there is a slight difference between the two. "aloud" can be used as an opposite to "whisper" or "low voice" whereas "out loud" is to be used as an opposite to "thinking but not actually voicing something"

You're right and I take back what I said. Except for the fact that I laughed at using "aloud" as "allowed". English is my second language and I'm very strict about it; the same goes to my native language.... But I'm human and I make mistakes and I also recognize when I'm wrong. On the other hand, it DOES confuse me when people try to say something and they misspell... At first I didn't know what they meant with "aloud". It's annoying sometimes... Don't you think?
