he's got his ego so he thinks its cool to mess around while he does it i think he needs to pick a different song tho i mean im sure if someone spent years playing the same song they can do that to it was cool the first time but now not so much
AWESOME ... but it is better to play in cirque du soleil ... speed of man means nothing .. nothing like the magnificent solos David Gilmore to prove That I'm not mistaken....!!!!!!! prefer guitarists the old fashioned ...
guitar noob. this guy makes a crap-load of mistakes. this isn't even the genuine flight of the bumblebee piece, he hit too many wrong notes. super sloppy and he faked the world record too. i'll give you a link to prove it if you want me too.
@GoodMetalFTW Silence peon. He made no mistakes in the actual world record ^^ (yea, i did see some mistakes in this, but after i posted the comment) :D
that is the REAL footage of him playing during that world record attempt. he obviously modded the footage, this is raw footage of it with a cell phone camera. he has never done a clean cover of this.
i never said it didn't happen, i just asked for the link you douche. i also found the video and is CLEAN AS A WHISTLE. that doctorhotlicks dude is legit and perfectly clean as opposed to the idiot with no brain claims.
@Guitareben Yup! If you go to the video of my 600 bpm you can find a link in the description that shows screenshots of my Guinness online profile. Unfortunately they still haven't updated their entire system, so when you search for "fastest guitar player" some Italian guy shows up. Vega got beat by him not too long ago. I guess Vega's 340 was never approved, because that's what the Italian guy's record was for. I'd post a link to the screen shots here buy youtube never let's me post urls.
i thought you were disqualified for tremolo picking. just a stupid rumor i guess. congratulations, but seriously, that wasn't a good idea. once you break the world record that's what you are going to be remembered for. speed. just look at della vega.
@FeedMeForiAmATroll Well that's a rumor I hadn't heard before. What if I want to be remembered for this record though? How is that a bad thing? It's been a dream of mine to be known as the fastest, so I'm thrilled to have pulled it off :)
At the risk of being spammed myself for this I would like to mention that if anyone who watches/watched this video would like to see someone play it faster then please view my channel. I'm trying to get Guinness to accept me as the fastest. Universal Record Database did and they're basically the wikipedia version of Guinness. If you watch it, thank you! If not, no problem.
Why people ALWAYS have to desacredit all? shut the fuck up.... he is enjoying his thing and the fact that you cant do that its not a valid argument to come and hate the guy... come on! its not music, but is amazing!!!
You make a somewhat valid point! However, the metaphor doesn't fully work. He doesn't just stumble a few times. Actually, at no point does he pick 16th notes at 340 bpm in the vid. (He only gets a little slower than 8th triplets) Perhaps it's from fatigue (he tried twice!!) I think that he should play the piece at the tempo that his picking supports. Being that his fastest picking in this video is 8th note triplets at 340, he would be able to play the piece at 255 cleanly.(17 nps)Still great!
Such Jealousy out there! Hard to imagine a real musician not recognizing this as ground breaking. Do you think it is sloppy? Here is a test: try getting your RIGHT hand alone to double pick ONE note at 370 BPM. Can't do it? Just what I thought. Della Vega is unbelievable, and what's more, he can play SLOW as well. Eat your hearts out, or you fingers off, and stop trying to diminish something that is well beyond your own ability.
Nobody is putting Della Vega down as a guitarist or a musician- he's great! However, this attempt is not a success- he'd be the first to admit it. He knows that it wasn't clean enough. You can clearly see him ask for 1 more attempt at the end of the vid(which would be his 3rd try at 340 on the same day). He holds up his index finger. Also- it's not like he's making it through the piece a little bit slower than 340bpm- he's omitting a little over 1 note per measure. (8th triplets vs. 16th notes)
@StevenConverse Thanks for your reply, and all of this is meant as informative discourse. D.V. is playing this piece at a here-to-fore unprecedented speed. Classical masters play this, typically, about 170 - 184 bpm. To hear D.V. play this (in Japan at 370!) is like watching someone run the 440 in 10 seconds. If a slowed down film reveals the runner has stumbled a few times, what he has done is NO LESS extraordinary. The easiest thing to do, the very easiest, is to find fault and criticize.
man, i dont see any problem that he isnt playing the song exactly right, he got the record for fastest playing not greatest playing...but we got to agree that he play fast as fuck!
@dmmc1043 I don't really think the argument is about whether or not he is playing the "correct" version of the song so much as it's about whether or not it's a dick move to point out that he's not.
This guy can pick so fast because all he does is masturbate nonstop, rather than actually learning how to create something beautiful and meaningful on that instrument.
you know, no one thinks any higher of you just because you can tell he's not playing the flight of the bumblebees like the true original piece. While I think speed in the world of music is one of the last things to be worried about the dude is still impressive with his picking speed, and I think thats the main focus here.
