  • 7800man mentioned the lawsuit filed against F.M by Bob Welch for unpaid royalties, he won. Makes me wonder if they owe Danny, he wrote a great deal of material for them. He probably wasn't in a position to go down that avenue even if they did owe him. It's also a very American thing to sue everybody's ass.

  • this is that awkward transition. the end of FM and the beginning of the bad pop music. McVie is useless. Danny is fading.

  • WOW! Very cool! Thanks for posting this gem.

  • danny and christine - fucking GREAT

  • Lindsay's guitar was a White les Paul custom in the early days, but I have seen him in a backstage interview picking at a black Les Paul custom. I have to say it Kirwan's style is more my cup of tea.

  • @MsOndine - Your comment about Buckingham and Kirwan made me laugh ha ha it's so true, you can imagine sparks flying. Lindsay changed his guitar after joining FM to the same one Danny had been using (Les Paul custom 'black beauty').

  • Heavy...

  • Danny seemed a bit loaded in this video, but he certainly did some nice licks and I like the shared background vocals he did with Christine McVie.

It's always a treat to see filmed Danny Kirwan performances on YouTube. There are far too few of this very overlooked, highly gifted guitarist/singer/songwriter, whose musical role in Fleetwood Mac is disgracefully underplayed, especially by Mick Fleetwood and John McVie.

  • @MsOndine maybe so.....but story has it that Kirwan flipped out in the middle of a tour over a tuning argument with Welch.....and left them hanging.......Mick and John had to do something.......blues was fading in popularity and Kirwan was too shy and introverted to be a legit frontman, Welch didn't work out...Mick and John in their prime, we're shitting bricks!!!....took a gamble and recruited a California flower-child couple a few years down the road....it paid off.

  • Where's Danny?

  • Bob Welch is a great guy !!! I would love it if they tour again and Bob was with them again. Yes stranger reunions have happened!

  • KIRWAN WE LOVE YOU

  • I'd love for the Welch/Fleetwood/McVie/McVie line up to get back together, do a tour and get this much much underrated era some exposure.

  • @purplegrant it would be nice to see the 1974 lineup play again, but last I knew in 1990 Bob filed a lawsuit for unpaid royalties and won and the McVie's and Fleetwood have not communicated with Bob since. This a reason why he was not put in the Rock N' Roll hall of fame in 98. It is probably a reason why there is also no Greatest Hits, nor any album remastered from the area either 71-74.

I would like to see the problems Bob, Fleetwood and McVie's get resolved someday :)

  • @7800man Well stranger reunions have happened! That's a really interesting reply, thanks. I wondered why things had gone so seemingly cold between them. They used to be on such good terms. (Like in that brilliant clip of Stevie and Mick joining Bob to play "Ebony Eyes" at Cal-Jam 2)

  • @purplegrant, I'd actually prefer the Kirwan/Welch/Mcvie lineu, although I know Danny only play for himself these days....

  • @MsOndine (myself),

I of course meant: 'line-up' and 'plays'.

I am still waiting for an edit button on YouTube...

  • But to be honest my dream line-up would have been: Kirwan/Buckingham/Mcvie/Fleetwood/McVie (although I have to admit I am more a fan of Christine's keyboard playing and her background singing than her lead vocals). I know Buckingham and Kirwan (my favourite FM guitar players and FM artists) would try to kill each other after a short while, but it certainly would have been interesting;)Reageren op deze video...

  • Thank you for sharing this! Love the Bob Welch era Mac!!

  • wish they could've spread out and jammed..you can tell they wanted to, and Mick was ready to take off. This is the same show they did "Dragonfly" on.. did they do anything else?

  • damn!! I want more!!!! Got more vids with Kirwan in the band???

  • Where did this footage come from... IT's Great.

  • @sherriffofhongkong Came from a tv thing!

  • Got to talk to Bob Welch recently via the phone - he's actually a really nice guy - very underated musician, in fact most guitar players in Fleetwood Mac are

  • @JustLikeTheCondor Awesome!

  • This is GREAT!!!! Thanks...Mick is on fire!...

  • @MrJameswingham Yep!

  • WOW!!!!

This is the proof that - basicly- Fleetwood Mac always was and will always be a rythmsection. Whoever shares the stage with them. Wow, Mick and John are hitting it of here BIGTIME. Thank you so much, I've never seen this before!

  • @shackinup Yepp!

  • Great footage!! Never seen this clip before. (:

  • @biglindseyfan77 Thanks Jackie,!!

  • @SuperFleetwoodMAC ~ sure. (:
