Torte reform first! The victims in our system are the healthcare providers. We send our children to Law school instead of Med school. What other profession can they become so rich so fast for so little work? This is the only thing that will increase quality and availability of health services. The first thing tackle is where punitive damages go. Right now it goes to the lawyer and injured party. This is money neither has earned or deserves. This is money better spent on the uninsured.
@ctpolitics2008 Well you're totally off base here's why. All hospitals set aside money for legal defense funds, most have it in their by-laws to be necessary. Assume for a second that we lived in a perfect world ..or a perfectly terrible world where every medical professional was immune to litigation whether by legislation or because people just ..i dont know learned to forgive. Then that money would be spent on dozens of other things from medicine to paving. The dispersant effect would make
everything service only marginally cheaper and only if the board agreed to reductions in fees which are only assessed semi annually. The whole tort reform thing rests on a ton of unsupportable assumptions.
Haha! For more information, check out GOP.com! Great...
