  • omg this is the first LotR battle report ^^

  • ring wraiths dont sleep it should have been the guard not the uruk

  • @jewb66 That's true. I guess he was just hanging out and enjoying all the creature comforts that a tent in the wilderness would provide :)

  • too bad that was a good BR i would have liked to see more

    :(

  • @solarchipmunk Glad you enjoyed it. I really wish we could have finished that game as well, but I'm pretty sure my Uruk camp was about to be leveled! I rebuilt the table last week and you actually commented during our first game on it. More videos will be on the way :)

  • @theTerribleFamiliar great, that river is good how did you do it?

its from battle games in middle earth, right?

  • @solarchipmunk Oh you are too kind. Not sure where I got the idea for the rivers, but I used linoleum floor tile for them because I had some. They work well because they are all 12" squares. If you make sure each end section is the same width, they all join up easily. I added air-dry clay to make the banks, then undercoated in white paint. built up the blues of the river (lighter at the banks). Then a few thin coats of a cheap gloss varnish - Liquitex I think. Message me for more details.

  • Used to play this when i was a kid, man i miss those days, my army ironicly was uruks. Can't remember any of the rules haha. i should get back into this. recently watched all 3 extended movies and am in love with the universe again. defianatly subbed and will watch any other vids like this you have :)

  • @GizmoTheFFF Hey you're never too old to start again. Just make sure you have a supportive (or at least tolerant) significant other :) Those movies are a big motivator for me too. Every time I watch them, I don't want the fun to stop and start thinking about playing LotR SBG. Dig those Uruks out and give them some love dude... Where do you live? Might be some good nerd-stores around with some players.

  • ah man huge lotr fan i used to play this but none of my friends did or do and i wanna start again how do i get them into it theyd probally think its gay?

  • @Toxicmoose1 ha ha.... Yes it sounds like the problem that plagues many a would-be tabletop gamer. Do your friends like to play video games? Maybe you could convince them that it's like playing them, but more detailed and sociable since you're enjoying the game with someone else in the same room. You could start building your own terrain and painting some minis. Tell them it's like building your own world... that's cool. Sometimes seeing it all the table is convincing.

  • @Toxicmoose1 You can tell them its like anyother table top game and even better (in my opinion) and not like toys which are played by little children. And also if you show them how the game can be played you may change their minds.

  • @SneakyDrummer96 thanks mate

  • @Toxicmoose1 I have the same problem but I do have one friend that will occasionally play. We have been doing this for a few years now and those are the best battles I have (battles against yourself are nothing compared to against others).

  • Best army in lotr SBG is Angmar allied with monsters of middle earth

  • @Keeli997 i usesd an ent and i killed 2 trolls and nearly killed sauron

  • oh god i dont know what army to get urak-hai, goblins, dwarves help me plzz what would you recommend not out of those 3 just any race

  • @elitemajor194 Well Uruk-hai and Goblins are going to be more diverse than the dwarves. Dwarves are very solid and you wouldn't need many models to get a good army going, but having a big horde of goblins is fun too. You really can't go wrong. I'd look at it like this: 1) do you want a good or bad army? 2) Whose troops do you like the most? 3) What parts of the books/films get you excited and why? Those kinds of questions led me to Dwarves as my first army, but every army in lotr is fun.

  • @elitemajor194 Dwarves are the way to go, i have almost 200, and have never lost even back when i only had one box of 24

  • Comment removed

  • @elitemajor194 I say collect a wide range of different figures from the Lord of the Rings range. At times as you may sway towards one specific army or another collect a few more of them. I find for some people that the first figure or figures that you ever got tend to belong to the team that you will like the best in the long run. My first was Gimli and I love the dwarves, however they share my passion with Gondor and at times the Goblins.

  • because im only starting do you think i should go straight for urak-hai or use something more like goblins

  • @elitemajor194 Well you should always go with the army whose lore and appearance interests you the most. That way you keep your interest up while you spend many hours painting and playing them. That being said though, I think Uruks are a great starting army for a couple of reasons: They are well rounded and allow you to do well in all aspects of the game, and you don't need as many physical models to get an army together. That means you have to spend less cash to get a 500pt force going :)

  • im thinking about starting to get urakis i was like hmmm but now ive seen this video im definetley getting em thanks you helped a lot please make more vids :D

  • @elitemajor194 Awesome! It's a great game and I hope you enjoy it. If you ever need any info, just drop me a line. Glad you liked the vid... I'll make some more soon.

  • are you uirkai because i'am urikai for my second army. to bad theres no second part.

