5:36 japanese mother evaporizted! Good job! Thats why japan did to her neighbours! japanese sees themselves were superior race than others! Now they know they are no differences!
@pakurangaguy your an idiot, I know that japan did a number on china and trying to take over it and pearl harbor, but using 2 bombs to vaporize 2 of their major cities, people in the surrounding areas also had been exposed to radiation.

We watched this in World Cultures 8 years ago, I still remember it to this day.
@oNitex I agree, in a way. What pakura said is terrible. However, by using the atomic bombs, 1 million U.S. casualties were avoided along with unknown Russian, English, etc. casualties and the near annihilation of the Japanese people. It's unfortunate, but maybe the first would've avoided such a cold war, but imagine now: How many descendants are alive of those who would've been killed? Even today, the Purple Hearts made for the invasion are awarded. War is war, and in the end, NO ONE is safe.
Some people argues the japanese civilians has nothing to do with the artrocities the japanese army was responsible for! I am totally against this and in those films of japan, the Japanese civilians shouting 'MANSEI' (long live) to those boardcasting from Japanese authorities about what they has done!, so all japanese civilians were guilty as well! Good job, the nuclear bombs!
I understand that the United states was pissed about Pearl Harbor, and that the Japanese Empire also did some fucked up shit to China, Australia, Korea, and the Philippines too, but you have to remember it was the Japanese army who committed those crimes against humanity, not everyone who lives in Japan. We only dropped the bombs, because we didn't want to get any of our troopers killed, so they figured "Better you than us". The moment you kill civilians to get revenge, you become the monster.
@viviane5126 Are you kidding? The Japanese Army were brutal to the Filipinos. In Bauan. They rounded up all the men in the village, tied them up in the church and set the church on fire. Only the "miraculous cross" survived the fire. To the Japanese there were no civilians, everyone was a potential combatant. The Bataan death march included civilians as well as soldiers.
and what was the fault of th children there? of course there was war. but dropping atomic bomb is against human's nature. would it be nice if russia would drop 100.000 atomic bombs over usa after "warning" a few times? "we tried to warn them", no sir, your government is the evil itself which every nation in the world hates. every nation is able to produce atomic bombs. but apporximately no one produces. 'cause it's just inhuman and coward. usa, the most honorless nation in da world
thank u very much.america needs people like u or like martin luther king and so on. but people like truman or george w bush should be thrown outta country.all they do is influencing the people by media and win their agreenment to kill and attack other countries for oil and bullshit. think of the founders of USA.what did they swear?they wanted peace and freedom.do u really call this terror freedom?i witnessed attacks by us army to poor innocent children man. this is not a game man!!
@34enes I think what makes it worse is the entire hypocrisy of the government like this...One of our top reasons for hating Hitler and such was that he attacked towns and such rather than keeping it on battlefields. We complain that he killed thousands of innocents in his campaign and yet...And, yet we end the war by killing entire CITIES full of innocents with just two bombs.
We developed a weapon of mass destruction and yet we have the nerve to act all great? No, we are not.
@LaVivaGan I use the word "we" because you DO live off the spoils of what came from this atrocity and seeing as how you are on the computer using the internet you are obviously not completely bad off either. You don't want to be part of the Government? Then stop using the shit they give you and get off the internet. Until you do, you are still contributing to it, so just. Deal. With. It.
@LaVivaGan The point is that I don't like hypocrites and that's what you are being. You are complaining about them and hating and yet you STILL use what they provide for you because you don't want to be inconvienced.
It's one thing to hate something they did and another to just plain hate them, but refusing to do ANYTHING about it in anyway. You are basically WHINING and I HATE whiners.
@bakkahentai2600 On the contrary, you're saying that I should channel my hate by discarding all my worldly possesions, to the extent of not even drinking water (Yeah, they regulate that.)
And whining? Really dude? You're telling my to be some kind of radical now? The only way to change what I hate would be me causing violence and disruption in society myself. THAT would make me a hypocrite. (Hold on I'm running out of letters)
@bakkahentai2600 So I'll tell you what I'll do. I'll sit here on my PC, watch youtube videos, wait for some radical to change things himself, or wait for the government to generally fail, and take advantage of such an event.
