  • ok im not complaining or anything i like this but this made me so sad to see something so cute and sweet ,hurt like that [even though i know it wasnt in pain!] i started crying and had to pause it and pull my self togeather. poor baby i hope hes/shes not in pain and she/he is so cute when it peeps! hope no one hates on me for this.

  • Oh my goodness, is something wrong with it?

  • Could u contact me I have a silkie that can't stand or walk, I thought it might have been heat, I got him at an auction :/ I had to try and help.

    cherylstytle1999@gmail.com

  • can you tell me how you trained that chicken? I could tell it was semi juevenile by the fact of size, feathering progress, and it still chirps. I have 2 new Silkie bantams and a Auracana, and I'd like to raise them to be human friendly, to the point of being picked up without complaint, or at least eating out of my hand :P

  • @Zeuqe400 we handle our chickens every day - show up with food - be calm around them - they come running when they see us - and love to be picked up. Chickens are very smart and can even be trained to do tricks!

  • how long do silkie chicks grow to become laying hens?

  • the bird have wrong diet thats the reason her neck turn that way. you must feed it the right food

  • @VeganBody This was not a case of diet - but injury.

  • @alidansma You said it. I have a hen who fell behide the brooderbox when she was little and was stuck there for hours before I noticed her. She has a kink in her neck now, but she is doing great. Is this silkie of yours still around?

  • fuck me, poor chicken. your time caring for her wasn't wasted though, i'm sure the extra love helped ease her passing.

  • you 2 people are poop to me

  • I had a and still havea Polish Bantam that was in worse condition.. Has grown up fine but with a crooked beak.. I thought he was having fits lol

  • cutes chicken everrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • he looks funny

  • i hope and pray that your chicken gets well because he/she is sooo pretty

  • cutest little thing ever!

  • Thanks for sharing this film with us. It was useful to make a diagnosis.

  • poor chicken D;

  • 1:22 Timmy! Gobbles!

  • Aww, ittle silkies! i remember when my Buffs where that young!

  • Aww I miss my chickens! But i am now a city slicker :(

  • Is it yours? The chicken, I mean.

  • I am very sorry for this Chicken! It is so cute. Poor thing, its head is dragging on the floor. Did it survive? I feel really bad for it. My mom wants one of them.

  • black chicken!

  • thank you for this video.. shortly after watching, i noticed one of my silkies doing the exact same thing. i only had Furosemide / lasex, but worked like a charm.. this is definately Swelling related. after about 0.3ml mixed with chick feed, once a day for 3 days, and the bird was fine. THANK YOU!

  • why does it keep leening its head becuase i 2 hav a blake silky and it does not do that and 1 of them died :(

  • Aww, I have a silkie and he is the best! I hope this little guy made it out okay. :(

  • how long can you keep them alone with food water and bedding alone?

  • HELP my new chick has a wierd lump forming on its chest. im not sure if its normal development or it might be meraks disease. i need advice. PLZ DONT REMOVE THIS COMMENT!

  • @them34 I know this comment was a long time ago - but for future readers - chicks get lumps on their chest after eating - they are stroign the food in their crop befor eit is digested - after a few hours it will go away.

  • @them34 it might be its crop-where it stores its food

  • how old is this chick?

  • I had a little guinea pig with a neurological disorder, who could only run in circles and shook her head if you touched her there. Our guinea pigs led short, unhappy lives.

I just don't think rodents make good pets. How are your chickens? Do they show affection to you?

  • i am planning to buy one of those too but i dont know where to buy them. Do you think they sell here in the Philippines? how much do one of those cost? thanks :)

  • I had a little 1 week old develop this type of synrome. I gave him poly-vi-sol (baby liquid vitamins) and vitamin E capsule to get him better. He's perfectly fine now, and he was just as bad or worse than that little guy.

  • that chicken has to be old now. mine are pushing 2 and a half

  • thats really good that you were helping her. its hard for young birds to recover unless helped along every step of the way.

  • Our Silky Chicken had the exact same problem, and we fixed it with nutralife vitamins "Selenium A,C,E Plus" its a high potency antioxidant, Just dissolve it in water, and give to the chicken in a teaspoon, morning and night, in 1 week our chicken was back to normal. Just pick it up at the local health food shop, its for humans.

  • is that te biggest they get? i am looking at getting one. do they smell bad?

  • Lol, I got a grey one myself, they get to the size of a normal chicken, and appear bigger because of their 'fur'

And do they small bad, If you leave them in the garden (mines in the front garden, no fence, just likes it so much inside) they sorta pick up the smell of flowers, well, Bac (my chicken) eats the flowers, especially daisies.

  • no they get bigger. they smell as bad as any other bird, and these guys are so awsome as the sceech softly rather than cluck. THERE SO AWSOME!!!!

  • no they get bigger no they dont smell too much

  • in usa and uk they are very small. But in Japan they grow a lot bigger

  • no they dont smell bad. unless they get a bunch of chicken goop on thier feet feathers.. which is common in non-clean keeping areas.. but if well kept, they are a fantasticly clean bird. i have 4 which free range in my subberbs backyard. great pets for young children as well. but NOT good if you have a dog. the birds are to teritorial and they will challenge the dog, contenually.. "oddly, my dog got lost. so i guess the birds won."