  • are uirkai because i'am urikai for my second army. to bad theres no second part.

  • @lotrstrategybattle Uruks are great! Tough as nails and a nice variety in troop types.

  • i think your eleven army is awesome because i'am elevs to but you should get some wood elevs and hores men????????????

  • @lotrstrategybattle Actually that's my buddy's elf army. He plays it really well, but it certainly needs some paint!

  • whens part two

  • @lotrstrategybattle Unfortunately the table had to be taken down when we moved. I'm rebuilding it over the holiday weekend, but this game was a casualty. No part two, but there will be other LotR battle reports in the future!

  • This looks really cool! I play (building my army) warhammer fantasy and I want to try this

  • @verizonsucks1324 Nice... Warhammer Fantasy is great fun too, but you can't go wrong with LotR SBG either. It's fast, it's fun, the rules are tight so there aren't crazy imbalances, and it doesn't cost as much to play. Have fun :)

  • how did you make the tents and the walls

  • @lotrstrategybattle Hey I like your name :) There's a guide for them in the sourcebook "Shadows in the East". I started with some hard foam that I roughly cut into the shape of the tent. Then I glued on some cut pieces of square dowel balsa wood. I angled some of them at the top of the foam to make the top of the tent. Then make an elmer's glue and water solution (mostly water). Rip up pieces of tissue paper, soak in the glue solution, and then apply them to the foam. Messy & effective :)

  • You should have pulled back and re grouped when the elves got in

  • @mrjmelly1 Yeah that would have been the next turn. It was important to stay spread out to spot the infiltrators in the first part of the scenario. He made a nice move to blow up the door and got a lucky roll to burn it down on his first attempt! I was hoping for another turn or two to consolidate the uruks... ah well... Wish we could have finished this game, but I think it was about to get pretty one-sided :) The actual printed scenario uses Easterlings and Gondor I think.

  • when is part 2

  • @daking32321 Really wish I could say "very soon", but unfortunately, we had to sell the house with this awesome man room and move! The table is in storage, but will be coming back out toward the end of November this year. We won't be able to finish this specific game, but there will certainly be more LotR and more battle reports...

I think the Elves were about to hand me my orcish behind in this one! :)

  • @deltaforce327 I've played Warhammer since 4th edition, so I'm pretty old school :) The game has changed a good bit and sometimes I think that GW has kind of over-managed it - you know? Like they gave it too much love and attention and it's turned it into a giant bloated beast of a game with tons of imbalance and ridiculousness. That craziness can be a lot of fun though! LotR SBG is a very well made ruleset. That and the lore probably make it my favorite GW game, but I enjoy them both.

  • @deltaforce327 It kind of depends... they fulfill slightly different roles and it's been a while since I looked at the stat-line side by side. IIRC, the Uruks have scouts with decent shooting, but they aren't going to be as tough as a base dwarf. Uruks also have crossbows which will tear people apart and is some of the strongest shooting in the game, but they can't move and shoot. Dwarves have some base warriors that can take bows and they also have rangers which have better shoot stats.

  • @deltaforce327 Dwarves were my first force! They don't have as much variety, but if you want an isengard-like force on the good side, they are a great fit. Very very tough, but a few less frills. It's all fun though. Have fun taking the plunge and post a video or comment with how you are liking it.

  • @deltaforce327 Hey deltaforce327. Really I'd recommend any army that gets you excited. If you like the lore or the look of a certain army, go for it. That will keep you more interested in them for the long haul. All the armies are very well balanced in SBG. If you're looking to dip your toe in the water and not spend a lot, the Uruks are a good way to go. Elite units with shooting, fighting, magic - they have it all!

  • can you put up a vid about to play lord of the rings.

  • @SmurfyBoy9777 Hey SmurfyBoy - That's a good idea. When we get settled again in the fall, I'll have to do that. Until then, you might want to check out the forums at theonering or thelastalliance. I haven't been there in a while, but they both had very helpful communities when I was getting started :)

  • @SmurfyBoy9777 im going to steel that idea if you dont mined? :)

  • @SmurfyBoy9777 Sorry I missed this comment for so long! Yes I could do an introduction to the game. That's a great idea. I think GW may be changing it in the near future as they have some books on advance order for the Strategy Battle Game. Stay tuned :)

  • @deltaforce327 It's a great game.... even when you're getting killed :) I'd really like to make the second half, but we'll have to start this one all over again. We moved and I need to get this table rebuilt. Bummer... but I'll get back in shape soon.

  • Great - collected the miniatures years ago and have since become interested again.