Just because I'm not the person to set the train in motion doesn't mean I won't be the one to keep it moving.
Finally, I didn't go up to washington and suck Obama's dick to get my laptop. I went to Best Buy and bought it for $499, and it was made in Japan. Nice try.
I saw this broadcast on Television one evening in August of 1979 when I was in Japan on the anniversary of the attack, so it was made prior to 1979. I was 12 years old, and it made quite an impression on me about the destructive power of atomic weaponry. While a necessary action in 1945, this certainly works to underscore the importance of diplomacy and communication prior to allowing a situation to develop requiring extreme action. We should show this to more kids, so they understand.
@qwuezalothus What's the take away from the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Don't mess with the USA. We weren't trying to fight Japan, just slow down their rape of China when we embargoed their oil, steel and coal. Instead of stopping their genocide of Eastern China, Korea and Manchuria, they attacked us for reminding them such action is anti-human. Well, they sowed the wind and reaped the whirlwind. Remember. Don't fuck with America.
It made me cry sooo much when it showed the little boy's skeleton laying on the ground who just moments before was having fun playing and making paper airplanes. Dx
saw this once years ago on either its 40 or 45th anniversary of the atomic bomb dropping on Hiroshima. I could remember parts of it, and wondered why they didn't show it again. As for Youtube, well...
"As an American, I was always felt somewhat guilty about the atomic attacks on Japan."
As a human being, i always feel guilty about war in general.I mean, what kind of creature sacrifices its own children to settle their disputes? It is just sad how we have to kill and maim each other for the stupidest reasons.I just want to live my life with my family and friends in peace. I would fight to protect myself and someone else from harm. War is hell, and sooner or later we may set of the big one.
@35puppetmaster Yea but you should realize that hiroshima was full of japs soldiers. Japan was an ally to the third reich germany and japs started the war against the americans without declare of war! i dont deny that atomic bomb was a very brutal decision, but america wanted to end the fucking war and their only chance was show to the japs that you are fucking with frong country

I am from finland We have to fight soviets alone. And we even won! Hitler, Stalin and the japan emperor were bad.
@425jeonsa Although I can understand WHY the USA would do this, I still don't think it's completely justified.
It's not really like the Japanese civilians had a say in what the powers within their country chose to do, and I'm certain the majority of the population didn't even want to be trained with weapons. Many genuinely innocent people died, even months after the bomb was dropped.
What is the name of this video? It looks like it came out in the 30's or 40's which is technically impossible...well late 40's at the earliest.
I do see the similarities with Barefoot Gen too but I would say that this came out first. From what I heard, Barefoot Gen and Grave of the Fireflies were the first (animated?) depictions of the horrors Japan suffered. Most Japanese did not want to SEE this kinda thing until 30 years after it passed...I could be wrong though
@stargoboom1986 omg yeah i was thinking that too thise is like Barefoot Gen with the sister getting ready for school the little brother running around playing and Gen daydreaming somewhere eather in the back yard or on the porch
As an American, I was always felt somewhat guilty about the atomic attacks on Japan. I now live in China near the site of the Nanjing Massacre AKA "The Rape of Nanking". After going through the museum site, I did not feel so guilty any more.......
war never changes does it.. you kill me i kill you in the end no one really won just dead people lie on the ground and the hearts of other people that knew those people are broken and i do agree that they attacked us first, still we shouldnt've bombed inniocnet people the army men mayve been innocent back then as well idk but wht ever happend , happend
Of course not. Honestly, the use of the atomic bomb was all around unnecessary. The Japanese were technically already defeated and ready to surrender. When Eisenhower made the decision to allow the use of the atomic bomb, he basically declared war on innocent people because of the actions of their government. In a way, it's almost like total war.
What we did was necessary. Trust me, considering Japans prideful and warrior honoring mentality they would not except a defeat unless something drastic happened. They would have continued to fight and kill millions. However, hiroshima wasnt even the intial bombing target. They were going to bomb japans largest and wealthiest capital, but america did not want to destroy any future possible relations with Japan. If we had bombed their capital, they would NEVER have gotten over it.