  • @smileforJB 2 things, one they don't, and two, they will get somewhat bigger, but they won't be above 3-4 pounds (1-1.8kilos). the one in the video is a juevenile, I'd say 2-3 months in age

  • @smileforJB The poop might get on your nerves depending what kind of yard you have. I live in a regular house and pressure wash the patio every other day, the smell doesn't bother me at all. As far as the way they themselves smell, I personally sniff their heads and backs while nuzzling them, I love the way they smell, just thinking about it warms me.

  • It seems that the three (out of 50 birds and a few years of breeding) that have come down with this have all been about 2-3 months old.

I am treating the current case with vitamin B complex, and children's motrin until I can get some prednisone, but I have read that Prednisone is the best thing for traumatic brain injury.

  • Are you still breeding from the affected ones?

  • Maybe even after the swelling has subsided there could be brain damage from where the blood was cut off from a section of the brain for a period of time - I don't know this but it is just an idea.

  • I have another bird with this condition now and I am pretty sure it is due to a brain injury. Silkies have vaulted skulls which means there are places where their brains are not coverd by their skull. If the chicks are eating and one chick pecks a silkie in the wrong spot it causes the brain to swell and puts pressure on the brain at the edges of the skull.

  • aww, sorry to hear.

  • geez! Poor thing! Nice vid though! Now everyone will remember her

  • i have a quail thats doin that right now but im getting it treated and its looking better

  • I have a silky chicken too but she has a crooked beak.

  • @survivorduck11 I had a girl with cross beak and with a deep dish of food and occasional trim she lived to be over four years old!

  • Cover the food

    Chicken: WTH!

    Uncover the food

Chicken: WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN

    sad you lost it..

  • does the chirping signify that its still a chick?

  • wat wrong with its head its always tilted

  • This chicken began to recover from this condition but unfortunatly I lost her to pnemonia a couple of weeks after this video was taken. :(

  • shit. man i feel for you that would really suck balls, it makes me sad to hear that.

  • she's soo beautyfull she sertanly is a keeper no matter her disorder she is so preety

  • did it live or die?

  • good chances it lived. mine did.

  • i love this thing!!!!

  • Please please tell me if she is still alive and what happened to her!

  • @newzealandgal74

Hi did you got the answer?

    Chick survived or not?

  • It is so cute! I think all chickens even disabled ones, mentally and physically, should be given a fair chance at life!

  • you mean person...loved him walking in reverse gear though

  • is wry neck life threatining?

  • how come it's head is always tilted to the side? is there something wrong with it?

  • Is this a femal or male, is there a differance like in the other chiekn types.

  • Poor thing.:-(

He/she is just beautiful despite that.:-)

  • How is this bird doing now? I am curious about its bloodlines.

  • Is she still alive now? Please reply i really want to know, I have a silkie thats disabled.

  • cutest thing ever

  • awe, I would be so sad if that happened to my silkie, is it ok now? Silkies have a long lifespan so take care.

  • Poor thing!!! Did it get better?

  • that thing is the birdy contorsionist! lol

  • I was wondering, will wry neck eventually kill the bird?

  • we had 2 of these, they can sk8 board and slead

  • how old is he/she ?

  • Hi the chicken is so cute

  • How old is this Silky in this video?

One of my chooks suffered the same thing..

  • aww thats so sads, is he doing any better now?

  • It's really rather sad considering the bird is in such good condition and so well cared and fed. I hope my htachling doesn't get this :'[ Very sweet little creature, though.

    What a gorgeous animal!!

  • So his neck will be crimped forever?

  • It's really cute but it sorta looks like a mix between a chicken and a pikinies (sp?) [its a dog im not sure if i spelled it right though]

    -daniela

  • WHats wrong with her?

  • thats adorable!

  • The little peeps it makes when eating reminds me of raising my chicks...I wish they could stay that young forever!

  • Is she still alive? Or has her sickness killed her :( if you look at my video i have a white Chinese silky with crooked legs

  • aww... is it fatal?

  • It's adorable, but I feel sorry for it. What sort of treatment would a chicken get for this disorder?

  • Your silkie has crook neck, You need to start giving her liquid B vitamins every day for two weeks, it works!!

  • Im touched by this video i have a crooked silkie called madaline u can see videos of her on youtube sadly she died today though

  • The little chick looks lyk a BIG FOOT snow yeti.Look at the chicks feet lol

  • Poor little bird.

  • hes so cute! :D

  • I had one of mine do that , I called her crazy daisy she would take off running and turn round and round but she was so sweet . her head did not do as bad as yours but it did lean to the side.

  • Hi.. im just wondering.. whatever happened to your bird??

    ~Mandy

    email me

  • poor bloody thing. do they die from this?

  • omg that is so cute and sad :( I have a little silkie wo was born with crooked legs and i love her to peices :)

  • Is there a treatment for this? Can this get better?

  • Poor little guy, at least you're looking after it well. I was thinking of getting a few silkies for my garden -mostly for the eggs- but they make lovely pets. That was a good example of a lovely bird, it's ashame about the wry neck.

  • It still looks cuddly. Did you ever get the problem fixed?

  • oh, poor thing, is there anyway to treat that?
