@Ramjet387 thats exactly what youre supposed to do in sparring. The angle of the 45 degree kick makes it faster and allows you to kick under the arms of your opponent. Luck had nothing to do with the knockout, it was a nicely placed kick to his opponents head and his opponent looked down straight into the kick.

Not saying that turning your hip 90 degrees is incorrect for sparring, but its definitely slower and takes more energy than the quick 45 degree kick. Either way you kick, both easily have the power to knock someone out. Youre welcome to speculate that it was luck, but ill still stick to thinking it was a well placed kick and a nice knockout