@qwertasdcfghjklmo24z Strange that the Yanks avoided bombing the Imperial Palace where the Emperor and royal family lived - Maybe they leave them well alone for a reason - Japan only have to surrender if the emperor order them to do so and the Yanks know that.
Sad that a lot of people had died in the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombing but we Allies had no choice but to bomb them in order to force them to surrender otherwise more would die in invasion of Japan.
hahaha thats realy funny you know thats not what happens to a person after a nuclear bomb explosion lol they realy fooled you guys anyways they had it coming they shouldnt have attacked us and they were realy pissing of the chinese serves them right
So... very terrible short movie. I never watching this earlier. But only "Hadashi no Gen' (Barefoot Gen).
Last year I decide to compose and record a music album devote to all Hiroshima, Nagasaki` victims and to all victims of nuclear radiation in the world (Chernobyl, etc. ).
They had surrendered before we dropped these bombs. They were just to scare Russia and China. To pay back Japan. And to show America was the boss. Blood on England's hands too. Germany had already surrendered. No need for Churchill to support this horror.
@supablasta300 on January 20, 1945 President Roosevelt received a 40-page memorandum outlining five separate surrender overtures from high-level Japanese officials. This memo showed that the Japanese were offering surrender terms virtually identical to the ones ultimately accepted by the Americans at the formal surrender ceremony on September 2. Japan had already offered everything that was gained after the bomb. It was unnecessary but highly impressive terrorism on our part.
@NickinFilm in case you did not knowur saying things I already know only I stand firm we wanted UNCONDITIONAL surrender. the japanese knew it we even gave them a THREE DAY WARNING. unlike the japanese who gave us thirty minute warning before pearl harbour that wasnt even a dec. of war. I do NOT like forcing my views on people, but the only reasonable opinion. is the middle ground. that the A-bomb was a very teribble weapon, that should never be used again, but it WAS necssesary. nuf said.
@supablasta300 Why was "unconditional" so important that it was worth the lives of the American servicemen who died rather than agree to negotiate in June when Japan was trying to open a dialogue?
I think we needed to weaken the Japanese military more than they were in January, but by early June they were mostly concerned with maintaining the safety of the Emperor and the territorial integrity of the home islands. We could have finished the war by late June by allowing negotiations.
@Hikikomori013 Japans negotiations terms would have sparked ww3 keep there military, no occupation, and militaryism. Woul d we really be as stupid as to agree to the terms of a nation that attacked china and the Us without warnig, wer willing to become suicide bombers, the remnance of the axis? They would never forgive the west, and the facts are there. more American AND japanese lives would be lost. civilian, govt soldiers.
To ask is not to receive. They would naturally ask for more than they thought they could get so they could settle on the strongest possible terms. They had already put out feelers to get us to negotiate, asking only g=for the integrity of the home islands and the safety of the emperor.
Would you like to see the public archives of the CIA?
Imagine how many American lives could have been saved if we had negotiated in June.
@NickinFilm Your facts are wrong and there's no shred of evidence to support it. Yes, that claim is circulated by a large number of angry people, but that a lie repeated is not truth. Please show us a link to those documents (with the dates) in either the official archive of the US or Japan! Wikipedia isn't a perfect source by any stretch, but if you are sincere about knowing the truth, go there and search for "Surrender of Japan". If you don't care about the truth - keep your anger.
@supablasta300 Japan surrendered August 10, according to the diary of Henry Stimson. We agreed to their conditions and accepted their surrender on August 15.
I haven't seen the 40 page memorandum documented, but according to the presidential briefings of 1945 in the public archives of the CIA they wer trying to open negotiations as early as January. By May they had offered to agree to the terms we accepted in August.
Russia attacked August 9th, forcing Japan to accept unconditional surrender.
