I support Rand Paul and his dad. I contributed a few hundred each to their campaigns. That being said, I think Rand could have been a little better prepared with some programs he would cut. He should know that the liberals are going to ask him those kinds of things to try to trip him up. He should have answers for them.

His son,however,in his first political run has gotten a senate seat & is a leader the congressional tea party caucus.

I agree that trying to bring up Rand Paul's income was inappropriate but Mr. Spitzer did have a point. Senator Paul was only talking about spending cuts in the abstract, he was unwilling to get into specifics. He should have said something like: "It would be irresponsible of me to commit to specific cuts before going through the budget but if a balanced budget means cutting popular programs like Medicare, Social Security or Defense I will make those cuts."

I mean I dont know. I love Ron, but Rand really did just avoid the interviewers attempt to point out the biggest programs (that will obviously have to be cut to balance the budget). He was rude, did typical politician shit like interrupting constantly and refusing to let the interviewer respond. Spitzer has no place on broadcasting. Of course Rand Paul isn't going to specify which individual cuts he is going to make. He's not even in Washington yet! I'm so glad he said that Spitzers personal agenda is getting in the way of him being a good brodcaster. Just like his dad, not afraid to speak the truth to nasty people.

I agree that trying to bring up Rand Paul's income was inappropriate but Mr. Spitzer did have a point. Senator Paul was only talking about spending cuts in the abstract, he was unwilling to get into specifics. He should have said something like: "It would be irresponsible of me to commit to specific cuts before going through the budget but if a balanced budget means cutting popular programs like Medicare, Social Security or Defense I will make those cuts."

Why is Spitzer even on TV? I hate these interviewers whose only goal is to trip up the interviewee. Paul wasn't going to play Spitzer's fool, but Spitzer kept hammering away at one, inconsequential question.
And what does it matter how much Paul makes? I don't blame him for bringing it back on Spitzer's past. Spitzer was the one who went into it first.

@mac423 Yea, but it's more than that. Even though a certain amount of ideology IS shoveled down the line at the news organizations, a lot of it really does come from these individuals themselves and their views. Not everything is dictated at these places. I'm blaming Spitzer on this, though CNN gets plenty of blame elsewhere.

@Clyaton your right, the talking heads are allowed to interject a certain amount of their own personal belief system. But, they get the job in the first place by being talking puppets towards their employers greater agenda. I blame the people that believe their drivel. Those that do not do their own research, because they think they can believe what media shovels into their homes. Some things should be taken with a grain of salt, but national media should be taken with a whole truck load.

@viniciusb Cuts in Medicare and Medicaid are just one part of a massive spending reduction that must take place to prevent our country from bankruptcy. Our economy is currently based on borrowing and spending money we don't have. We're consuming and we're not producing. It's one big artificial bubble and it's totally unsustainable. We need to scale back government and cut taxes to allow small businesses to create jobs if we want an increase in production, and, therefore, a restored economy.

T Party is held out as grassroots. Yet, the candidates are spared the vetting process. Paul says "cuts across the board". Moderator presses him on specifics. Especially high dollar budget items. This is relevant, yet here we have cheerleaders saying "Paul kicked his ass". Tea Party fools.
