  • SICK BEAT! This is good stuff.

  • This is one of many I bought on 12" vinyl from Groove Records, Soho St., London back in the day.I may even still have it somewhere.Anyone else remember Groove, I went back there sometime back but was disappointed to find it's now a sex shop.

  • @richwicz I found that out about Groove too several yrs ago, shame, I would probably still buy vinyl to this day if tunes like this were being made. I have my vinyl in deep storage, a lot bought from Groove, too many to list. All the best elements of hiphop are gone nowadays like scratching, beatboxing, classic drum machines, analog synth etc. Classic days and worth travelling into and around London for.

  • une des meilleures tunes de old school :P je ladore ste tune la!!!! elle est parfaite

  • ONE of THE Captain's BEST!

    ;-)

  • I love the way this YouTube vid is ripped off the original vinyl! Exactly as I remember it, perfect. When that riff cuts in at 36 seconds...... it melts me.

  • if you look up at wikipedia for captain rock nothing shows up!!!!!!! damn!!!!!

  • yeh this was when Hip Hop was good

  • ,serieux! j te promet j le savais pas, merci du tuyaux. mais je t assurre que c'est vraiment le genre de old school qui m fait vibrer et gamberger. grand grand merci audirs84

  • Oh my Gosh!!! I have been hunting for this track for ages. Taped it back in the day in full from the Mike Allen show on Capital Radio in the UK but accidently recorded over some of it and was gutted Mikey never played it in full again so I am on the mission to get this gem on vinyl and in the meantime just hitting the track here to listen to it. This brings back moments of nostalgia - no worries or responsibilities - just Hip Hop, graffiti and my ghetto blaster. Happy Dayz......

  • EPIC!!!!!!

  • Selling my whole collection of rare old school hip hop and funk, mainly original vinyls from the 70's and 80's. List sent by requested Pm.

  • This is one of the greatest Hip Hop tracks of all time. I've been a B-Boy since 1978 when I use to come to NYC on summer vacations from Jamaica. I would return to Jamaica with crazy audio cassettes with the latest songs. The first time I heard this song I knew it was a classic. Once I moved to the US permanently in 1984, I lived, breathe and ate Hip Hop. Still listen to Hip Hop today, just the good stuff though, Nas, Common, Wu, etc and educate my kids on the old school. They luv it!

  • @Justice777Allah great comment, Hip Hop was amazing in the 80a

  • @Justice777Allah ....Captain Rock aka Ron Green is going to be performing at The Scala in London UK on the 16th of July 2011 at Uk Fresh Reunion. Also playing are NEWCLEUS, THE B BOYS, GRAND MIXER DST, ARTHUR BAKER and more to be confirmed....Go to streetsounds uk website for more info.

As you say one of the best hiphop track of allllllllllll timmmmmme....

  • @Justice777Allah Dude i hear ya maaan. I'm a Brit Asian, London UK. In the early eighties all youth, any colour creed, needed an underground sound that would be theirs and boy, did the whole B Boy scene set if off. Tonight we have an old skool Electro Hip Hop night at Scala - be there or be nowhere for the older skooled heads! Aaaaand.... the Captain is here! Can't wait.

Many say Future shock, but i agree this track is Full Fledge Awesome! Can play it today in the clubs will still kick shit!!

  • @Justice777Allah - Excellent post. This is a s true hip hop classic. I remember when it song first came out. That hook has ALWAYS stuck with me.

  • @Justice777Allah I feel yah! son ...those were the days .

  • @Justice777Allah We kids should listen to this one! :D Captain is heavy here man.

  • How anyone can thumbs down this tune I don't know; when I think about my teens this tune always comes to mind. Damn the 80's were fantastic times.

  • Simply just one of the best Tracks of all Time - Thank you Mr. Ron Green for this Masterpiece! THANK YOU!!!

  • Killer Tune !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Capt Rock is now on facebook. Drop him a line anytime. Look under "Ron Green".

  • nagy

  • I think this is my favourite old school rap tune ever, saw him do this live at uk fresh 86 too! Still sends shivers down my spine.