No, Japan was trying to negotiate surrender. They accepted unconditional surrender on August 10, sending messages through the Swiss and Swedish embassies, requesting the security of the Emperor. The French papers published the news on the same day. We continued bombing while we negotiated the conditions of the unconditional surrender, then accepted the surrender on the 15th.
@Hikikomori013 That's wrong. It wasn't until after Nagasaki that the emperor decided it was time to surrender. Though, a lot of his military staff urged him to surrender after Hiroshima, the Emperor denied it because he thought the Americans didn't have more of the Nukes. Before Hiroshima, Japan was still in the fight and prepared to take millions of American lives in the invasion.
@Kurtai123 It was after the Soviets invaded Manchuria. If we hadn't dropped the bomb Japan could not have held out after that for fear that the Soviets would take Hokkaido and probably Honshu. Japan would have been split and it's existence as a nation imperiled. Their only hope of survival as a country was to abandon attempts to negotiate and take their chances with the Americans.
this isn't about who was right or who was wrong morally. although america certainty had the justification to use such a bomb against japan and its "no surrender policy." its about the innocent civilians who get caught up in wars like this. america is not to blame for using a horrible weapon to end a horrible war against an enemy who would have done anything to win. but japan still deserves pity.

@bramblelf Fucking japs went into china and started the rape of nanking a forgoton holocause they joined in late with world war 1 to gain land on the winning side and joind the axis side with the nazis in ww2 retard
this is right up there w/the greatest atrocities against HUmanity that the psychotic evil f***** killuminazis have committed...!!!! I Am so sorry for what they did to you & your loved ones, Japan. You r far from being the only one's they have committed horrors upon. They are doing this even to their own...to all ppl. the Killuminazi's need to be annihilated.....to be extinct & wiped from this planet & its history FOR ALL ETERNITY!!!
@howiseethings Actually I think the same can be said for every country across the planet. Americans used propaganda to portray themselves as horrendous victims of 9/11 in the same way as the Japanese did with this cartoon, and it wouldn't surprise me if any country around the world would use such propaganda for any horrific event that would happen to them. We shouldn't have debates over who is more innocent, who are the victims and who are the enemies. All of us are prone to being evil and good.
That must've been horrible being in such a time. I feel a bit sorry for those people during that time. I've seen" Barefooted Gen" and a few nights after I've seen it I started having nightmares of the victims of the bombing coming into my family's house. I know America had to do it in order to stop Japan, but sometimes, I feel as though this bomb has really crossed the line for many years to come.
First, the civilians of Hiroshima did not turn into half melted walking goop, more....nothing (warning over exaderation) The Atomic bomb did not melt them, nor incenerated them. You know how your science teacher tells you matter could not be destroied? The atomic bomb EVAPORATED their atomic structure right down the last subatomic partical of that proton in the human cell (warning over exaderation)
@rancper Are you saying that you are supporting terrorist atacks against the US and the other nations in the coalition of the willing? Or is that something different because we believe we are fighting for ultimate justice? Like so manny other nations!
@DinosGoRAWRandGRR So a heavily biased cartoon which is supposed to expose the horrors of atomic weapons is completely unrealistic? Oh and I'm sure the citizens of Hiroshima weren't preparing for an invasion or anything..oh wait they were, and this heavily biased cartoon just chose to omit that part too.
Uncomfortable viewing. An awful time in history. Lets not bicker about this video. The message is strong - this must never happen again - so so so the antethisis of today.
Bless the uploader. Ignore the more useless and negative comments about who was right and who was wrong. The issue here is we must all pull together - all faiths, cultures, races and live together. Or face the consequences and as this film so graphically shows - cannot even contemplate it!
@MovieMad007 You've got to be kidding...expecting all of humankind to join hands and sing Kumbaya is just idiotic at best. The 20th century was the bloodiest in history, and you still think world peace is possible? Even now, it'll be impossible, as world conflicts are still continuing.. Oh, and the numbers of gang members are rising. Also, there are different perspectives of peace.
Never in human history has there been world peace. Humans are by nature just too aggressive.
@MovieMad007 Agree. Finaly a coment that is not blaming this video for being Japanese propaganda.
Unfortunaltey a lot of comenters here sems to follow a wiered and uncorect logic that the japanese was fully aware of every war autrocity comitted by their regime and therefore deserved to die. Like as if every single one of them knew of and had approved for unit 731.
@Sohave A-Bomb an awful and horrific weapon. Man and Mathematics has achieved so much in life. But ultimately you put a few mathematicians together and you can get disaster. Look at the financial crisis. It started when a few mathematicians and Physics experts went to Lehmans and left on a brokers desk a mathematical model that would net millions by lending to borrowers and hedging bets that they would not default on the payments! But it went oh so wrong! Beautifully drawn unlike CGI of today!
@MovieMad007 i hate that people are like yeah lets nuke them. if they acutally experience what one does when it explodes they would never say this. emagine you are walking down the street suddenly you go behind a building ready to exit building a huge light vaporizes everyone in the streets but you are still alive
war, war never changes, you know the whole war was a bunch of BS it was all fought because of Hitlers nazi regime, he made japan their ally and the emporer was told that he would get a better japan if he followed Hitler, so he was told to attack the US. all in all the whole war was almost destroyed because of one man. and to think he could have been a painter.
@SiniorFruitbat i know right? freaking idiot could have been a painter but he aimed for Ruler and more territory making the jewish people scapegoats of germans having no jobs because of them. what an ass fuck.
@Bajedu That would depend on your location with regard to ground zero. Take for instance the well known stories of the grass boys or the ant people the came out of hiroshima. There were also stories of people being taken by the fire worms, tornadoes of fire that lingered for hours after the bomb ignited. Almost sounds like science fiction..
What better choice did Truman have? Compromise peace? J militarists retain power, plot Pacific War 2
Invade? 240,000 died on Okinawa. Kyushu's garrison as >x7 larger. DO THE MATH
Blockade? How many MILLION j civilians would've starved (along w/100,000 Allied POWs & 100,000 civilian internees) before the god/man hirohito would've given the order to surrender?
Yes. Unlike our god/man imperialistic bastards. It was a battle of empires, nothing more. We won, they lost. Nothing more noble, nothing less righteous.
@pjmyou Empire? As of 7/4/46 the US got of the colony business, when we granted the Philippines their independence.
When MacArthur got to Japan 8/45 he found it on the brink of famine. He cabled DC "send me food or send me bullets" US grain shipments prevented mass starvation. I think that action was quite noble of MacArthur.
@kentamitchell Yes, of course the two bombs saved countless lives on both sides. The bomb was an instrument that saved lives, no doubt about it, Since Marshall and Truman had ruled out an invasion, 7 bombs were ready on Nov.1. These bombs were to be dropped simultaneously on kyushu. Unthinkable destruction, and the 2 bombs that were dropped eventually saved everyone on kyushu...
@COLDMAONTIN Japan was training the women and children to fight in the case of an invasion by the US. Children would've died either way, it's more a matter of how many. Plus, dropping two atomic bombs undoubtedly saved countless lives on both sides. Japan started the war, and the US finished it.
Had Japan surrendered after Truman's ultimatum, the dropping of atomic bombs would never have happened, but they just had to be stubborn. Can't blame the US for doing the right and necessary thing.
All politics aside, this is the outcome of war.

Fuck Governments. I ain't a part of that shit. If it were possible I would live off on some remote island.

LaVivaGan 4 months ago
@LaVivaGan I use the word "we" because you DO live off the spoils of what came from this atrocity and seeing as how you are on the computer using the internet you are obviously not completely bad off either. You don't want to be part of the Government? Then stop using the shit they give you and get off the internet. Until you do, you are still contributing to it, so just. Deal. With. It.
bakkahentai2600 4 months ago
@bakkahentai2600 Hey, just cause I don't like them doesn't mean I'm going to go out of my way to make a point to only myself.
And why defend them? The Government doesn't pay when you suck their dick dude...
LaVivaGan 4 months ago
@LaVivaGan The point is that I don't like hypocrites and that's what you are being. You are complaining about them and hating and yet you STILL use what they provide for you because you don't want to be inconvienced.
