Ahhhhh...the wonders of the internet.....so good when it works! So annoying when it does not! Call centres are the bane of my life. I recently changed internet providers and the time wasted sorting out the bugs was somewhat annoying. You have my empathy!
Pay pal, does that work in Japan? If so, the eBay issues (once you get in) might be better.....might be....
haha, when you started to talk about boycotts and whatnot, I was getting ready to stop using it completely, then as you said they just work on numbers it hit me. your right... it wont do anything, which is a real shame, anyway thanks so much for the vids and all the behind the scenes action that you do to make our youtube experience more enjoyable! kampai! ^__^
oooh maaann!!! I really wanted one (at least) of those lacked boxes...
I stopped using paypal some years ago and was ready to go through all the hassle just to put my hands on the bento boxes... I guess I would face similar contingencies as you did.
Haha, seems like you get frustrated with big companies quite often. But believe me, it does not really get any better. If you want to be on the Internet, you pretty much have to get used to it and be patient with it. I work in Information Technology, so I sort of know that you have to "play the game" sometimes. Hang with it, I think you can go big!
12:53 <- Lol. I know what you mean. Those companies are so full of it! They claim to do this for security reasons, but it becomes too much of a hassle to the consumer. There are other fail-safes they can take that would never require customers to contact them. Better yet, they should focus more on customer service which seems to be a forgotten art in America!
I buy allot of stuff from Japan on eBay from different companies never had a problem with them and always get my product. I hope eBay gets in gear and fix your account good luck.
I have problems with paypal to, i added my card and i took it off because it wasn't letting me use my paypal to buy things. Then when i tried to put it back on they said contact my bank...so i gave up i have to use my dads card now and give him the money :P
Would you be interested in showing an item on a Youtube video and have people commenting/bidding on it? If you tube has issues with auctioning items like that, you could even ask for people to personally message you on Youtube with subject line: ITEM...ect..and leave their bid..... I would be interested in paying the shipping fees and using Pay Pal to purchase items.
A little like your e-bay experience. I was ASKED to join an online discussion forum. I was not terribly interested but I joined out of politeness and curiosity. I checked the site out a couple of times and then stayed out of it for something like 3 months, and then I got an e-mail from the site admin telling me that my account is going to be deleted right now because I haven't been active at the site for a couple of months. They are basically nice people, but I won't bother to re-register...
Let's just laugh together at the poor customer service corporations so often have... I think it's the same in every country. Once a company gets big, it starts to get arrogant, which is a huge mistake, but I guess they all need to learn it the hard the way. It's like all the books in the library warning about this mistake have been ignored by them. And hey, thanks for the videos.
Consider e-mail "newsletters" and RSS feeds to tell people about your new videos and about other new things you want people to have a look at. I guess this would only really work with people that are your true fans already. Of course you'd have to automate as much of it to not create too much workload for yourself, so you'd write the message only once, click "send" and then it'd automatically go to all the places you want it to go to. Try to get a coder friend do something like that for you.
Ebay nowadays is a pain in the ass even for Americans! All you have to do is read the Ebay forums to see how many sellers are leaving!
You have an advantage over others! Since you're so well known all you have to do is set up a Blogspot to sell your items and advertise it on YT! No Ebay fees and just take Paypal and Propay!
I have a family member that uses eBay for her second income and out of the blue they closed her account to check it out for fraud and she couldn't access her money. She has been buying and selling on eBay for at least 12 years. It isn't electronics or anything, it is children's clothes and things. I think she is still waiting.
I take it that there aren't any "I sold it on e-bay" type companies in Japan where you can drop off the stuff you want to sell, and they sell it on their site, collect the payment and pay you (minus their fee)?
Every IT system works like that, they change servers and update databases every few months, it's actually a miracle, that your account was still there, after few years. It's better, in my oppinion, to just delete an inactive account.
Even Apple once put a finger in my ars and I could not change my bank account, just because I've crated an account years ago, when they didn't have the "no card" option and my account was still on the old server without the option.
what a load of bunk.I can't believe the hassle you've had from these guys, ugh,it's disgusting.Personally i think that you should just skip ebay altogether, they have fees on top of fees, it's ridiculous.Just go through the stuff, and price it.You can always take money orders or wire transfers too.Don't worry about the shipping thing, just make it clear that you will go to the post office on sort of predictable schedule, like once or twice a month, and leave it at that.Batch ship outs.
Dude...just set up a merchant store and sell it that way...and, you don't have to use paypal, there are other systems like wepay, which then let's you sell all those beautiful things to us, and we then don't have to use EvilBay or paypal....
Now i see why Facebook will get attacked on saturday, it is because they upset users like you; hope the Ebay thing gets settled their is lots of good stuff to sell and not just destroy.
It all depends on who you speak to at Ebay. I had a pin head give me the run around and was ready to close my account. The next day an intelligent individual called me back and resolved the issue in less than a minute. I've received paypal payment in ¥ before from a Japanese account, i'm surprised there is such a problem. How about posting the items for sale at a set price on your web page and sell them that way. Good Luck hope it gets resolved.
I don't blame you....I was on Facebook for least than a week..then cancelled...just didn't like them....but maybe if you could find another sources....instead of E-bay.
@t3hpyr0x It's not just counties. I've logged in from my home and from school. When I logged in from my school, I had to do security tests because it was a new location. Once I got past the tests, it was fine.
I get this "if you don't like it, then leave" attitude all the time. The only thing you can do is either find a better service provider or start offering a better service yourself. Complaining about it rarely helps. It can help if you find enough people with the same problem, but with big companies it's pretty much hopeless.
Lol that's because you need to make a fan page, not a personal page. Facebook does that to avoid what happened to myspace. You need to know someone in person or else you can add them as a friend. To get around that make a "fan page".
@sweetfeat1 After watching further into the video, I notice you're aware of this. And arrogance isn't really the right word - I'd say they're more overwhelmed. How could a company that services millions of people respond individually? A little unrealistic I'd say.
Silly , Just set a price and sell them . Have the money sent Western Union , you get paid in minutes then ship the product with a tracking number . If you get more than 1 request for an item then use your number generator to decide . That totally cuts out the middle man .
@t3hpyr0x You may be right, but the crux of the matter is, since whatever happened has happened, there's no way out! He's stuck. I had a similar problem with PayPal years ago, and their response to me was just the same: "Yes, your account is now stuck in limbo. Get new checking and email accounts, and make a new PayPal account." Truly outrageously ridiculous!
@sueb262 i am so happy i did not link my old account with my bank account... was just about to do it when they "caught fraudulent activity".... only thing i used paypal was to support a online gaming guild..... they took the money out of the guild account and never gave me my money back.....
I love this channel! You're really funny! Actually checked it a few days ago making sure I haven't missed a new video! It's unfortunate that you've been having such problems with those sites. I would feel the same way if in you position. I hope everything works out for the best!
Yeah...I managed to get my 'security questions' right, it seems lol Yeah, I was going to mention the 'fan page' thing...I won;t now lol Thanks for your opinions and comments. Sorry to hear eBay was being a pain in the keiser roll (or other places ;P). Thanks for the sake server set! And the hassle you did manage to put up with! :)
I completely paid attention to all of the video, and agree with everything--but for some reason the little bit of flying dust on 15:10 caught my attention immediately. o__o;
@t3hpyr0x This is funny I have friends from all over the world on Facebook and I've never had that problem. However I've had FaceBook detect me from 'being' in detroit when I live in Western New York.
@genuinebbuck What I mean is, if I tried to log into your account from Australia, but Facebook has logs that you always log in from America, then you attempt to log in from America again in a short time frame (basically too short for you to actually go from Australia to the US), it would flag it as suspicious. They're basically saying "how the hell did you get across the world so quickly? Sounds suspicious to us. Please verify yourself."
In the end it is frustrating as a European to hear how these large American dot com corporations still treats everyone outside the US so badly. They are right when they admit we have no choice, which causes me to again wonder why the hell no one has gotten involved in making viable rivals to these services? If Iran and North Korea really want to make a statement against the capatalist west they should just spend their time developing new ebays, facebooks and youtubes. Nuclear is so 1950´s!!
Witth regards to Ebay, they have spent the past couple of years buying up regional trade sites around the world to get a share of the market. In Denmark they bought the largest player (DBA.dk) and this runs with 100% Danish staff and personal service still. However, Paypal has become available last week as a payment option which makes no sence in a country the size of Wales or Greater Tokyo. Here we still have two smaller rivals and Ebay are careful here because of Danish laws.
Dude, I am also a huge fan of your "Hey Guys" videos and hope you continue with this as your two channels are some of the most original on Youtube. Your experience with Facebook is common. I ran a company page for my last employer for two years and we had to go over to a fan page from a personal page. Fan pages can be controlled by several administrators who all have to have personal Facebook pages themselves. Again, this ensures more personal users. Facebook are slowly colonising the internet.
@Riakon I think that for him (as it would be for me) the truly shitty response is just too much to swallow. (I think he says something like that in the video.) A person has to draw the line somewhere, and it seems foolish to me to invest further time/effort into a company that, should other problems crop up in the future, has made it clear that you just have to walk away from whatever you had there (items for sale, selling/buying history, seller reputation, etc.).
That's funny same thing happened to my dad and I told them to call them. He said "do they even have a number?" I replied with "No, they don't work in a large building with a single phone". I wasn't really sure, but I mean you have to be able to contact them right? And sure enough he figured it out, and had to scan and send his identification to them.
I use to sell on eBay and use PayPal [>2000 feedback]. PayPal and eBay are basically different divisions of the same company. They are a pain to deal with, and their fees have become outrageous. And if you have an issue, even with a business account, they are a pain to deal with.
You might want to check into selling on a website called Etsy. People sell antiques on there but you would still use PayPal. It's quite a bit of better class items than you would find on eBay.
Could you actually sell things not only to America but also to Europe? You have also a lot of fans not only in UK for example, but others European countries (me as one of them) and we would appreciate it a lot (I'm sure I'm speaking on behalf of others too).
DUDE !! screw them all ... you probably already know that if ebay do do anything in those 9 days it'll be a miracle ... I and no doubt alot of people here are happy watching just your videos here on youtube and were happy with just that ... im also hooked on your new farmhouse vids im looking forward to the next 2 or 5 or 10 years worth of future videos documenting the renovation, what a wonderful place you have there ... keep doing what your doing dude....all the best to you....from scotland!!
I don't know if this is related can you do a video about internet censorship? like the recent SOPA/PIPA bill and major file sharing sites being taken down etc...
The Ebay thing is frakked. I buy stuff from people in Japan and China through Ebay and Paypal all the time. Sorry they are frak'n with you so much. Bummer, those saki bottles looked so cool too.
Ah, if PayPal's a problem, I dunno how to help. But, if PayPal is okay, you could try Mondro instead of eBay. I've never used it before, but they are like eBay except without the fees. -- Not as popular, but if you send your subscribers over...
You need to talk to Softypapa here on Youtube. His name is Kurt and he lives there in Japan and has done ebay from there before, He might be able to help you! :)
its ok i still love your channel and its my favorite on all of youtube lets just hope for my sake and everyone else's that you dont get sick of YouTube because i really love and enjoy all you videos :)
I also had to pass the facebook photo test, they showed me photos of peoples cats! i only had maybe 150 friends but too many post cat photos, and i just didn't know their cats.
it asks for first and last name of one of your friends
will it do anything if you give em on of those or just ask you to identify a random pic?
Your right though they say this to almost any issue a computer cant resolve.
"Thanks for taking the time to submit this report. We don't provide personalized support for this issue right now, but we'll use this information to identify any bugs in our system."
@MrEDDFire Lol, yeah I know that! I was just thinking maybe Facebook was being more careful because of what was going on recently. But of course it could just be Facebook! :p
They should Call it Faceless Book! because you will never face a real person when you need help
...thank god they have a phone number...lol ... Welcome back to Ebay ? how can we mess with you ? I would say if they fix it try again but if it keeps occurring i would say Fudge it.
ebay.co.jp/acquisition/contactus.html
that link is for their customer help form in japan
because they seperate the different country logins etc...
do you use a english version of Ebay or the Japanese to login
You've had a strange run of ridiculous b.s. from these companies. Hopefully someone there will see that all the terrible customer service will eventually hurt their bottom line.
So anyway... how about selling stuff here on youtube? Do a video on the piece and have your viewers bid on it and the funniest comments win the item! Or something like that. I'm just kidding. Jodan desu.
I worked for Samsung as a call taker (I won't dignify it by calling it "Customer Service") and they tried to program the people that worked for them like robots, so I left that job, I can think for myself. Another somewhat interesting story: I have a SONY PS3, and needed some help, they have a number, and there's all these options "Press1" and so-on, and no matter what you press, it went to the same recording: "Please go to our website and send us an e-mail..."
First of all, I really like your trademark "hey guys" at the beginning of every video. I hope everything with eBay works out for you. And, I look forward to more videos :)
I'm still getting emails from Facebook even though I closed my account years ago. But I don't know how to contact them to tell them to sod off and stop sending them. They're a pain in the arse! I remember someone saying Facebook is like the Hotel California. You can check out, but you can never leave. You're better off away from them. I never use Ebay either.
You should just make a Facebook /page/ for your channel that people can just like. That way they could still get the information without having to be added as a friend.
Hi, I've asked this question quite a few times before, you must've missed it.
Did you find any hotpot soup powder packets in Japan? I used to buy them from a shop here (I'm from India) but they stopped restocking it. :( Can you like put some up for sale on amazon? I love hotpot <3
For such a widespread social service, that's one poor attempt at a security implementation (Facebook)...

