly as an electronic babysitter mainly for middle schools.
