Not sure I agree with this tip. You want your hand enterring the water directly infront of your shoulder. This tip could cuse that hand entry to move more onto a centre line causing rotator cuff damage from the pull and potentially over rotation also.
@helimax Obviously, not all techniques are for everyone... hence the 350 or so drills posted. If it's not right for you, absolutely, don't practice it. However, all techniques used in swimming can contribute to injury if the wrong technique is practiced by the wrong person. Until everyone is built the same, then variations need to be learned. Only learning one way as a swimmer or coach, simply means you're not educated.
Break down the catch-up drill: pushing-off shoulders square to the water, with one arm back, holding the wall then release try to get "narrow" and feel balanced; make sure your hips pop to the surface and then your legs, then start the stroke by recovering. Try kicking or not. Then second part slowly get out of the catch-up by reaching with your spearing hand out in front you should have that arm-over-the-barrel sensation - if you get out of balance go back to the catch-up;) N-a-r-r-w-n-e-s-s
Way to go GOSWIM!!! Your videos are so helpful and right on point. 5 stars all the way: video quality, audio, explanation of what's going on the works. Superb!!
they are able to swim good until they need to breath. for example 1:10 - the man is sinking due breating and keep himself on surface just because he is moving bottom arm. it is not correct - he does not help to move forward himself when moving like this. sorry for my english.

That's what the voiceover says. The swimmers at 1:10 is demonstrating poor technique.
