Border Collie Dog Sledding

Do you use ur border collies to "chase" the sheeps? i'm not gonna raise my dog to be a in a farm and chase sheeps. :o i wanna learn it tricks and such and walk long distances everyday with it.

When they are just running and not pulling anything, they could go FOREVER! I take my 3 year old border collie running next to me on my bike for 8 miles at a time and when we are done, she rests for about 30 minutes then she's back up running circles around us again. They never get tired!

Border collies are the best - first time I have seen any sledding. The half white and half black face one looks so intent on the start line. They all obviously love the job. Thanks for sharing.

They did amazing for the first hitch together! We use ours for a lap dog... He grew up in the house and is more fond of farming than ranching because his lazy butt doesn't like to work. He's a great companion, though. Border Collies forever! :)

Yah...great video and great sled dog action. Border Collies are great, but you have not lived until you tried Cairn Terrier Dog Sledding. For ha-ha's we hooked our Cairns up to a makeshift sled and took them out to an old rail-trail. They loved to run and proved it! Took me 3 miles to get them to stop!!! :)

it seems not. Last year at the Purina Dog show on Thanksgiving, they won every competition that they entered, except one. I think it was jumping, but I could be wrong. I know they won over labs in the jumping/fetching from water category! :)

what a riot... love these dogs.. my three year old Mac is a larger variety bred for cattle. he is huge.. 70 lbs.  I am a disabled veteran of a marine infantry unit from the vietnam era. My border collie is my service dog.. the best most loving pooch I have ever had. I take him to nursing homes and veteran hospitals... he is a gift from the almighty..

I have an australian shepherd/ border collie x who LOVES snow. One time we hooked her up to a toddler sled I was sitting in, just to see what she would do, and the insane dog started trying to pull me, haha. So my dad helped her and the two of them pulled me home.

I used to prefer to have an odd number of dogs to have only one lead dog,but I tried matching one with stamina with one with brains and drive, escpecially in the lead and wheel positions. My swing dogs just keep pulling.

Hey, I have heard that Border Collies do not have the skeleton for dragging. Thats why you have the Husky and Malamut. Be careful with them.