It's one thing to hate something they did and another to just plain hate them, but refusing to do ANYTHING about it in anyway. You are basically WHINING and I HATE whiners.
bakkahentai2600 4 months ago
@bakkahentai2600 On the contrary, you're saying that I should channel my hate by discarding all my worldly possesions, to the extent of not even drinking water (Yeah, they regulate that.)
And whining? Really dude? You're telling my to be some kind of radical now? The only way to change what I hate would be me causing violence and disruption in society myself. THAT would make me a hypocrite. (Hold on I'm running out of letters)
LaVivaGan 4 months ago

And the c word really wasn't necessary.

I do see the similarities with Barefoot Gen too but I would say that this came out first. @fromstart2finish:
Of course not. Honestly, the use of the atomic bomb was all around unnecessary. The Japanese were technically already defeated and ready to surrender. When Eisenhower made the decision to allow the use of the atomic bomb, he basically declared war on innocent people because of the actions of their government. In a way, it's almost like total war.
Arienhn 9 months ago
@Arienhn
If we had bombed their capital, they would NEVER have gotten over it.

supablasta300 11 months ago
@supablasta300 on January 20, 1945 President Roosevelt received a 40-page memorandum outlining five separate surrender overtures from high-level Japanese officials. This memo showed that the Japanese were offering surrender terms virtually identical to the ones ultimately accepted by the Americans at the formal surrender ceremony on September 2. Japan had already offered everything that was gained after the bomb. It was unnecessary but highly impressive terrorism on our part.
NickinFilm 11 months ago

Hikikomori013 10 months ago
@Hikikomori013 Japans negotiations terms would have sparked ww3 keep there military, no occupation, and militaryism. Woul d we really be as stupid as to agree to the terms of a nation that attacked china and the Us without warnig, wer willing to become suicide bombers, the remnance of the axis? They would never forgive the west, and the facts are there. more American AND japanese lives would be lost. civilian, govt soldiers.
supablasta300 10 months ago
@supablasta300
Hikikomori013 10 months ago
@NickinFilm Your facts are wrong and there's no shred of evidence to support it. Yes, that claim is circulated by a large number of angry people, but that a lie repeated is not truth. Please show us a link to those documents (with the dates) in either the official archive of the US or Japan! Wikipedia isn't a perfect source by any stretch, but if you are sincere about knowing the truth, go there and search for "Surrender of Japan". If you don't care about the truth - keep your anger.

Hikikomori013 10 months ago
@supablasta300 Japan surrendered August 10, according to the diary of Henry Stimson. We agreed to their conditions and accepted their surrender on August 15.
I haven't seen the 40 page memorandum documented, but according to the presidential briefings of 1945 in the public archives of the CIA they wer trying to open negotiations as early as January. By May they had offered to agree to the terms we accepted in August.
Russia attacked August 9th, forcing Japan to accept unconditional surrender.
Hikikomori013 9 months ago
@NickinFilm
Hikikomori013 10 months ago
@Hikikomori013 That's wrong. It wasn't until after Nagasaki that the emperor decided it was time to surrender. Though, a lot of his military staff urged him to surrender after Hiroshima, the Emperor denied it because he thought the Americans didn't have more of the Nukes. Before Hiroshima, Japan was still in the fight and prepared to take millions of American lives in the invasion.
Kurtai123 9 months ago
@Kurtai123 It was after the Soviets invaded Manchuria. If we hadn't dropped the bomb Japan could not have held out after that for fear that the Soviets would take Hokkaido and probably Honshu. Japan would have been split and it's existence as a nation imperiled. Their only hope of survival as a country was to abandon attempts to negotiate and take their chances with the Americans.
Hikikomori013 9 months ago
I'll bet they were sorry they attacked the US.
And the Philippines.
And China. And Singapore. And Guam.
We finished a war THEY started. In fact, even AFTER Hiroshima and Nagasaki Japanese hardliners refused to surrender.
They were willing to fight to the last Japanese civilian. So save your outrage for the Japanese militants who made this necessary.