  • @IPAColosseum That's what I love about miniatures. They don't go out of style. A well made miniatures game is still a well made game after 10 years. Enjoy getting back into it!

  • ISENGARD!!! Die ugly elf's :D

  • @oersl Good call my man... Isengard to the end :)

  • @theTerribleFamiliar

Isengard is my legion of choice. I just got my first miniatures :D I got a box of fighting Uruk Hai, and i'm hopefully getting some Warg Riders, Lurtz and some Crossbows.

  • @RobotsGreatWar2 Those are all good choices. Crossbows are murderous in WotR and pretty great in LotR SBG as well. I really like my berserkers, but some folks don't. They are a hit or miss unit. When you get a good force going, check out Saruman too as he can be a lot of fun in higher point games.

  • @theTerribleFamiliar

Yeah I was either going for Saruman or Lurtz, although both would be beautiful. I probably won't get Warg riders for a while but I'll try to get some Crossbows for now and order Lurtz online since no GW won't sell him unless I come across a rare pack where he comes with Grisnick (whoever he is called).

But i'm looking forward to start playing the game since Isengard in my opinion has the better units opposed to Mordor.

  • @theTerribleFamiliar

I got some Crossbows, but Wargs and Lurtz will be purchased soon. I'm getting Wargs and Saruman with Grima first, then i'll order lurtz later.

  • Only downside to this game as much as I love it, is that painting the figures takes a long while. URUKS FOR THE WIN!

  • have u finished this battle yet? =)

  • @Keeli997 Ugh! I wish we had... it was looking like a victory for the Uruks at that point, but unfortunately the table had to get cleaned off for another event before we could finish. I was bummed, but we'll set this up again soon. It's a great scenario.

  • Dude, I loved this video and I want to get back into this but I find it very expensive :( any idea where I can get figures and paints etc for cheap?

  • This is great!

  • @aldenkingfull Whoa... glad you liked it :) It's a great game.

  • @theTerribleFamiliar i play it somet times! it works really well. Wheres part2?

  • more sunoreos

  • Awesome what website did you find that scenario at

    keep up the awesome work

  • Awesome what website did you find that scenario at

    keep up the awesome work

  • @Keeli997 Hey thanks much for the kind comment :) The scenario comes from one of the official GW books called "Shadows in the East". It's a good book with lots of good LotR hobby stuff. I think you can find it for pretty cheap on Ebay nowadays. If it isn't easy to track down, send me a message and I'll send you the gist of how it works.

  • @theTerribleFamiliar thank you man

  • @theTerribleFamiliar thank you man

hope that u realise the other part of this vid soon

  • great vid i play uricks and have learnt some thing please try and make more vids please

  • @benmcdonnell12 Awesome! Keep the vibe alive on those Uruks. They are very well balanced IMO. I like playing them a lot too.

Thanks for your comments. The pics have all been taken for some more games and I'll get a video up soon. Have a good one!

  • Awesome!!!

  • Epic Battle report! Always like LOTR :D

  • @AlanWolmac Right on, brother :) Thanks for checking it out. More are coming.

  • Nice BR. What book is this scenario in?

  • @ChizelMonkee Hey ChizelMonkee - it's in the "Shadows in the East" book. A lot of folks overlooked it because it's a bit removed from the movies, but it has some great scenarios in it - this one included! There are some good terrain building guides in it too.

  • @theTerribleFamiliar Thanks for the reply. I've been hesitant to get into the Battle Game, but this scenario and your BR have me rethinking it! thx

  • How did you make the mounds for the tower

  • @daylndude Hey man - I built all this terrain based on the instructions in the "Shadows in the East" sourcebook. The towers start with a circular piece of matboard (from picture framing) and then I glue on a piece of styrofoam. That has a cut out of it that forms the little 'dugout'. Dugout is lined with cut up bits of coffee stir sticks... all made for really cheap! Making terrain is tons of fun :) I'll get a tutorial up on my blog at midloo.blogspot.com

  • I think that intro is pretty damn silly :P

  • @atnasomfg What can I say? I'm a silly dude... and don't take playing with tiny plastic men too seriously either :)

  • @theTerribleFamiliar Nothing ill meant by it! :) Nice battle report!

  • This is how I want my Uruk Hai to look!

  • @RobotsGreatWar2 I bought these painted, so I can't take credit! Keep working at it. Check out "the one ring" forums... they have some nice tutorials. I do like the painting part of the hobby the most. Check out my blog at midloo.blogspot.com

  • Nice terrain and paintjobs!

  • @LlamasOnAcid Hey thanks man... I had fun making all the stuff for the scenario!
