On the original N64 version you can use a technique called cartridge tilting to skip a hell of alot. :P It involves pulling part of the cartridge out to glitch the game and then putting it back in. I doubt that's legal for speedruns though since it would make it unfair to those playing it on gamecube.

i forget exactly how, we had a nintendo 64. you make him twitch by pushing the joystick very very lightly (dont even walk) over and over again. the effect is him dancing quite badly.

Ok so it's a Speed Run....The whole purpose of that should be to see how fast someone can beat the game straight up. This guy is taking shortcuts, using hacks/cheats and totally screwing up the chronology of the game.  For example, the Japanese guy who beat Super Mario 3 in 11 minutes...he went through the sequence of the game and played it straight up...unlike Pyro here.

He didn't use hacks or cheats. He did take shortcuts and exploit glitches though. Sequence Breaking, or "screwing up the chronology of the game" as you put it, is a well accepted method for creating a speed run.
