How far can you go on a TANK of fuel? What does that have to do with anything? In the next test, you should drive entirely within a city and measure MPG and $/gallon, including the additional cost of diesel. The Prius would win by a factor of two.
This video is the kind of dishonesty I've experienced at most VW dealers.
Hybrids were made for the american market. A new diesel returns better fuel economy, less maintenance, no batteries, less energy used to build and with the proper engine break in (not the one stated by the factory) your car could flip the odometer.
Yes you are very correct. The tragedy is that people don't know any better and fail to do adequate research before buying!
Hybrids don't make sense. If you look at your total cost of ownership, a hybrid is worse. If you are a "green" person I get hybrids, until you have to dispose of some nasty NiMH batteries!
The general public is filled with morons! Look at where are country is right now for Cripes sake!
you posted a minimum of 20 replys about how the tdi sucks and toyota is the best and then you write "Toyota and their fans could careless about VW." ?
The PRIUS has a HAZMAT battery replacement that costs about 7-8 GRAND !! Plus the PRIUS is built like a tin can with a engine that sounds like it's out of a Hoover Vacuum cleaner !! **The Jetta TDI is a real car that a family can use, is fun to drive and gets EXCELLENT fuel MPG's !!
I really can't see an advantage a prius could have.....jetta makes twice the toque, better mpg EVERYWHERE not just city....much more upscale, FARR better looking, better driving, less expensive unproven part content, shall I go on? Tho if I had to go with a hybrid, it would be the new Insight or a Fusion.

come on, TDI use diesel, which produce more power per gallons of gas. that just mean for the same tanks, TDI store more energy than prius. this comparison is not fair at all
Jetta is way better. I love mine, and I don't have to worry about the $7000 battery with an 8 year service life that must be disposed of as hazardous waste.
Your an Idiot. Our "Standard" '03 Jetta gets 54mpg highway. Oh it has over 200,000 miles on it and all we do is change the oil every 10,000 miles. NEVER Been in the shop.
gas is cheaper and easier to find. TDI adds premium pricing the same as hybrid technology. The pay off is that TDI lasts much longer and you don't need to replace the massive battery. Emissions is still high though
Pass Cali standards, and they will go the same 0-60 wether they have one passenger or five. Also in the US, we get a $1300 annual tax rebate for driving green with this car.

When I say total, I'm talking about every VW that they sell, not just the Jetta.
Jetta's are nice, but It's painfully clear why VW and their owners HATE the Prius, while Toyota and their fans could careless about VW.

SORRY YOU ARE WRONG!
My 2006 TDI gets 55mpg average and on cruise doing 65mph I get an honest 72mpg!
Plus my brakes work just fine... how are those Prius brakes working? Toyota is in some sh*t right now because of their shady ways!

Not only does the tdi get better gas milage, the oil takes less refining.

Better gas mileage and prodigious torque? More Americans should drive diesels I'm telling you!

has any one mentioned the tank size difference in the jetta and the prius? Prius 10 jetta 14
Failadin 3 years ago 3
yeah true, but in every highway challenge I've seen the Jetta still gets better MPG.
Plus it's also about the convenience of never having to stop and fill up.
A big selling factor with some of mercedes' diesels was that they had 25g tanks.

comparing diesel with gasoline? Of corse highway circuit is better for diesel. This test don´t have reliability
thiago497150 3 years ago
Reliability? Are you for real? I'd take a simple no spark plug diesel over a gas powered, electric, battery operated, computer any day.
