The most amazing thing about the killer whales is exactly what everyone has mentioned, their intelligence, the whales that have killed the human trainers didn't do it by accident. They knew exactly what they were doing. If it gets upset it'll hurt a human even if they've been around them for years and if you make them mad enough they will decide to kill you without a second thought. They are brilliant creatures.

Captive Performing Killer Whales are not exactly similar to wild whales. They train those whales to perform incredible athletic stunts as a means to wow audiences. Not every wild killer whale can do double flips. Why have people always hunted whales? Blubber. Whales are fat asses, seriously. To illustrate this, Killer Whales and Sharks swim at nearly the same speed, yet killer whales are 6X bigger. If they were as muscular, why wouldn't they swim 6X faster?
Whales are able to rest. Sharks can never rest, they must constantly motor themselves forward through the water. You say yourself right here that there was a group of "whaleS" in the area. Just because one whale made the strike on the shark, doesn't mean none of the other whales lent material support to the attack, which though, probably they did. They bamboozle the shark swimming at it from many directions, corralling it into a kill zone. Of course only 1 need make a fatal bite.
If the killer whales didn't attack in numbers, the great white sharks would simply swim away. But they block all sides, prevent the shark from getting away. They take turns swimming up hard on him, that way some of them can swim easy, gain their breathe, while the other one's run down the sharks energy. Killer whales ALWAYS hunt in packs. If it wasn't the most significant advantage they have, why would they do it EVERY time.
Really, killer whales are lumbering and fat. Great White Sharks have the advantage tooth wise, bite size. Swim speed is nearly same. Pound for pound sharks are stronger, as they're more muscular. Granted the killer whale is 6X bigger than Great White Shark. But sometimes a pack of lions takes down a hippo. So, I still say, NUMBERS is the killer whales biggest advantage. Faced with that, being a lone shark as are all, bumbling about the ocean hunted by 7 whales it makes sense to flee.

Even if the sizes were matched up the killer whale is just more agile, stronger and clever about its business. The shark is a one trick pony that "looks more menacing" with a strong forward bite that is devastating who targets prey unsuspectingly. If the killer whale was sitting ducks unaware at the surface of the water the shark would get one good bite at best. But I'd take the Orca in all other battles especially if both were aware of each others presence.

Some pods of KW's hunt fish, like the ones we all see in Sea World (unfortunately). Other pods hunt mammals, as in seals and walrus. The mammal hunters do have you on their menu list. We just don't have enough interaction with them for it to be a real danger to us.
I have studied orca's for years. First, yes they are dangerous to humans. They are a large predator capable of taking down prey much bigger than humans. That being said they do not look at us as a food source. They look at us with curiosity. Second, in the debate of wild vs.captive, captive orca's have more recorded attacks on humans.

Not every wild killer whale can do double flips. Why have people always hunted whales? Blubber. Whales are fat asses, seriously. To illustrate this, Killer Whales and Sharks swim at nearly the same speed, yet killer whales are 6X bigger. If they were as muscular, why wouldn't they swim 6X faster?

Whales are able to rest. Sharks can never rest, they must constantly motor themselves forward through the water. You say yourself right here that there was a group of "whaleS" in the area. Just because one whale made the strike on the shark, doesn't mean none of the other whales lent material support to the attack, which though, probably they did. They bamboozle the shark swimming at it from many directions, corralling it into a kill zone. Of course only 1 need make a fatal bite.

If the killer whales didn't attack in numbers, the great white sharks would simply swim away. But they block all sides, prevent the shark from getting away. They take turns swimming up hard on him, that way some of them can swim easy, gain their breathe, while the other one's run down the sharks energy. Killer whales ALWAYS hunt in packs. If it wasn't the most significant advantage they have, why would they do it EVERY time.

Really, killer whales are lumbering and fat. Great White Sharks have the advantage tooth wise, bite size. Swim speed is nearly same. Pound for pound sharks are stronger, as they're more muscular. Granted the killer whale is 6X bigger than Great White Shark. But sometimes a pack of lions takes down a hippo. So, I still say, NUMBERS is the killer whales biggest advantage. Faced with that, being a lone shark as are all, bumbling about the ocean hunted by 7 whales it makes sense to flee.

The sharks where so afraid one beach itself in an effort to get away. You not smart to think a killer whale is fat. It a giant fast dolphin. I'll tell you what, go to sea world and watch one of them 10000 pound killers do a complete flip out of the water in a pretty small pool and then tell me if they are fat. Nothing and I mean nothing competes with brains.

Those were little sharks compared to a 2500 pound Great White. AND the scientists word on the matter was, you only see 1 killer whale there, but there's probably a bunch of them just off shore, that have corralled those sharks into the shallow. Obviously that was the situation, because WHY would the shark beach itself, if it had the option to swim away deeper? Obviously it was being hunted by a pod of whales, just 1 was determined to trap the shark that it came into the surf

It looked smaller against a full grown whale. The bottom line is Orca's are the apex predator of the sea because they are bigger, stronger, just as fast as a great white and FAR, FAR, FAR smarter. Who would believe a 5000 pound fish could be beat a 12000 pound mammal any way. That's dumb to think.

There's all kinds of things that destroy brains. A relatively stupid person with a gun can splatter a very smart person. An army of stupid people can splatter a huge group of people who were far smarter than them. Just the other day I seen a video of lions eat a baboon. I'm pretty sure seals are smarter than great whites, another example. Killer bees aren't very intelligent yet can kill a person. NUMBERS is huge in surviving the wild.

Even if the sizes were matched up the killer whale is just more agile, stronger and clever about its business. The shark is a one trick pony that "looks more menacing" with a strong forward bite that is devastating who targets prey unsuspectingly. If the killer whale was sitting ducks unaware at the surface of the water the shark would get one good bite at best. But I'd take the Orca in all other battles especially if both were aware of each others presence.

Some pods of KW's hunt fish, like the ones we all see in Sea World (unfortunately). Other pods hunt mammals, as in seals and walrus. The mammal hunters do have you on their menu list. We just don't have enough interaction with them for it to be a real danger to us.

I have studied orca's for years. First, yes they are dangerous to humans. They are a large predator capable of taking down prey much bigger than humans. That being said they do not look at us as a food source. They look at us with curiosity. Second, in the debate of wild vs.captive, captive orca's have more recorded attacks on humans.

Orca's are the greatest hunters in the ocean, they use some of the most advanced tactics & perfectly coordinated cooperation to enable them to hunt anything from fish & seals all the way up to Blue whales; & sharks are one of the best adapted creatures for their environment, they have remained unchanged since before the dinosaurs. It would be nice to see some respect for once.