To everyone complaining that he isn't hitting all the notes, go watch the video where he officially sets the world record instead of a intel demonstration. He does it better there.
The point of this really is to show that the Orange PC has extremely low latency, and that even if you play the guitar at 340 bpm, it will still process it and churn it out properly. You all seem to be missing the point that this is going through a COMPUTER and not a traditional amp. Hence why it's at the Intel stand.
That sounded stupid and shitty. Towards the end it sounded more like him picking real fast and sliding around the fret board than actual notes. Color me 100% unimpressed.
this is so boring, i hate stuff like this and the people who play like that, just absolutely not point to it! he should be ashamed for ruining a good instrument
@mangus When you play guitar that fast, improving your speed actually means slowing down. There is virtually nothing of value you can actually do with this speed.
Everyone should listen to this at half speed and realize that it's not really the authentic "Flight of the Bumblebee" piece. He's not even picking 16th notes.
Search this on Google (for some reason the link won't work if you plug it into your browser) and go to page two in the thread to find the song posted at half speed (slowed down), and you can hear for yourself how sloppy and inaccurate it is. "dl.dropbox.com/u/28651/tdv_halfspeed.mp3"
@StevenConverse You can hear it without having to go to half speed. What was the point of this anyway? Is Intel making some kind of tremolo picking counter?
@StevenConverse Apparently someone needs to build up his own low self-esteem by downplaying the achievements of others. Hey everyone! Go check out StevenConverse's channel! He must be a much better guitarist/musician because he shits on other people's accomplishments!
How many Guinness Records do you hold? I'm assuming none, so please feel free to prove me wrong. Otherwise, you may be better suited to work on your own skills instead of whining about people who are clearly more skilled than you.
@FrothyD lol , i'm not taking sides, but the official transcriber for dream theater actually slowed this video down and analyzed it in detail and confirmed that tiago isn't playing fullon 16th notes... oh well
@lboyrobot But what was he doing that was so impressive? I see a guy moving his fingers really fast, but not playing anything technically impressive. Technically impressive would be doing something that was fast and accurate. This isn't accurate, it's sloppy.
@StevenConverse The point here is not if he used 16th or not, is the number of notes played by minute. And division is merely didatical. You can play 8th notes on a 16th noted piece, just playng at a twice fast bpm. It will sound exactly the same. You´re confused cause you´re paying atentiton to the click-note relation.
@jcsk8 Let me clarify to everyone else that I wasn't putting Tiago Della Vega at all with my comment- Guiness just shouldn't have counted this as a success. The idea of the record is that he starts playing the piece at slower tempos and gradually builds up. At low tempos, he plays 16th notes to the metronome (as the piece is written). Here, he is attempting to do so, but only achieving 8th note triplets. (A little slower) There is a reason why he aborts his 1st attempt in the related video.
@jcsk8 But that's not what the video information says. I see "340 beats per minute". Doing what, sliding his fingers across the fretboard whilst tremolo picking as fast as he can? That's pretty much all he's doing here.
How is that an accomplishment? How is that something special, something that's no one's done before? How is that even worthy of being called a record?
exactly. it's extremely sloppy and it sounds like he is palm muting well over half the video. i don't need to slow this down to realize it's not the actual piece, it's blatantly obvious that it's not.
He have got a wonderful style. Nice seven string guitar, I don't khow this mark but I like it. Congratulations Tiago, you,re the best . Greetins fron Spain .
Simple, just do the math with the time they did at 170 and the time with their own "record" and i think doctorhotlick actually did faster... my point of view, say wath you think

@pepef1 Or just playing at 170 peats per minute but the metronome is counting in eight notes.

If he keeps improving his speed, next video will last 10 seconds
mangus 1 year ago 17

@StevenConverse Video Response with you doing better please.

@FrothyD lol , i'm not taking sides, but the official transcriber for dream theater actually slowed this video down and analyzed it in detail and confirmed that tiago isn't playing fullon 16th notes... oh well

@FrothyD Since when has holding a Guinness World Record been the mark of a skilled musician?
YngtchieMusic 1 year ago
@YngtchieMusic because he was playing at 340 bpm
lboyrobot 1 year ago
@lboyrobot But what was he doing that was so impressive? I see a guy moving his fingers really fast, but not playing anything technically impressive. Technically impressive would be doing something that was fast and accurate. This isn't accurate, it's sloppy.
YngtchieMusic 1 year ago

@StevenConverse lol a bunch of egocentric guitarrists putting thumbs up
boredperson81 1 year ago
@StevenConverse
exactly. it's extremely sloppy and it sounds like he is palm muting well over half the video. i don't need to slow this down to realize it's not the actual piece, it's blatantly obvious that it's not.
