Just downloaded 2.0 to my Playbooks and its a step in the right direction, but still disappointing.
I have only messed with it for about 20 minutes while at work, but where is the Android support? The App World looks the same to me and as of ten minutes ago the top rated app is still Flashlight... At least Print to Go I could see having some value.
I guess I was expecting more. Maybe one day the software will match the capability of the hardware.
I just upgraded my Playbook to OS 2.0 today and seriously, having iPad 2 and iPhone as well, I can say Playbook is the most amazing tablet on the market right now with the OS 2.0
- Full android support
- Predictive text typing with intelligent softkey
- Remote integration with LCD TV
- Full integration of all emails with facebook, linkedin etc.
- Rich text composition
- The best browser on one of the fastest and user friendly operating system
It sounds good, but I haven't had a chance to download it yet. I love my Playbook(s), but I won't use their phones. The new Bold is the only thing decent I have seen, but nothing I'd give up my S2 for.
Even with the original software once it dropped to $199 it was a steal. RIM should have had this out before the Kindle launched with 2.0. Great hardware that people ignored because of practically beta stage software. Ran smooth, but felt unfinished and lacked apps.
who cares about the Email or some other office crap that should of been there by default since it came out..... we want NETFLIX,
the playbook should of had from the start a calender, contacts list, a better Delete Option i don't fill taping one buy one to delete a picture or have to sure the air file browser. a better map, plus its GPS sucks
I have all android tablet (asus), IPAD, and Play book and i swear out of all i love the playbook the best the form factor the size and how smooth it is. rendering website its the best and plays flash any type of flash. And now i can get android apps plus this thing was cheaper than the other two and better hardware. people are really stupid if they don't buy this and instead go for iPad or android( well unless you have a money shitting machine go for android tablet). over all its the best tablet
It took em until 2012 to do email the right way, it's too small for 10 finger typing, it lacks quality applications and flash for mobile is dead according to the developers at Adobe.
.
Want a tablet to get your basic work done? Kindle Fire and Nook get you a lot for the price.
Want a serious tablet? iPad 2 is a beast and will apparently be priced down when ipad 3 is announced.
@h4x0y Pshhh, since when does apple reduce the price on anything? or any retailer? they might go down $20.00 but thats about it. Tablet of choice in MY opinion, Asus Transformer Prime running ICS.
@harley22x well sometimes they do. they've done so with the iPhone a couple of times, especially now with the somewhat older 3GS. They've done so with the macbook air about two years ago, and the priced down (-100$) iPad 2 sold alongside the iPad 3 is still a rumor, but most of those rumors tend to be accurate.
I just purchased my blackberry playbook and waiting for the delivery. The only problem with the blackberry playbook is that they built the focus on business application and the blackberry phone. I own an android phone, so bridge is no use to me. Apple and android are the number phone and tablet operating systems. I will not be leaving my tablet on when I leave home just like I won't leave my computer on when I leave the house. Keep it simple RIM.
Will you be able to get Netflix on the Playbook? Will you be able to get Skype? Will you be able to get Kindle reader or ready Nook books? If I have an IPhone will I be able to use the bridge on the Pllaybook? This update is too little to late. Sorry but the Playbook is dead.
There are tons of apps in app world and the place just keeps getting better and better. For reviews on the latest and greatest apps for the AMAZING playbook head on over to my channel or website
I purchased a Playbook at Staples for $199.00 as an impulse buy. I already own an iPad and must say that I enjoy the 7" size, HDMI compatibility, overall QNX stability of the OS. I am eager for version 2.0. I use with a Bold so looking forward to the remote control. Great stuff

@Juggernaut76 The Android apps are in the app store. You will know it's an Android app because the details for the app will say "by Android."

For the price of $249 from my 32 GB Playbook, nothing comes close to this. NOTHING!! iPad is a joke for $650 for 32 GB.