  • @hidproductions - Lucky you had the chance to go to UK Fresh '86. I was banned from going by my pops cos I was only 14, a girl and he thought I would get in trouble but all my mates went and they had a wicked time. I just had to tape it live on Capital Radio and still have some of that to this day. Still, I am glad I was part of the whole Hip Hop scene and proud to be an original Fly Girl!!

  • @Oldskoolflygirl. I was only 13 and I went with a kid who 12 and some older kids, my dad took us and he hated it. It completely goes over his head that he witnessed such an event, all these legends performing, he just thought it was a load rubbish. If they invent time machines soon then you can go back and be there with my dad's ticket and he can sit in macdonalds and have a coffee. I still got the mike allen tapes of it. classic!

  • HELL YEAAAAAAAAAAAH!

  • We use to blast this in Broadway park in elmhurst Queens . While playing mad handball and gettin zooded . Those were the dayz

  • i can't believe this song is on here, man they played this at many a splash party back in the day a definate classic hip hop has fallen so far off

  • I used to love this song!

  • This is FRESH!

  • ♥ .

  • @MrMLD72MLD Quality Old School Hip Hop :)

  • That Fresh at the beginning is the most famous word scratched in the history of hip hop. It is truly a classic.

  • This is what it's all about top top tune!

  • anyone know who actually produced this track? I presume Capt Rock was an MC with a producer laying down the beats in the background or am I wrong?

the beats in this track still sound as phat as anything out their today!

  • @sladefx The Fantastic Aleems , Leroy Burges and Mixed by Marley Marl!

and the Lynn Drums of course!

  • I use to break to tracks like these in the early 80's in NYC.I remember going to the Roxy and United Skates of America and listening to this.Never ever will there be music like this again .That's because it was underground in those days you didn't hear it on the radio. You had to go to clubs and parties to hear hip hop being played. So the artist were producing real hip hop not mainstream and definetly not for the money.Damn i miss the old days\!!!!!!!!

  • Captain rock rocks the internet - i hope such music will be played on radio again - i mean that style...so smooth and galactic, baby !! ;-)

  • I think in all the years im gonna listen this i can make this one million views. Can't stop listening baby

  • @Nithralas Are you still listening this?

  • @Milkou991 Every day, but now on my Ipod ^^

  • @Nithralas Lol how that's possbile? Even song is very good but man, every day, wtf? Don't you get bored

  • Hell Yeah!!!!!

  • You can feel the effort and james brown work ethic in the making of most music back in the days.

Now with digital recording, there's no presure to get shit right the first 3 takes.

Even at the partys these hard hitin fast paced beats gave you no choice.

You had to get it in..lol

and you didn't need bling to get the chicks, when you can dance those panties right off their asses..lol..anyone can be Hood famous.

  • @mccoy1303 I don't think there was any ethic to work harder, it just came naturally to these guys. If anything, people have to work harder to produce music today to get noticed. There was also a lot of musical and political influence and if you were recording you had to be serious as the equipment was expensive. I think people had more fun back then and hiphop was certainly more exciting and inventive and it came through in the music.

  • this brings back memories, respect for posting this.

  • hard rocking elektro funk!!

  • I hated this music back in the day. I brother used to blast it in our household. Only now 26 years on it brings back all the great memories of the old days and I love it all now. Electro forever!! :-)

  • not to many young people know wat real hip-hop is and was, this crap on the radio is a bunch of noise that hurts my ear's...OLD SCHOOL til the day I die....

  • @backjudge10 It doesnt hurt my ears. Its just all about getting money, im the best, where's the grammy? Peace. hahahah

  • TIMELESS. WHAT MORE CAN YOU SAY

  • I love how rappers used to rap to a melody. It wasn't just this very monotone jabber, more like talk-singing. Captain Rock is one of my favorites from the era. This, Cosmic Glide and The Return of Captain Rock are massive.

  • com' ;q

  • this was i n the second phase of hip hop. CLASSIC!

  • Wow. Loved this back in the day, err, still love it. "The Pure" on side 2 was one of the best beatbox jams out there.

  • HELL YEAH

  • i love this shit but would never say it was better then todays shit...its all good..and its all about the memories..young people will remember 50 cents and that will be their shit..like we remember electro..but i must admit..OUR SHIT WAS BETTER LOL
