The man is a LEGEND. I met him once in London and I was really taken by his humility. He came over where we were and with no attitude or ignorant, said hi to us and smiled all thru as he spoke. He is one of a kind. Am saying this as a Kenyan.

@bikila489 abebe bikila grew up with no shoes so he was more comfortable going shoeless. Haile grew up without shoes too but once he found success with his adidas shoes he wasn't going back to running shoeless like he did as a child. i'm pretty sure 9 out of 10 running greats would pick shoes over no shoes, bikila obviously is the 1 who wouldn't

He was running everyday 20km. Adiss Ababa is altitude 2400m so the weathe is difficult and he was only teenager.

and i respect that he's able to stick to his extremely carefully prepared diet. he really looks like a guy who never ever indulges. never a quarter pounder or dominoes pizza. just fish, rice, grains, fruits, veges, and water. liters and liters of it on any given day.

@freighter014 more like extremely fit. His body doesn't allow him to gain too much body fat, because he would burn it off really fast, due to all the miles he runs.
