@MajorBuckSnort For the most part I agree. It is not the only thing though that causes this. Fractional Reserve Banking also has the ability to create the booms and corresponding busts. The reason why is because when ever anything is artificially pushed beyond its limits whether oil, housing, or the dollar the market will not keep up and as such will eventually correct the imbalance. This correcting is the busts which results in the recessions.
@MajorBuckSnort One more thing, The reason why these market resources become a bubble is because when they are artificially above their means a lot of bad investments are going to be made in the hopes that the increase will remain. However, if we have learned anything about bubbles it is that they always eventually pop. This is when the people who made the bad investments lose their money (unless the GOV bails them out).

The issue of gold in Fort Knox has less to do with it being there than its quality. The gold was taken out of circulation in the '30's. We have no idea what % is 99.9 gold also what is owned in world markets. What if the gold is 85% gold mixed with other metals how does that affect markets,etc.

What was done under roosevelt is that they manipulated the public, took their gold, then it was sold cheap to bankers after which Roosevelt bumped up the price of gold and then these guys made a killing selling and reselling gold and silver as it happens, with each twitch of Roosevelt's manipulation of the prices. The elite stole from the American people and then got rich selling what they stole - under color of authority. IMHO, that's what's about to happen again.

We have lost nearly $1,000 of purchasing power over 10 years from the privately owned and operated US Federal Reserve Bank through excessive aggregate money supply. August 2000 an ounce of gold was around $280 and today it is around $1,250 dollars. All US taxpayers have basically lost $1,000 of purchasing power through artificially created Inflation.

Simply in a free market, or any market, when a recession or depression starts, just lower government spending, and lower taxes on the people, so more money can be spent on the market. But remember, key is lowering both spending & taxes, so you dont print money you dont have causing lowered value of the dollar. Plus, Ron Paul is correct, we do need a gold standard again.

@connorqb17 You are partially write lower taxes can be the way to get a multiplier effect to stimulate economic growth - but the problem is over consumption/ production in the good times which causes an artificial boom & bust cycle - what you need to do is have a production rate equal to the point of maximum social benefit (the "goldylocks zone" economist call it)

But insted they waited for a natural correction by "market forces" now we have a crisis of 14.8 trillion dollars (Greater than US annual GDP) - so this crisis money is flooding into the oil markets so Europe has to pay for US debt - we are f@#%ing pissed off
