Tupac then opened his eyes once, while Kidada was putting Don McLean’s "Vincent" into a player next to his bed. She asked him if he heard her and to move his feet and he did. She asked if he knew she loved him, he nodded. But then he went into a coma.

This was one of my father's favorite songs. I know it's really about Vincent Van Gogh, But my father always said it reminded him of the poem Richard Corey.
damn i had to hear da song that was played in the hospital righ b4 pacs death it was one of his fav that nikka knew sum badass shit bout music this song is soothing so calmly
@westsideoutlaw956 I'm glad that someone like Tupac, whose talent was in hiphop, loved this song so much. I wish hiphop could be more like this, positive and heartwarming, not angry and aggressive.
I dedicate this song to my radiant nephew, Kevin, who took his life one week ago. A brilliant ray of light who the world could could not see him shine. Kevin, "this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you". Vive toujour!
I've already use it in class as a student to show my friends Vincent´s master pieces. It´was beatiful to see them in silence listening and admiring. Some thin happened in all of us that day.
you devote every living min. of every day to it ,quit your real job, write poems and sing songs all day and before you know it your an overnight sensation...
anyone can do it ...even you !!...well maybe not everyone...:)
It would be great if you could also post "Chain Lightning" of Don McLean, which I've been looking for in vain... Nevertheless, thanks for this one! :-)
Don McClean was one of the most prolific writers that ever lived. His ability to tell a story and include the passion of the moment is hard to be compared.
this song is amazing. just. amazing.

A friends son Vincent decided he could not meet his family's expectations and did finally set himself free. They played this song at his funeral.

And now I understand what you tried to say to me
how you suffered for your sanity
how you tried to set them free.
perhaps they'll listen now.
For they could not love you
but still your love was true

This song should have been used in the Joe Pesci film My Cousin Vinny. The lyrics would go so well with the theme of the film.

If Van Gogh was alive today...he would have Don McLean's CD in his collection.
Two genius's separated only by time.

@mirwin931 Much like Van Gogh himself, perhaps; who wasn't recognised until after his death.

His paintings pulsated, almost appear 3-D. His music resonates similarly. Almost as if the sound transcends the medium.
