The thing about the Beatles is that they were a revolutionary band and the first. I guess that was good for their time but who says they can't be surpassed? Thrice has explored many different genres and their lyrical depth can be quite unfathomable to some. Thrice is up there imo

From what Ive heard on these clips the earth stuff reminds me of Led Zeppelin's acoustic stuff. Stuff like Battle of Evermore and Ramble On. Yet come all you weary is more blues oriented, this stuff looks really interesting.

They are Thrice and I'd rather leave it up to them to express what their philosophy/world-view is. Personally I like the Christian undertones. Most of their songs are unique and have that extra something that keeps me coming back for more. My opinion is that the depth of lyrics has somewhat increased drastically since the early days of Thrice. I still cringe every time I hear the "hydrogen/exposure to radon" lines in Silhouette, but it's a great song regardless of my bitching.

in response to furiousmat i respect your opinion, but you dont know what your talking about. this band has not converted lyrics to a christian form at all, the alchemy index stands for basically formulating an "elixir of life", hence it being based around fire, water etc. so you should look a little deeper and see the true artistry they have. also read into the lyrics, the metaphors etc. are amazing

Yah Vheissu did change a lot of the traditional rock feel with guitar riffs like at end of abolotion of man, but I really love the new stuff. I appreciate the christian lyrics (I'm not christian btw) but also like how other songs don't relate to religion at all and just show dustins amazing lyrical ability. On a side note, people saying thrice is a "Christian Band" are ignorant.

Awesome. If their new stuff is half as good as Vheissu, I'll be listening to it every day for a month after it comes out. The thing about these guys is that they always do something slightly if not totally different, and they get better as they go along.

People who think TAITA was Thrice personified need to have their heads checked out. That album was DECENT, but one can't expect miracles when a record label is pressuring you to write and record an album in three months.

However, I can say that metal is losing it's integrity and it's up to bands to always be creative and progressive and not cilche and generic, but there still is integrity left in metal.

well, those bands i can tell the difference between. but the metal bands that are tagging themselves as "hardcore" to me, all sound the same. and its not just metal that is losing its integrity, its all music in general. i should have been more clear when i said "all" metal sounds the same. there are metal bands out there that are pushing the envelope and making great music.

What a badass band!!! Did anyone notice the symbol was the squaring the circle symbol. This is the symbol Alchemists used for the philosophers stone. If you do research, you will see that it represents God and our relationship with him by purifing ourselves. Look into that symbol more dudes. crazy stuff. THRICE IS THE GREATEST BAND ALIVE!!!
