'obama wants to tax and spend', 'obama hates space'... is there no right answer? 60 years passed between Lewis and Clark's expedition and the Intercontinental Railroad completion. We are in the same transitional phase now. Our ideas about space travel and exploration need to change.
It's sad that the Obama Admin is going to end the program after the 4th launch. Only 4 more, and the USA who used to lead the world in Space exploration is now reduced to having to hitch a ride with Russia. That's what employees and astronauts told me last week when I was visiting to see the last night time shuttle launch.
@hootyhaha I guess you'll believe anything you're told, huh? I think you missed the part that said there will be a RE-EVALUATION of the space program. Including the development of a new shuttle. The space program, as we know it (old, out of date, DANGEROUS shuttles) is over. We will be "hitching rides" until a new shuttle is developed.
shuttle ISN'T dangerous, flying since 1982 and only 2 destroyed, there have been a lot more accidents in civil aviation which are due to mechanical and structural failure. Swissair 111, TWA800 and thats in the same time frame.
flying into space is what is dangerous, nasa does everything possible to minimize the danger, as does the Russian agency, but as long as man is going into space, there will be accidents and people will die but we will continue
@hootyhaha There is NO reason to think that America STILL isn't the leader of the world's space programs. America is one of only 3 countries to have ever achieved manned space flight. Calm down.
@hootyhaha Actually they are going to be using a private American company to put send their shit to the station. Sounds like you got some bad information. That or you are lying. Because the private enterprise option was announced on Feb. 1, 2010.
@kokobaboko Nope. That wasn't the case. I was there. I talked with the people. So looks like you should not accuse people of being liars. It might direct negativity back towards you. I talked to many astronauts (retired) as I already stated, and employees at KSC. The information you're speaking of might be the case now, but it wasn't then and they were all worried about where they would go. And, if you watch the news you'd see there's still concern just 2 weeks ago as of Memorial day.
@hootyhaha Maybe when somebody tells you the information you provided is in error you should use google and confirm or discount the new information. Type, "nasa to use private american company for launches" in your search engine and hit return. The a new browser window will open and it will have other web pages that refer to the subject you searched. The more relevant the article usually it is closer to the top of the list. Just so you know "news" outlets want views,so they play up BS to get it.
@kokobaboko Just so you know, since you continue to ignore me, I didn't get my information from News outlets. I got it directly from NASA and astronauts back in Feb. 2010. That was then. If things have changed keep in mind that there is such a thing as time spans and changes of mind. Just in case you weren't aware of such things. You also should pay attention to the original month I left my comment.
@hootyhaha What makes you think I wasn't aware of anything you attempted to point out? So you take hearsay over cited sources, that explains it all. Go back to, "the niggra killed the space program" rhetoric. I'll leave you to your delusions.
@kokobaboko You keep ignoring the sources I got my information from. You're trying to imply that what I'm saying is just fluff. You go on to say that the MEDIA is the true source of information. Would you please pay attention. I got my information from the direct sources at NASA. I'll trust them before I trust CBS or CNN.
@hootyhaha Hearsay isn't a source, idiot. Just like anything you vomit out is worthless, so are your sources. "Oh look at me, I'm soooo special rubbing shoulders with astronauts and they are sharing their insider information..." Idiot.
@kokobaboko Been reading you two. HootyHaHa has a more legit point. KoKo, you're saying hearsay isn't a source then you call Hooty an idiot. Yet it's you that is actually the one taking hearsay seriously from the news. The News is hearsay, HootyHaHa has been saying numerous times that he got his information directly from the source itself, NASA. I trust Hooty, and have also seen the astronauts say what he's Confirmed on the NASA channel.
