I have recently joined US National Guard but not for this so called 'glory' of killing an enemy of the US, but for the Honor of being a part of something that is striving to make a difference in this world. Citizens who sit at home complaining about work, the government, bills don't realize that they're doing nothing to help. There is more to helping this country than voting. I'm proud to be a part of something worthwhile. I am an American Soldier. I make a difference. I am proud of it. Hooah!
On the upshot, you get to pick up skills civilians never know...many skills. You get to experience reality a civilian never knows. Right? Protected Americans get wasted by cars to the tune of 40,000 a year, for example.

While I don't disagree that a soldier's job is hard, most soldiers choose to be a soldier. Therefore, they must to some extent enjoy what they do. Secondly, I wonder how we can feel this way about the soldiers becuz of the hardships they endure while in active duty and the stark contrast to normal life, but at the same time hold homeless people in such contempt? Is it becuz soldiers do something for us and homeless people are just leeches? Becuz really, we r leeching off our soldiers' deaths.
