  • what do you do if the uniform distribution is angled rather than a regular rectangle to show the area?

  • @pattubc

    Hi,

John is teaching a lot of MCAT this week, so I'm not sure how long it will take him to do a video response. But, I will forward him the message today.

    Thank you,

    Stephanie

  • I'm not sure if you also answer questions on here... But I have a statistics exam comming up and was just wondering (this was a question in a mock exam) how do calculate P(550< x <1000) out of a 'ship' that carries uniform distributed 400 < x < 800? I just don't get it.

Hi, I asked John your question. He said that he will try to do a video response after he teaches MCAT tonight

(roughly 9 or 10PM California time). The post should go up around 1AM. But, in case it takes a while...

He said, "P(550<x<1000) becomes P(550<x<800) since it only makes since from 400 to 800. So,

(800-550)/(800-400) = 250/400 = .625. This is "what you want" divided by "the total. Good Luck!"

    Good Luck,

    Stephanie