Thanks for the video!

You dear friend are so much more professional than youtube and facebook.

I completely paid attention to all of the video, and agree with everything--but for some reason the little bit of flying dust on 15:10 caught my attention immediately. o__o;

@t3hpyr0x This is funny I have friends from all over the world on Facebook and I've never had that problem. However I've had FaceBook detect me from 'being' in detroit when I live in Western New York.
genuinebbuck 1 month ago
@genuinebbuck What I mean is, if I tried to log into your account from Australia, but Facebook has logs that you always log in from America, then you attempt to log in from America again in a short time frame (basically too short for you to actually go from Australia to the US), it would flag it as suspicious. They're basically saying "how the hell did you get across the world so quickly? Sounds suspicious to us. Please verify yourself."
t3hpyr0x 1 month ago

At least you can always sell that stuff at yahoo auctions to locals and get some coin out of it.

Why not just make a new Ebay page?
Riakon 1 month ago

Ah, if PayPal's a problem, I dunno how to help. But, if PayPal is okay, you could try Mondro instead of eBay. I've never used it before, but they are like eBay except without the fees. -- Not as popular, but if you send your subscribers over...
Well, I hope everything works out.

facebook . com/recover
it asks for first and last name of one of your friends
will it do anything if you give em on of those or just ask you to identify a random pic?
Your right though they say this to almost any issue a computer cant resolve.
"Thanks for taking the time to submit this report. We don't provide personalized support for this issue right now, but we'll use this information to identify any bugs in our system."

You are not the only one with eBay problems.
Some seller by mistake gave me -1 rating for a deal that never happened.
So i couldn't buy anything from eBay.
Now i trade directly with people via post and a confirmation payment.
Not a dime for eBay, even though i still use it to search for goods.
